Love these reviews, was fun to have Luis join you. Great job. I bought the original release, it's been quite a long time since I've listened, need to give it a spin
Thanks to Pete, Luis and everyone else on this channel who mentioned this album. This is one of my favorite albums of all time now. Will be getting the remix
Thanks everyone for the positive feedback this was something I always wanted to do. Finally, Matthew gave me the go ahead and Terry Brown agreed to do it. Thankfully.
Great album! One of my favorites bands! Have become friends with them over the past 5 years, we live in the same town.My band, Blue Black Hours has played a few shows with them. At one point, I was practicing with these guys to be their back up bassist.
I discovered this album a couple of years ago and listened to it many times during my long runs. “Into the Dream” is especially transporting, in my opinion, one of the great prog epic songs.
One of my two favorite albums (of any genre) from the 1990s (the other being Dream Theater’s “Images and Words”). I haven’t listened to the remaster yet but can’t wait to do so. Everything Matthew Parmenter has released (as Discipline or as a solo artist) is phenomenal but this one is particularly special. I might like it even better than any Prog album from the 1970s (or 80s) and that’s an extremely remarkable achievement.
Thanks for the review, gentlemen. I will order this version tomorrow. I have Window Dressing by Tiles. Edit: I actually ordered this from Amazon a few days
I've got this album and enjoy it very much. I learned about them after hearing Matt Parmenter's great Peter Hammill-like vocal performance on one song on Glass Hammer's Chronomonaut. I'm not sure I would want to buy another version, though. This may help me decide.
For whatever reason, I didn't come across this album til now, listening was definitely a positive experience, I don't think Parmenter sounds like Hammill any more than Fish sounds like Gabriel. The thing that impressed me the most about the album was the other Matthew in the band though, I think the bass playing on this album is outstanding, deep and melodic, in fact it is the basis for the other instruments, which holds the longer songs together a lot better than many other acts do. Not enough prog albums leave me excited to focus on the bass parts! The guitars and mellotron are tasteful. I am not sure what I feel about the lyrics yet, but I have only listened once, so hopefully they grow on me. Nice recommendation.
I saw them at a small club in Detroit opening up for Steve Howe on his pulling strings tour they blew me away, a Prog band from Detroit who would think. How awesome
Not a bad record, I have this & 5 other Discipline albums. Two good tracks on this record for me, "Canto Iv (Limbo)" & "Crutches" (best song on the album), both 13 minutes long. Named after the 80's King Crimson album you might expect more Crimson-like music. They're quite symphonic, maybe more like VDGG (but better & more guitar-based - I don't like VDGG all that much). I actually think this is one of their weaker efforts, I like Captives Of The Wine Dark Sea, Chaos Out Of Order, Push And Profit & Live Days more. The vocals are always high quality with solid guitars (check out the live version of "Mickey Mouse Man" off Live Days), some have made comparison's to Pete Hammill's singing but I think it's better. So all-in-all since I really only like a couple of songs I can't rate this one too highly maybe a 2.7 out of 5, but don't let that put you totally off this band & check out some of the other records I mentioned. Overall this band is definitely worth listening to, some really good 70's prog rock influences & vibes
Good show. Saw Discipline at RosFest and came away with a stronger respect for the band and Matthew. My wife couldn't say enough positive about the show. I had played Unfolded Like Staircase along with albums of the other 9 bands that we were to see. She didn't line it that much but live...outstanding.

I pre-ordered the vinyl blindly when Luis mentioned this album on a show earlier this year. In one word… incredible.
I'm buying this without knowing a note as well. Hope my ears have the same reaction!
@@axelmcleod8427 It’s fantastic.
@@axelmcleod8427 Thank you for your patronage.
The new remix is on Band Camp. Thank you guys for turning me on to this band. Ordered mine today.

I’ve had the original pressing for years, but what an upgrade. Well worth purchasing again.

This CD and To Shatter All Accord are prog masterpieces. Got to see them at Rosfest a few years back and fell in love with them

This CD is amongst the very best I own. What an incredible album...had the pleasure to see this band in Baltimore and Philly. Tremendous live too!
Great album and all good friends of mine. Great episode guys.
Finally on vinyl!!! What a record. What a band.
I loved the original release, but the new remix is stellar. Such great songwriting.

Thanks for the review of an outstanding deep classic. I have the 1997 cd but will get this at your recommendation
Got from the kickstarter, and it's amazing. I will be getting the digital downloads for my kids, so that the band can get some
Such a great album, checked it out when Louis mentioned it a few weeks ago. I need to checkout the rest of the catalog.
