If you can solve it with the center switched, then your puzzle is unsolvable. If a center popped out and you put it back in flipped, then your puzzle will be unsolvable. Just pull out the center and flip it back.
I got my Curvy today, and I LOVE IT! It's the 2nd hardest puzzle I have for intuitive solves (I can't seem to wrap my brain around sq1), and I think it's my new favorite! Thanks for the tutorial! I thought I'd have to refer back to it, but while I was tapping my foot waiting for the video to load, I solved my problem.
@redkb Here's a tip for solving the last triangles: if you do a jumbling move normally to swap two triangles, it will twist the center edge on the jumble as well. This makes you have to use the "helicopter jumble" algorithm later to fix it. To prevent any center edge from twisting during jumbling, twist that center edge and THEN do the jumbling move. This twists it twice, preventing it from flipping. So you don't have to fix it at the end. You can also...
For the "Solve the rest of the triangles", I can't get the blue solved. The two blues are on the same orbit... I think. One is where it should be, and the other is directly above it (not diagonally, so a jumble won't fix it). What caused this and how should I go about fixing it?
elektrikpulse61 it happens to me all the time its easy to fix you need to switch the bottom triangle with any other triangle on the cube then get the orange piece next where ur top blue piece used to be and switch it using jumbling with the misplaced blue piece once uv done that undo the switch and u will be able to solve it easily
Really helpful tutorial, thanks. But I'm on step 4, and I have all the triangles placed apart from1. That one blue is in the correct orbit but not in the exact right place. How do I get it in the correct place without messing up any of the other triangles
Thanks for this tutorial... I ordered a curvy copter, pyraminx and a megaminx from amazon and immediately searched "redkb curvy copter tutorial" . And of course your tutorial helped me, so now I can solve the CURVY COPTER. thanks!(:
This video is very helpful, the Helicopter Cube sat in my room for almost half a year. After pondering upon this video it was finally tamed, thanks for the help.
Got mine yesterday, watched this video again whilst solving it for the first time... I didn't even need to watch it again after that, this tutorial is so helpful and simple to follow, remembering the algorithms is easy too :D Thanks redkb!
Question: At step 4, what do you do if you have the green side near complete, but one of its triangles are switched with an orange on the opposite side (meaning that the orange triangle is below the green one)? All other sides are complete, save for the green.
Using the info in this video I was able to get my Curvy Copter back to cube shape. Then I was able to remember how to solve it by the methods I had worked out long ago and far away without consulting my notes. Thanks for the help. I'm glad I didn't have to take it apart.
I don't know if someone else already told you that, but in my solution for this puzzle (that is exacly the same of your solution except for some little cases), in the corner-switching part I use an algorithm that is actually 2 moves faster than yours. holding the already matched up in the back-right side, you do F R B R F R B R. what id does is that it switches in a counter-clockwhise order the non-oriented corners. Anyway, great vid, as always!
I managed to figure it out without tutorial and I know a move that is quite useful. It turns two corners on the front. F L R B L R F L R B L R. Hope this helps
I am having problems with step 5. I can do the pattern just fine, but two of my corners are correct and the other two are wrong.....what can I do to just switch two corners?
Thank you for these videos :) I had my heli cube sitting scrambled for quite a long time.. I used to know a solution for a non-jumbling scramble but it involved many algs so I forgot it and now couldnt solve it, but when I watched your videos I will probably never forget how to do this again, because your method is so easy to remember. And as a bonus I can now do it w/ jumbling ! :) Thank you for doing this once again :)
I really want to get this cube now. I already planned on getting it but now I want it even more because this video showed me it isn't as hard as I thought.
cool, step 5 is the only thing that really needs to be remembered. except for the 2 last sequences it's easier than with a classic rubik's cube to figure out what's actually happening. (probably because nothing happens on the dark side of the cube when you do these moves). thanks
I have a really weird case were all of the triangles are correct exept that one blue piece are swapped with a yellow one (I have yellow in top). It is in the correct orbit but when i try to treat it like a normal case and insert it like normal it messes up the red side. How do I fix this?
My friends jumbled the puzzle and then unjumbled it without solving it before handing it back to me. I was so confused in the unjumbled video because i thought since it was in cubeshape it didnt matter. Glad I checked this video out afterwards.
Thanks for the videos! I just got mine in the mail and was curious if you've had any problems with the edge pieces popping out. When I first started playing with it, I made about 3 turns and one came out, figured it was just a little loose from shipping or something and put it back in plenty tight, a couple moves later another popped out. I like the puzzle but can't seem to turn it without pieces falling out... Will probably have to glue them or something...
I've solved this many times but someone jumbled it and left one arm out. Finally got rid of the arm (not sure how) and since when I get to the final step i always have 1 corner piece wrong. No matter what won't go any suggestions?
I have a severe parity case on my helicopter cube, I'm looking at the blue/red edge with blue in the top, and both the triangles on the right are red and both on the left are blue. How do you switch 2 non-adjacent triangles on the same edge?
I am not being able to set the further upper triangles in the curvy copter. Every time i have the 3 colours with all the triangle arranged but the 4th side has 1 piece in the same orbit which when i try to place ,end up messing up the other colours. How do i fix it ????
Hi Ken, I'm having trouble with my curvy copter. I solved it enough such that one triangle-corner (you called them "arms" in the video) has remained jumbled. You can reach a similar state if you follow this algorithm: JFU FR and put back the FU edge. you should end up a misoriented triangle-corner on 2 corners of the cube. That's where I am at except that ONE corner is messed up rather than two corners. I may just disassemble the entire thing if I dont figure this out. Hope you reply soon.
I'm solving the last pair of triangles, they are next to each other but one is on the top and one is on the side, there is no space for them to pair up because all other pairs are solved, what should I do????
Hi this might not be of use to you now but what you have here is a parity, have the side of the cube with the problem face you, then proceed to do these moves: Notation: UF = turn up-front edge by 180 degrees, UF+ = turn up-front edge clockwise until first jumbling position DL DF FR (UR+ FL+ UF UR- FL- UF) FR DF DL
@ericfam01 That is an impossible case to get to. So just twist the edge that the corner rests on 90 degrees, and then twist the actual corner to the solved state and turn the edge back.
Thanks Redkb, I had a reversed weird situation from the 1 you had diagnally that had to be switched in the same orbit, so I just held the puzzle opposite from the way you held it and changed the algorithm from R L F JR F R L to R L JL F R L and it worked like a charm. You are top notch on your tutorials.
I have the same problem. One center edge piece fell out once and I thougt i fixed it right, but now I don't know which one I have to change back -.- Did you solve the problem? Can you give me a tip?
Thanks a lot!! I've been searching a tutorial like this for years!! I thought it was too more dificult to solve a jumbled helicopter cube than it really was. I suppose you're a great teacher ;)
Thanks a bunch! I jumbled mine out of curiousnes and couldn't solve it so I had to look up this jumbling vid of yours. Quickly helped me get it solved!
You should get/review a curvy copter plus, a master curvy copter or a master copter plus. I looked up videos on them and they looked awesome so I wanted to make a suggestion to you for another video review.
Hi, little french here, i just have a look on your tutoriel and i can say thank you very much. I jut still have a question you don't answer in this video. I think i have a parity. Does someones knows how to invert only 2 corners because i can't apply the 3-cycle, all corner are in place esxcept too. I tried a lot of algorithms, try to scramble and then solve it again but whatever i do, i stay at this position. Thanks!
I have it all solved except for 2 triangle pieces. I have yellow on top (I started with white and not red), green in front and orange on the right. The top-right green spot is orange and the top left orange spot is green. Anyone know how to fix that?
I cant seem to turn my curvy copter back into a cube there is always just one bit sticking out and no matter how hard i tried it wont go does anyone have a solution

