Hollow Knight: Silksong is taking a bit longer than expected. So I decided to take it into my hands and present you with an epic metroidvania. When I was a kid I enjoyed drawing in Microsoft Paint, now that I'm an adult I enjoyed Hollow Knight. Combining both of them, you get a Metroidvania made in Paint. Is paint actually good for game art? Can unity and paint work together? Let's find out in this devlog where I made an entire Metroidvania game using MS Paint! Game development. Yeah. Programming in Unity C#. Assets Blender. Inspiration Hollow Knight.

When I was stuck on 8 bit and 16 bit micro-computers I used to tessilate to make the appearance of custom colors. Nothing like turning 8 colors into 64, so long as you squint real hard and stand at the back of the room!

I actually love the artstyle, I would love to see a whole finished game drawn in MSPaint now, maybe stray a bit away from the character style from Hollow Knight, and I can see an amazing game coming out from it!

damn, I found your channel today and I just binge watched all your videos. Your content is so funny and inspiring aswell seeing you progress from your first game. I am just starting out in game development and I know a long and hard journey lies ahead, but seeing channels like this just gives me alot of motivation. Keep doing what you are doing, you rock!
Hey I did this once! But it was just art assets tho I didn't actually make a game like you lol. ProTip:to keep sprites the same size you could've made a rectangle and copy pasted them next to each other and draw inside those. Once you're done just remove them before exporting them as a sprite sheet by using the paint bucket tool.

Games totally looks like a finsihed product even better created by one man did you did all the programming by yourself also? Is you did please include some of the code that you figure out that took you so long like look how i implemented this double jump something like that, it would help a lot of indie Dev's. @giedzilla: You can remove the white background after importing to 3d paint and using the magic select tool to remove the avatar from the white background.

I was wanting to make a 2d game using unity but I’ve never used unity so I looked up some tutorials and then u popped up idk why but your channel is so underrated

Look I know that this isn't a full game and I know that people say like "oh Hollow Knight ripoff" to like everything now, but like come on man:
Metroidvania
Character who has a black body and white mask head
Long cloak which covers the characters body except for their feet
Has black particles come off when hit
When dealing damage has white particles come off
Pogoing mechanics
Dash + Walljump upgrades (admittedly one of the more common upgrades in the genre)
Set in various types of caves
Empty throne in a castle
Can bounce on a cute npc by down poggoing
Again, I know that this was more of a challenge to yourself than trying to make a brand new game but like its not that hard to at least try to put in some effort to make something original...

Pizza Tower isn't the only game that has "MSPaint" aesthetics on the Artstyles. Cursed Trilogy, Hotline Miami, and CD-i Games like Legend of Zelda and Hotel Mario (Cutscenes only) has that kind of aesthetics too.
The main character also reminds me of the one in Dead Cells

Player
-Name: The Maestro
One of what used to be many.
Maestros are beings not born of any instrument, instead they are born with souls potent with Orchestral visage, making them dangerous.
-Weapon: Symphony
This is the main weapon all Maestros use, they are born with the power to create it.
A "Symphonic Weapon" is a weapon a Maestro imbues with their power, giving it special properties, the base strength is entirely based off of the strength of the Maestros Orchestra, which can than be strengthened by special ores. It changes it's damage type (Slashing, Piercing, Bludgeoning) based on the weapon the maestro wants to use(sword, bow, hammer).
-Magic: Orchestral Arcane
Magic used by drawing from the soul(Orchestra) of the Maestro.
The Orchestral Arcane is a form of magic mixing together every kind of music from every instrument, the Maestro draws power from their soul to make their "tune"(magic). However only Maestros can draw power from their souls, most other magic users draw their power from the life force of others, or from the powers their God gives them through chants known as "choir", though this method of magic usage is slow.
Normal Enemies
- Brass Mercenaries
Warriors hired by the evil tyrant King of Brass. They carry with them a Trumpet Gun, a common enemy until you either kill or pay off their captain.
- Trumpet knights
Corrupted Soldiers of the Tyrant Brass King.
They wield a sword and shield, and are loyal to a T. A common enemy in this world.
- Tuba Defenders
Corrupted Tuba Tanks.
They carry with them a Tuba-Zooka no shields needed, loyal to their King no matter what. Common enemy to face.
- Trombone Snipers
Corrupted Frail ranged Snipers.
Annoying to face and cowardly in nature, they keep running when you get close, and loyal to their King.
- Tuba Troopers
Working along side their similar Tuba brothers they carry a Tuba Gatling Gun, and are loyal their Captain more than their King.
- Brass Priests
Prideful in nature, they believe that the Brass God is the one true God and everything else is heresy, they cast Choir Chants, for they believe it's the purest form of magic. Loyal to their Brass God only and will do anything for it.
- Brass Wizards
"Sacrifices need to be made for progression"
- The Brass Arch-Mage
Wizards are different from Priests and Maestros, they do not draw power from themselves or from God, but from the life-blood of others.
- Brass Cherubs
The angels that work under the Brass God, their choir is the strongest of all.
Mini-Bosses that turn into regular enemies are
- Brass Shinobi
Fast paced heavy hitters.
They have a tendency to pause after attacking, you can use this to deal damage. Assassin's sent from the king, so stealthy their almost invisible.
- Tuba Demolitionist
KA-BOOM.
They like big boom, nothing more to say.
-The Sousaphone Wheel-men
They spin around in their giant sousaphones like a wheel, with the bell as their thruster.
Bosses that die and stay dead
- Brass Arch-Angels
They guard the gates to the Brass Gods throne. They wield a big sword, a big shield, and is big in general.
- The Brass Mercs Captain
If you can't pay him off he'll fight you.
A joke of a warrior, he can't fight for shit, dies in one hit. But he's very cowardly and very fast, often whizzing around the room and hiding in spaces difficult to find.
- Brass Pope
The head of the Brass Church.
The Holiest symbol of the Brass Church, the only gateway to the heavens. He uses Choir Chants and they are powerful, but they have a long windup and he's vulnerable to attacks.
- Brass God
God of everything Brass.
Deadly and Loud.

The people of Brass were so prideful in their sound they named their currency after their "holy blood".

I make animations in Unity, I draw sprites in different softwares. For example here I drew it in Paint, if I’m making pixel art I use Aseprite. What I’m tryin to say you can go with any drawing software
