See my previous video • "Floating" Steel Plate... for this video to make sense.
I know it's been a while since i had plans to do this build but if you watch the previous video (a couple video's back) i explain why. It's simple. Security. I can't have this thing sitting out front of my house with 2 24" subwoofers and a ton of power just asking for trouble. I got to a point where we have too much nice stuff and too little places to actually park at night. But that has all changed. We moved almost a year ago and now we have a safe place. Now i guess the only thing we really need is time. Since way back then, my shop has gotten 1000% busier. It is hard to find time for this stuff. But i am determined to get this done! Stay tuned, more amp rack work coming soon. Wiring, finishing, bench testing etc. This thing is so heavy!
So far this is what we have:

Please watch the previous video for this one to make more sense! 👉🏽 ua-cam.com/video/4p7GJ3wh1yY/v-deo.html I have a lot more 2/0, 4ga, 12 and 16ga wire as well as the RCA's to run. This is going to get interesting soon! I have more plans to make it look even better! Thanks for watching if you did!
I gotta hand it to you bro. Your work has always looked amazing and sounds so incredible! Keep the videos coming..
Off topic but, Any idea when the copper flat post lug terminals will be available?
How do I get in contact with you, would like you to do my system if that is possible?
It would be awesome if you can put to get a k9 cage with subwoofer built in for my truck..
Out of curiosity, what kind of LEDs are you using to light up the amp rack? They look better than a lot of the cheap stuff I see.
I remember a couple videos ago you said you weren't sure if you were going to order another 90.4 to match the other. But deep down we all knew you would LOL
Can't express enough how much I have appreciated your videos the last 12 years, definitely top shelf content!
That metal rack won’t budge. EVEN if a tree falls on it. 😆
We use that same thickness plate to join Beams together on pool cages down in Florida..Always a pleasure to watching a master at work 💪
Great work as always , it’s crazy everything you need these days to stay ahead and stay on top in the Audio Game , SMD for the win everytime and you know this !!!
That bedliner came out amazing
Man.. That's so clean. It's so cool to see each project improving upon the last. The power of knowledge and learning is so incredible when applied to your life as a whole! You're an inspiration to so many people, myself included. I hope to be watching and following your builds for many years to come. Thanks for sharing your journey with us and teaching us along the way.
Damn looks clean ASF can't wait to see it all together and hooked up👍
just hanging out with you again tonight dude. learning
Man, your craftsmanship is absolutely outstanding
Wow this is the most coolest amp rack I ever seen, much love and respect from Mexico
Steve with the tools man! Damn, as a guy that came from a butter knife, dull scissors and a stripped Phillips screw driver doing my first install at 12 years old I gotta say I love this shit. Steve is what I wish I was going daily. Respect on 200!
gotta love that milwaukee hydraulic crimping tool
Man...it is a real blessing to have skills like that!!
That turned out great. The copper terminals is like the cherry on top. Def need a stout rack to be next to the skelator
How good is that Milwaukee crimper, makes it quick and easy to get cables terminated!
So glad to see you still going strong 🙏🏻 the OG basshead
sick build gives me some great ideas! My OCD caught the holes needed to be drilled and tapped before you welded so you could get the back ones one on the amps too.
Man Steve you do some of the best installs
Always such clean installations. Can’t wait to see this all done.
Nice work Steve. Looks great. That M18 crimping tool is badass.
SIIIICK!! You continue to inspire me, my man. 🤜🏻🤛🏻🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dear god it’s so pretty in real life as opposed to a drawing haha!! So clean and serviceable. Anybody doing work to it in the future will praise you for easy access. Plus my favorite part is the rigidity, that thing is sturdy as fuck
Dude you need to put this thing on a scale. That's some crazy weight right there!
Would be cool to see.
That looks so badass. Yet again another awesome idea from Steve 👍👍👍
I love wiring my builds as well it's the fun part for me
Steve always comes up with bad ass amp racks. This one is a damn good one!
thanks Mario!
Beauty work Steve!, Thanks for showing it!
Word up Steve spraying the amp rack rhino liner was dope to match the box. That damn 2/0 is insane by skyhigh you got the tools for everything 🤪😉. Coming along great bro nice touch with the L.E.D's brings it out more. Have a great weekend bro ✌
That drill stripper and crimper is fire steave
Freaking Clean, will be following this one just as I did the last one. 👍
Bro, you have some killer ideas in that head of yours!! Always clean💪
As if I'd expect anything less, but that is clean, and sick and hell!
thank you!
@@meade916 You're welcome. Thank you too! Been watching you since the beginning and have learned so much over the past what? 15 years or more. Anyways, can't wait to see this build fisnished.
Awesome turnout! Can't wait to see all those sexy wires.
SMD always innovating
Clean and easy to get to wires
God you do THE cleanest work Steve! Kudos bro!
Doesn’t get no better than this
Paint the tabs holding your SMD letters black, for a floating logo. Great work
nah. That would be even more noticeable. I kinda like the tabs. It's sorta "steely" looking. lol Thanks though!
Killer build Steve....
That’s a crazy build can’t wait to see it all come together.. How much extra weight have you added?
You blow my mind with the shit you come up with.
