Mixing Guide: 1. Fix every sound with eq if needed. But I recommend having great sounds so you dont waste your time. 2. Add effects to your sounds if the beat needs it. 3. EQ the low end of every sound until it still sound great. But don't eq your kick & 808 only if you want more or less punch. For this kind of thing I recommend using a transient shaper plugin like Transient Master by NI or the default fl plugin not an EQ. 4. Gainstaging: For trap music, Kick & Clap (or snare) should be the loudest element because thats moves the head. Put the kick at - 6, Put the snare around -5,5 and the 808 a little bit under it. The rest always depends on the beat and the style. 5. Sidechain: I recommend sidechaining everything for the kick a tiny bit. This way when the chorus comes you will have much more impact. Do everything like EdTalenti said about sidechaining. Plus thing: check out how long your kick is in ms, and set the release the exact same amount. 6: Your mix is done. Mastering: Have an eq plugin which has an output gain knob. I recommend Fabfilter Pro-Q 2. Do a cut at 20hz. And make your mix clip a little bit with the output knob. 7: The secret thing: Put on the master after the eq a clipper plugin. (FL Studio users: Fruity Soft Clipper) This makes your beat sound much harder and louder at the same time without distortion. Hope this helped you, and feel free to correct me in the comments. Maybe your advice helps somebody.

-6 peak or RMS? Also, you cut at 20Hz on the master? And what's a clipper? Compressor? Saturator? I'm asking cause I use Ableton and I don't think I got a clipper. Thanks
@@trapnest_music -6 peak in the mix, this way your output on the master will be around - 6 as well which is perfect for rappers to sing when they buy the trackouts from you. @@trapnest_music Clipper is a clipper its like a limiter without compression, basicly it takes your clipping mix and limit it in a nice and smooth way so you dont get any distortion only if you make crazy things.
You explained that so good my g! Most youtubers talk in circles and half engineer code like we are all at the same level. I subscribed because I didn’t have to rewind out of confusion. I don’t have FL, I use protools, I’ll have to watch more. I might explain mixing vocals better than half the people on UA-cam as well lol.
Quick recommendation: use linear phase eq when you're dealing with low end. regular eq moves the phase which can be really critical when dealing with low end.
Yo guys, anyone know how he did to record his screen with sound coming from Ableton please ? I have been trying to do it in every i can possibly find but nothing seems to work for me and i really want make beatmaking video on UA-cam too! Thanks in advance guys🙏🏿!
can you please explain why my 808s sound banging and distorted and nice at the start, but as the track goes on they become more quiet? I have compression and a compression side chain to the kick

doesn't it make any difference where you put the utility for gain staging? before the eq or after? at the end or after the sampler? please i need to know this!
Would sidechain EQ on the 808 to drop in the frequency range of the kick be better? since its not dropping the whole volume of the 808? I don't even know how to do it if its possible.
Solid tips! Just wanted to ask about the clipping happening within the sidechain that i can see happening under the threshold? Shouldn’t that be gain staged before going into the sidechain? Let me know! Cheers

as always a great vid, but i felt u wnet through the sidechaining part without givin the last sauce such as the gain and release which i think for most are almost equally important... but hey you'll probably do that in another vid if u haven't already ;)

To me the snare at -5,5 db sounds too loud, I usually put it at around -15 because it is mainly made of mid-high frequencies

It was but I selected the kick "pre-fx" so it bypasses it but doesn't make a difference. It's just to set the level for the threshold 👍

with the low cut we shouldnt just blindly do it with every 808 right? some still feel good with those frequencies hitting

I’m trying to eq my kick to 20hz like you show but 30 hz is the lowest Eq eight will allow. I don’t understand 🧐
when you eliminate frqs like this with eq8 you kinda fucking up the phase so i recommend to use a 3rd party linear eq like waves low band
