I stated in vid it's a Mikuni carby... with stock carby I use a flat head screwdriver bit for a drill.. It's not easy but it can be done if you hold your mouth right.... lol
22.5 pilot jet? wow that seems so small. I have a fixer upper 2009 KLR650 that will start but floods out and dies before it gets warm. Stock pilot jet is like 38 or 40 and the main jet is like a 152 or 150. I didn't think the difference between living in Europe and united states would change the jetting that much. I turned the fuel up to help the bike get started, since it seems the choke doesn't work at all, now the bike puts out a black spark plug after it floods. not sure if i should try smaller jets yet or not. This is the first time i have heard of anyone using a smaller than 38 pilot jet just watching you tube. Typical carb behavior for Texas, US at least on honda and suzukis anyways. Is the pilot jet is undersized for climate. My boys 03 JR80 2 stroke jetting is spot on with a size 30 pilot jet. my guess on the 09 klr650 is that if it is stalling and hard to start before getting warm then turning the fuel down is not gonna be enough, that the pilot jet is to big.
Do not confuse the standard carb with Mikuni carb... 22.5 is Mikuni only.... Standard carb I run standard pilot... Mikuni is completely different from standard carb.... Maybe you need to check your air/fuel mixture. .. make sure carb and air filter completely clean.. there's a few air galleries that need to be blown out... take your time and make sure everything good... Even with no choke bike should start with a small crack of the throttle
How can you adjust that screw from the side like that? My KLR has it's screw on the bottom and it's impossible to get to.

@@glennosgarage1307 Thanks. I never thought of using a small bit like that. Good idea.
Just got mine from Frank Mx, can't figure out the tuning for idle air fuel mixture brass knob on bottom. Any tips?
What carby did you get?
Anyone uses lock tite gel for the screws in carburetors?
Never
My klr want idol right, when im at red light and take off, it chokes out, then will clear out and take off. It acts like its running to rich
What carby and set up are u running?
Dont know, i did order a over haul kit and just installed it today, its running much better, and ordered a new choke cable,

What do you know or think caused the wipe out in your intro?
What needle are you running? Stock or KLX? Nice results. I knew there had to be a way to make the beast beasty!!