Great tutorial. I managed to solve with and without jumbling. My question is, how do you get it into that checkerboard pattern, shown at the end of the tutorial
Olz Wheat thanks for the reply, but I did manage it myself. I was hoping there was an easily repeatable algorithm, but it actually required a few jumbling moves to get everything into the right orbit. But once it is checkered it looks AWESOME!!,
Hey I found a way, you just have to give up the 2 corners. Look at your corners and figure out a way to do the algorithm on one of the corners so they are all messed up but one. Then, switch to that corner and proceed.
if you are on the curvy copter, go to his non-jumbling tutorial and he will tell you the answer. if you are on a helicopter cube, there is a parity algorithm: JR JL F
How can a 10 years old video be so good?

Thank you a lot men, really. The only tutorials that I saw from you were this and de Gear Shift, and both were the best of YT. Thank you, really
I've watched this tutorial video at least ten times. It's awesome, I have all the algs memorized and can solve both cubes now! Thank you!
this tutorial was super helpful and it was easy to follow. I also liked how you put in the annotations to skip around that made it easy.

Minecraftster148790 thank you so much I was watching and two of my corners were correct
Yours tutorial is the most excellent tutorial for Jumbling Tutorial for the Curvy Copter and Helicopter Cube
I am having problems with step 5. I can do the pattern just fine, but two of my corners are correct and the other two are wrong.....what can I do to just switch two corners?
It's called "parity move" and I have the same fu**ing problem!
Or "parity case" I'm not sure
Same
How does it get solved?
just do the algorithm he shows with both solved pieces in front, and then after that recheck your case
Both of these videos were excellent. I don't even have the puzzles, but I watched both tutorials in full. :D

But what are we doing when on step 4 almost all triangles are done except 2 which are in one orbit. Then I mess up the others.
i solove this puzzle with jumbling and without by myself. This time i have big problem - only one of my corners is oriented wrong. What to do?

@16darkclone I'm glad I could help!

Solve it that way. Where each triangle is on its opposite side.
September 2024, still a fantastic tutorial. The only one I refer back to. ❤
Dang I just found this tutorial and when you uploaded this video I wasn’t even born yet
Soo, I'm stuck. My last two corners are in wrong sides. Yellow is my top color - back left corner has to go to back right. How do I do it?
I have a Problem: Just one edge of my Cube is messed up. Is there any algorythm to solve this problem?

