This actually happened to Neil Armstrong. You basically went through the same troubleshooting that Armstrong had to. So Kudos! You know this spacecraft really well.
Armstrong turned off OAMS and used RCS to stabilize the craft.
That was great, and this really puts pressure on you, happy to see some debugging before disabling the OAMS by triggering the RCS. Your reasoning in the post analysis is correct, the OAMS thrusters got stuck and was causing unpredictable behavior. By enabling RCS, you shut down the OAMS entirely, and can use it to regain control. Not sure why the roll stopped as I usually have to correct that myself but hey, you made it down, in the games hardest mission yet. Apollo will be easy after this :)
Apollo will be easy after this you say? Well alright then! Bring it on! :D
@@N9GamingOfficial I like this attitude! :D
Having a multicrew option would be a fantastic step for this. Imagine N9 and Beardy running a Gemini mission together.
That would be a blast :D
@@N9GamingOfficial lunar ascent is way harder. But otherwise it's pretty easy.
Never seen this simulator before. This looks awesome.
As so often happens, orbital rendezvous is an exercise in the concept of "more haste: less speed."
Exactly like watching First Man! great episode.
haha, yeah! :D
I can’t wait for the Apollo missions videos
Well, its been 4 weeks so I know the new for all kerbalkind episode is gonna be good. Hopefully within the next few weeks. Really love the series. Really do.
Thank you! Uni is taking 102% of Beardy's time right now, hopefully soon!
@@N9GamingOfficial yeah. Btw, do you know where to find realism overhaul? Thinking of trying out the mods myself, seeing as its so real. Stock ksp doesn't have failing engines or anything that can ruin missions except for my own incompetence.
Yes! Simply look up KSP RO wiki, and you should find the Realism Overhaul github, it has all the info you need (:
I think there must had been an xenomorph onboard Egina that cut throw wires causing a spin...
Great video and cool knowledge there.
Great you did that.
For some reason the sim thinks I've achieved docking with Agena. I should be proud but I didn't even do anything 😕
Nice missions!
This looks so realistic 😮 I've never seen it before 🤔
Oh geez, that's a wild ride. One thing unfortunately that a game like this can't convey is how much you'd be tossed around the cabin and getting dizzy while all this takes place.
Oh absolutely, I'd love a full sim of a spacecraft, G forces and all
Nice
This, in vr, with hand tracking & a hotas setup would be amazing, I might forget I'm even in a game, except no G-force of course lol
It does have VR Support ;)
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
aaaaaah, I wanted to scream so loud to turn off OAMS and activate reentry RCS but then I remembered it isn't live.
I figured it would work, but I wanted so desperstely to shut down the problematic thruster, but it was impossible
I was yelling at the video myself and yelling the same commands . the 2 astronauts that this mission telly happened to was Neil Armstrong and Dave Scott . if im not mistaken Neil talked about this mission in any interview .
Just remembered I have this and a VR headset… I should give it a shot I think
Yes most definitely
@@N9GamingOfficial they’ve also started a Mission Control setup, might be a fun way to interact with you on a live stream (time zones permitting)
That would be yeah!!
When you activate rcs it's cuts the line to oams for some reason. But you forgot to set rcs to acme, I think you also powered acme off as well.
Ahh makes sense
The OAMS line severing is done with a seperate switch, but this is a fail-safe in case of a stuck thruster (which is what this failure is). Pyrotechnic guillotines cut the line by force, preventing the OAMS and RCS from conflicting with one another.
Because RCS is a very finite (and seperate) fuel source, NASA policy at the time was that it’s an automatic Mission abort once RCS is enabled, because without OAMS and RCS, the capsule is not able to be controlled, leading to a very good chance of being stuck in orbit or tumbling and burning up during reentry.
The events of Gemini 8 are also the reason why the RCS in Apollo is so complex as it has 4 quadruple redundant RCS thruster packs, and also a seperate RCS source for the CM.
NASA wasn’t screwing around with that again.
@@ghostdog688 I am aware of that. But the line is severed when pressing the rcs as well. It does the same thing, and I just think it was for human-design orientation. In an emergency the two buttons signal different things in the brain, ultimately doing pretty much the same thing with the exception that the rcs button also pressurized the forward fuselage.
Multiplayer in this will be bonkers!
Never heard someone pronounce Agena that way before, interesting.
Classic Wisconsin accent I guess idk!
@@N9GamingOfficial ayyy. I'm from there too
How do you pronounce it?
ah-jay-nah?
ah-jee-nah?
ah-guh-nah?
a-gee-na?
@@calibranese ah-jee-nah
@@calibranese Like the kind of pants jeans. A-jean-a
yo i know all the comments seem like they are already in the loop on these types of games but as a casual gamer this makes me shit my pants lol😭🙏
gemini roll
food roll
sandwich
corned beef sandwich
on gemini 3
if this is the first docking in history then explain what me and my fun uncle did when i was 11
Some form of gimble lock?
You're a trendsetter, everyone wants to be like you.
Ahhhhh
Yeaaaahhhhh!!
I’m not sure if someone has already said anything but the docking target was pronounced “a-geena”
Acknowledged, but close enough :P
You had to release this at 3 am? Lmao np
;)
How is your character moving like that?
TrackIR, a small sensor that makes my head movements move the camera in game!
:D
Do you understand the word pitch vs roll?
Yes?
How demanding is this game on the GPU and CPU?
Well I have a gtx 1080 and an i9 9900k and it's pretty smooth!
@@N9GamingOfficial More concerned about the GPU tbh, how low do you think someone could get away with on this game? Also thanks for the reply.
Honestly I'm not sure, what do you have?
@@N9GamingOfficial I'm sitting on around 3 GB of VRAM
I've only got 4, so I imagine you'd be alright
Please tell me this is vr
It is! Yes!
@@N9GamingOfficial How's it work? The UI text around the setting game me the heebee jeebies so I haven't given it a go.
The VR only works in flight if that helps, I forget the settings
Ooh I love this, but I understand sooo little of what you do or say. Couldn't you make an episode where you explain like.... Everything? What does all those words mean, what is happening, what are all the buttons for and so on...
I cant dedicate time to it right now, but that would be fun to do :)
It’s “AGENA’. Not AJANA.
Tell that to NASA :P
if you were confused guess how confused we were 😭

Too bad it doesn't support VR.
Reentry? It absolutely does
bro really pronounced Gemini like Jiminy Cricket.
Y'all forgot how NASA pronounced that way, I got it from them :D
o8yiuwe4uyriwquerj
This feels like Gemini 8, while the mission you did before is probably Gemini 9 (or to be more precise 9A).
Interestingly they let you play the later mission first, but I don't mind, this makes a better storytelling anyway.
See you with Gemini 10, where almost everything worked flawlessly?
Actually there appears to be no more Gemini campaign missions! Might fly a free play for fun though (:
