Diahann Carroll left The Legends Ball early because she was being honored with an honorary Doctorate degree from Spellman College. THAT is a DIVA!
She is above & beyond. What a marvelous, amazing, determined, accomplished, elegant admired beautiful 😍❤ queen that's missed & beloved ❤💖 by so many!!!!
I absolutely love Diahann Carroll but I find it offensive that people say to her that she sounds so articulate. Why wouldn’t she sound articulate? Diahann Carroll represent the majority of black women in American.
Miss. Carroll was known for how eloquent her diction was. Thats not condescending to say. Im Black & said that about her all the time! It was one of the things i loved most about her. Never meant it as anything but a compliment... 😒
Ya'll need to stop getting offended by everything. I am black and even I would call that Ms. Caroll eloquent . She sounds more eloquent than most black AND white people. Her accent reminds me of the Mid-Atlantic accent. So sophisticated and lucid.
@@backto-il9ne YOU BETTER SAY IT !!!...
@TheBrabon1 TOTALLY ON POINT 👍👍👍.....
That’s actually a compliment...
A true icon, a beautiful vibrant star that burned brightly.
Ms Carroll was elegance, beauty, poise and class personified. A lady as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She was an amazing talent and a true trailblazer who broke down barriers. Her perfect diction came through when she sang. That lady had such a beautiful voice. We are lucky to have her recordings. What a fascinating and intelligent woman. She truly was one of a kind. I met her in the 1980’s in Cardiff South Wales. It was a Vic Damon’s concert. This was just before they married and were engaged. He brought her on stage and she sang. Everyone was captivated by her incredible voice and beauty. There was a Lord Mayor reception afterwards, they both attended. She was so natural and gracious. As for her beauty, her skin was flawless. A 20 year old would have killed for skin like hers. She was late 40’s at this time and was on Dynasty. But she made time for everyone there who wanted to talk to her. It really was an honour to meet this wonderful lady. RIP Ms Carroll, heaven has a new angel.
Thank for sharing about this 🙏❤💕wonderful queen!!!
She was the epitome of grace, elegance and class! RIP💕Love you forever 🥰 Carroll Diahann Johnson........
This host really did his research... or either just a true diehard fan...

WOW WHAT A TREAT YOU HAD. 😍😌HOPE YOU GOT YO SAY HELLO TO THIS FABULOUS QUEEN AS WELL!!!!
I wished they would have refilled her water. If I were in the audience I would have mentioned it.
This is, hands down, the best interview I've ever seen with Diahann Carroll. It was so deep, humorous, and personal. Two hours to pick Diahann Carroll's brain - who could ask for anything more? I absolutely love(d) her and always wanted to meet her. RIP, beautiful queen.
Paul's preparation was excellent. It showed the respect he had for Miss Carroll as a person and an artist.
I thought the same exact thing, best interview
You are so right & I also longed to meet this fabulous, trail blazing queen of entertainment ❤😍💖💕♥😘. God bless her 🙏❤💖😊!!!!!
Why didn't I meet her before she went to glory.......
Rest in Power, Queen; you are left in the hearts and memories of many Mrs. Diahann
I love listening to Diahann. Her voice is so soothing and such intelligent conversation
I normally HATE when the interviewer interrupts this much, some how this guy makes it work. Good interview, research, and comradery.
*Camaraderie
I love, love, love Diahann Carroll. I’d no idea she had such a comical sense of humor: makes her even more enduring to me. I miss her. She was a true legend. 🌹❤️
The world is a little less beautiful without her ... Rest well.
Oh yes your right. She was so very, very special & unique & a fresh new level of class, grace, manners, determination & beauty 👏❤💙👌💖♥👏!!!! Miss her still.
She is absolutely fabulous and beautiful. When I grow up I hope to attain to this level of blackness. Thank you.
Ms. Carroll was beautiful and so full of talent loved her RIP until we all meet again. God bless your family. It hurts like hell when you loose a parent. My parents are deceased now but I had great parents. Peace and Love