How do you rotate the center edge pieces in step 4.
when im at step 4 igot only one side that is not solve but its in its orbit so can make video of it?????
And if I have 2 good corner for step 5 what I need to do?
two of my edge pieces is turned the wrong way is it any algorithm for that?
R L B F R L, works for me

hey! when jumbling, if it can be slightly forced over, should I do that?
Great tutorial, been struggling with this one all day
when i try to orient the corners on my Helicotper cube i gat one corner that is unsolved, can you help me?
I have it all solved except for 2 triangle pieces. I have yellow on top (I started with white and not red), green in front and orange on the right. The top-right green spot is orange and the top left orange spot is green. Anyone know how to fix that?
Hey redkb, how did you get the clover pattern on all 6 sides? I only figured out how to get it on four sides.
what if you end up with corner parity at the end? like on a 4x4 where two corners are switched. is there an all for that?
I'm stuck in the same boat as you, man.
I am a bit confused on how you find pieces that are in the correct orbit
Basically if an edge is in the correct orbit then you can put it into its spot without jumbling.
Michael how do I know which edges are in the correct orbit?
I cant seem to turn my curvy copter back into a cube there is always just one bit sticking out and no matter how hard i tried it wont go does anyone have a solution
Unsolvable! Take the cube apart
what brand are u using (for the curvy copter)
Someone help me with the edge trio thing. He's going too fast for me when it comes to the "IF YOU SEE A BLUE HERE HERE HERE HERE AND HERE THEY'RE IN THE CORRECT ORBIT" My brain gets all hazy because I can't memorize what's in the correct orbit.
+PlazmaCow yeah the orbits thing was kinda confusing for me too
+PlazmaCow same
nah dude, if you just mess with the puzzle and observe what moves, orbits become very easy to predict. Trust me just mess with it on your own it's the best way to get your mind wrapped around the puzzle and how it moves. I for one thought he went very slow and almost too slow.
PlazmaCow u should get a curvy copter and do the jumbling moves solved so u can see what it exactly does. it's pretty easy to understand
PlazmaCow help me
what if one corner isnt solved in the end?
Then you're f*cked. Take it apart ad put it back together.
+Redredret if it's just one corner, you probably just need to rotate it as it is. it was probably accidentally misoriented. yeah sorry this is a month late haha
Thanks, it was very useful, but could you please give more examples of cases?
I can't seem to get all 4 of the corners (on the last bit) in the correct location can someone please help?
Very simple and useful. Thank you very much.

another great walkthru mate. easy to see movements and good audio. what more could we need
I thought this puzzle looked cool, but have never solved anything more than 2x2-7x7... This video has convinced me :D
thanks redkb! your tutorial had my curvy copter solved in 10 minutes! and my times are only getting faster!
Hey I have got one question. I nearly solved the cube, but one edge is not correct. So all edges are solved, except one. What do I have to do?
Excuse me, but do you mean orientation or placement when you say that one is not correct?
Pop out the edge and put it back in
help me what if one is exactly above where it needs to go so the white price news to go bellow where it goes
i have that same case and i cant figure it out
expert frosty i had the same case how do you solve it
When I do the I think it is the 4 step whenever I try to put a triangle in it takes one out help me
Look at the part of the vid where he explains the strange cases you might have.
Thanks, i've solved my Curvy Copter cube, and now i can do it without jumbling
i'll check out your other videos, because you explain the methods as no one
Ty again
is there an algorithm for orienting corners that is shorter than FRBL FRBL FRBL FRBL FRBL FRBL ?
maybe*
sorry, i had to! :^)
***** You turn them 180 degrees, It doesn't matter which way :P
doesnt orientation come before permutation?
I have two corners in the right place, and oriented, but two are out of place and I don't know what to do. Any help?
Give up the other two corners and do the alg at different correct angles.
Great tutorial. I managed to solve with and without jumbling. My question is, how do you get it into that checkerboard pattern, shown at the end of the tutorial
I know it's a year late but if you're still interested, I did it simply by solving it as a checkerboard state, with minimum jumping required
Olz Wheat thanks for the reply, but I did manage it myself. I was hoping there was an easily repeatable algorithm, but it actually required a few jumbling moves to get everything into the right orbit. But once it is checkered it looks AWESOME!!,
Can you upload curby copter 3 tutorials?
How can i do this pattern with the curvy copter ?? 😭
For step 5, what if you have two corners in the right spot, and two in the wrong spot
HELP!!! I am on the permute corners step and need to swap only two corners and the algorithm isn't working!
Me too, what a blood bath :P
Hey I found a way, you just have to give up the 2 corners. Look at your corners and figure out a way to do the algorithm on one of the corners so they are all messed up but one. Then, switch to that corner and proceed.
I am having the same problem :/
if you are on the curvy copter, go to his non-jumbling tutorial and he will tell you the answer. if you are on a helicopter cube, there is a parity algorithm: JR JL F
