Higher Education in Pakistan, key problems and possible solutions

- This video is an attempt to highlight the key issues in Pakistani higher education along with the possible solutions/recommendations.
1- Very expensive, money making machines, no funding.High tuition fees, no proper funding and scholarship mechanism. Critique on Ehsaas scholarship program (only for poor)
2- Gap between Industry and Academia. Industry does not support academia, does not offer any funding for research and development.
3- Discouraging research environment. Universities discourage research, Professors are busy in teaching. Students avoid research, choose course based degree. Professors are not giving enough time to students who are doing research
4- Lack of technical infrastructure Lack of research labs. Lack of software and hardware. Universities do not provide internet facility to students, students don't go to library, they use mobile to get information so they need good internet, PERN bandwidth goes without use
5- Problems with online education. No proper training for teachers and students. Teachers are not fully equipped. Students do not have computers at homes
6- Language barrier. Students from remote areas cannot understand English. Medium of instruction is English, Teachers are compelled to deliver lectures in English, students' presentations and exams are in English language
7- No goals for higher education, what are we making? What they can do after this degree?Are we producing clerks? Will they get jobs after such research skills? training?
Suggestions

1- Reduce tuition fees
2- Bring scholarship and funding programs for every student, for both rich and poor
3- Reduce gap between industry and academia
4- Encourage research, upgrade teaching methodology to teach latest research techniques including research software
5- Upgrade research labs, provide research software to faculty and students
6- Provide internet to students (library fees goes in vain, give internet instead of library services)
7- Provide training to teachers and students for online education.
8- Remove language barrier
9- Set goals at university end, aim to produce graduates who are equipped with knowledge and skills.

Excellent oration for the benefit of new generation. All the weaknesses mentioned here, are reality based keeping in mind the facilities provided by the institutes n the surrounding situation. The best thing is that the issue of language barrier is raised.

There are many flaws in Higher Education System of Pakistan.
Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) is a MAFIA and don't want to promote BTech Engineering/Engineering Technology.
National Technology Council (NTC)'s ACT is pending since 2015 and Service Structure hasn't been approved for BTech Engineers till yet.
Actually PEC Engineering and BTech were same and both the Degree students were studying the same books but then HEC's chairman Mr. Tariq Banouri and PEC MAFIA Engineers changed curriculum of BTech Engineers in 2016/2017 so a new scheme of study was introduced for BTech Engineers and also the title change from BTech Engineers to Engineering Technologists.
Mr. Tariq Banouri appointed Mr. Imtiaz Gillani as chairman of National Technology Council (NTC) on his Power Basis.
Engineering Technology is also 4-Years Degree but 3 years theory and 1 year Internship/Project.
Now I studied Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) 3-Years in 2011 and after that I have studied BTech Engineering 4-Years in 2015 UET Peshawar, so a total of 7 -Years I have spent in studying Engineering but still PEC MAFIA Engineers say that we don't accept you even PEC MAFIA Engineers have studied only 4-Years Engineering (B.Sc/BE Engineering) .

Mr. Tariq Banouri just wasted the technical education (BTech Engineering) in Pakistan.

Sir mery ak ap ko suggestion/Request hy, Sir hamary ha sub sy zyada education problem ye bhi hy k, ak student ak time 3,4,5 degrees kar raha hota hy jab k ye sari degrees HEC ki tarf sy Verify hoti hen to HEC us student ki data py check kary k koe banda ak time ak sy zyada degrees nahi kar sakta to jab ak student ak degree py focus kary ga to us ka standard acha hoga us me quality education ae gi, bajae k ak sath 4/5 degrees karen, or ye jo ak sath itni degrees kar rahy hoty hn ye ak to bht rich /Middle class waly log hoty hn, or dusra ye Job k lie kar rahy hoty hn, jis ki waja sy Demerits hoti hen, Nepotism, Favouritism bht high level py hota hy, to Sir ap researcher ho ap agy awaaz uthao hum to students hn, me 2 years pehly BBA ki final year me tha to ak Teacher parha raha tha, jis ny bataya pehly University me Lecturer ki job k lie Graduation tha, ab Mphil, kal ko PhD hojae ga, or Sir mera sawal ye hy k jab PhD py puhinchy gy to phr agy koe degree ae gi Pakistan me????? Discouraging factor happens to me same as you defined. I personally want to attempt thesis but my teachers keep on discouraging and saying like bs course uthao and degree loo. Keep in mind i m talking about one of the biggest university of Pakistan n Islamabad.

I just started master's in history through Aiou, practical to 1 side py wo to parhaty b nahi online just book reading horahi with paid assignments, me study chor doon ya koi hal hai mere pas?
Doing something is better than doing nothing, so carry on what you're doing. At least you will end up with a degree in your hands.

Fully agree with you. Universities have become money making machines, their focus is to make money, not to make "banday de putar" to deliver them some knowledge.
Kabhi kabhi ameer baap b support nae karta kyun k unko education system pasand nae ata.... And wo girls ko support nae karty education i also tried to get a scholarship from ehsas but unhy mai ameer lagi....😂
Nothing can't be done in Pakistan about education until the country get rid of the groups of terrorists or these students will fall victim to these organizatons in the future.