...Rest In Beauty and Splendor Ms. Carroll.
I heard her nonchalantly hand him that line about Oprah's sending her jet to get her... And I new it was a sale!~
So fierce; dynamic; a lyricist ; a storyteller; Queen bee, RIP
DIAHAAN CARROLL YOU WERE A #FABULOUS #BLACK #WOMAN AND #TALENT & A #STUNNING #BEAUTY ... I LOVE YOU SO MUCH !!!! WISH I MET YOU , #DIVA
This is really wonderful, she shared stories during the interview that I've never heard her mention before. The interviewer was wonderful too, he was funny and informed. They are both gone now but this is a good way to remember them both.
True 👍, they are missed very much!!!
One of the best interviews of Diahann Carroll hands down.
Love her, full of class
She was very interesting and classy! I know she had a short musical show, but I think she would have been a great talk show host.
She had the first TV series by a black woman when I was a child & admired in our hearts for her many movies 🎥, plays, TV shows singing & classy style, strength, knowledge 👏💙❤😉👌 & beauty!!!!
Amazing conversation. Was not expecting it to get as in depth & personal. Thanks for posting this.
I read in a subsequent interview that she said of her marriages, she loved Monty Kay the most.
Something you do not see much of in today's media. Just a few minutes/soundbites.
Along with Ms. Carroll I sau R.I.P. to (interviewer) Paul Ryan too. I knew him well from Agape International Spiritual Center. I didn't know he had hosted a show for SAG.
Absolutely beautiful, Intelligent, funny, sharp and whitty. That’s a lot
Aunt Diahann. You Rock!
Rest in Power Sweet Queen.
amen
Oh how I miss her!❤️🙏
She’s your aunt?!
All around Queen with a capital Q. Carol Diann Johnson. May the good she left lasts forever.
Amen Richard Amen
Amen!
She was a hellov an act to follow!
Diahann
RIP
That was a Great interview and Great conversation I can't believe that I sat here watching this for almost 2 hrs but the interview was so interesting and her sense of humor and timing along with the truth and stories I could not stop watching and laughing out loud, I would have loved to have been in that audience that day. so good.:-)
1:03:40 She talks about death....very prophetic.
SHE HAD THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VOICE!
Miss Carroll is NOT the first Black actress to have her own TV series; more specifically, a situation comedy. That distinction belongs to Ethel Waters in "Beulah" (1950).
The Making of U Ms. Carroll has been Awesome!!!! Thank U....soooo much!!! RIP(The Making of U)..💞💟💓💕
Great Interview. Great host. Although he dropped the ball a bit when he was throwing out famous names, he could have asked her about Marilyn Monroe. Diahann and Marilyn chatted at the reception after Marilyn's infamous Happy Birthday performance for JFK in 1962. Although I've heard Diahann speak about that elsewhere.
Interesting. She probably knew that would end badly 😢😔 for our exciting, troubled, admired Marilyn as it did.
We miss them both 😢😪😔& how very unique & fabulous 😍❤😀♥they both were in each of there own lives & careers !!!!!!
Did not realize she was so funny
Brilliant, Profound, Talented A Lady. Thank You Ms. Carroll !!!!!!
Just watched this and it's definitely a treat! She is a true gem and legend. I hope to see a biopic of her one day. So many people nowadays have no idea about her contributions to the world of entertainment and how she broke so many barriers.
Does anybody know how I can obtain a copy of this interview? It is truly everything!! Love you Ms. Diahann Carroll.
Call the Screen Actors Guild.
Wow.. Such a powerful interview!
Diahann Carroll ,A sophisticated lady. Rest in Eternal peace❤
Interviewer: And that's mama
Diahann: That's mom
Interviewer(missing the hint): And mama was a nurse
Diahann: My mother was a nurse
He tried lol
I just adore Diahann Carroll for being an amazing trailblazer for so many reasons.
❤ RIP.
I agree we need to get back to manners, propriety, hope, conscious empathy, and kindness
O isn't he, oh look at him. She nailed it.🤣
35:56 1:26:53 1:31:28 1:43:27 1:48:15 LOL. I admire her honesty and frankness
She was my me for fight from the pages of magazines, television and movie and television screens.
Thanks you for sharing with me
My alltime crush..❣❣❣
Food for the mind
Being called "exotic" is not a compliment . But I realized it was a different time.
Loved her dry humor, such a lady, when he couldn't remember Sidney Poitier's name, you couldn't tell she was annoyed, "yes that name's familiar." Cool and intelligent.
Love her, 😇
MY CANCERIAN SISTER!❤️

54:36🤣😭
Was the swapmeet earring joke necessary..wow
I wish many black girls and women could listen to her speak. Ebonics is not the thing in terms of language.
If the girls were after what Ms. Carroll was after, then I could see your point. It was her career that she used as the catalyst for her different approach to her dialogue.
But your many Black girls comment seems more self serving for you.
Black girls and other girls, and guys, speak in their comfort zones.
Your discomfort with many Black females style of dialogue is quite suspect, to me, Mrs. CHEW.
@@dimitri.l.clark.5132 no. The commenter is absolutely correct.
We as a people (bc I am black too) have lost the desire on the whole, to be MORE, strive for higher and be BETTER
I loved Ms. Carroll but I need to correct this gentleman's announcement. The FIRST Black actor/singer to replace a white cast member was not Ms. Carroll. It was Melba Moore in "Hair"
I believe the distinction is one was a musical the other was a play...
"Who is Terran- ?" 😭