Wow what an amp rack 💯
SMD The Best of The Best 🙏🏽😎
Love ur work bro wish I could get one of ur systems
Looks awesome.... great work....
Man I wish you could do some like budget builds for us guys that don’t have thousands to spend or even some testing of some cheaper equipment. Go back to the basics of wiring. Show how to do a cheap system of just swapping out mid range speakers and tweeters. If there is old videos of that please let me know. Iv wired multiple systems but never amps to door speakers or to tweeters. It would really help. Been a long time subscriber for along time now love the work man!
i've done more than a few "budget" builds over the years. Thanks!
@@meade916 thanks for the reply. Been a long time fan and you inspired me to start getting my own systems in cars and you really got me into car audio. About to do a full system in my passat can’t choose between all skar audio with Tara snaps or go ahead and drop a good amount more for all b2 audio. Also in your opinion do you like Taramps?
Hey Steve, have you ever used (or considered using) RGBW LED strips? I've found that having RGB plus a dedicated White gives a quality to the light that's impossible to get with just RGB. Some strips will have the white LEDs separate from the RGBs, I don't like those. As far as I'm concerned the good ones have RGBW in each LED. You can get them in different color temperatures as well (cold white, warm white, etc). They are unfortunately much less common though, so you can't get them in many places that do sell the RGB ones.
Super clean!!
Love this content Steve keep it pushing I do rebassed music if you need some
Man what wouldn't i give for a system build by you on my 2 door mini!! no one wants to work on it since its electric and wires are parallel connected and i cant seem to figure it out lol
Hey Steve will you be uploading a video on your wire run for this vehicle?
if your giving away the old dc 90.4...well old is gold..i'll be happy to have it haha
Always clean mead916🔥🔥🔥
O SHID...them wire/crimp tools tho...boneriffic, gotdamn dude. Looks great bub, classy af
looks great ...nice work ..
thanks!
Beautiful!!!
Did you just unbox without the steak knife. 😮
it probably got sent out to get sharpened lol
I wonder how much it cost for smd work/labor anyone? I remember gately was 250hr if I recall 😬😬
Holes under the amplifiers would have made the rack lighter and promoted Cooling and Air Flow.
thanks for the sweet advice. Post up some of your amp rack vids on your channel. I wanna see how you do it.
Yo?? I'm an electrician. Tell me what those wire strippers please!!!! Freaking amazing
Almost all his tools are milwaukee
Check out the Milwaukee M18 Cable Stripper
What do you charge for a rack like that? I need one for 3 amps
Are you going to ground the Rack too with it being all steel?
Looks real nice, yet.
Nice rack, how heavy is it? and upgrading to RGBIC would be cool.
nah. Not really into any special blinking or patterns. I just like a simple color to compliment the rack and that is it. I never been into that disco shit on my racks or in my systems. Thats too much going on.
Hey Steve how does the rattle can Raptor liner add up to the gun and bottle kit? Amp rack looks killer by the way!
the bottle is way better. The rattle can seems to not go very far compared. It was enough for the rack but i damn sure wouldn't want to actually bedline a truck bed with it. Thanks man!
@@meade916 thank you for the feedback! I use the shit all the time and love the bottle stuff!
What model of your brand are the power and ground my lady likes them and wants them in her build thanks
Figured the fosgate amps would push it but u went dc
What's the 3m tape called he uses to hold it down that tight. Exact name please 🙏
I need some advice I have six P3 12s Rockford Fosgate Subs and what would be a good cheap amp to power those
GOOD LUCK TRYING TO STEAL ANY OF THIS ONCE ITS IN! GENIUS!
I used that 3m tape for my RC cars. Shit is no joke!!!!
Freaking awesome
sen bu işi yapıyosun kardeşim
steve bro quick question i have 6 12's 2 ohm dvc . im wired to .7 ohms trying to get to 1 ohm is it possible?
What type of LED do you use and where can i purchase?
Paint the top amp mounts black so they blend in with the amps.
nah
What was the track at the end... Flexes 😎😎
If you don't mind me asking, what is it that you do? I remember you saying that this car audio stuff is just your hobby and you don't take on customers. I know it's something to do with manufacturing, I was just curious.
Look up Smd audio and you’ll see what he does for a living. Steve Meade Designs (smd) is probably one of the most well know companies for audio multimeters in the car audio industry.
Steve manufacturers fittings and parts for car audio but that's just one of the many things
@@tayotellechea3184 Ohhh for some reason i never put that together, I've seen those SMD parts/ devices everywhere. I thought he just sold them not design and manufacture them. Makes sense, thanks!
wccaraudio.com will explain everything for you bro!
Steve are they Harbor Freight tap Bits?
What kind of LEDs and controller do you use?
Why is car audio power wire so much bigger than house wire? 12-14 volts versus 120 volts....
I “think” voltage drop on DC is the reason. Homes are AC. But I’m not an expert.
Sundown amps would of pulled ut all together or dc subs but don't think they make a 24
so i did all this work and i still didn't get it right...i should have consulted with you first to see what would have pulled it all together. Damn! lol
Nice
Good Shit!!
What about cooling where the bottom of the amps have the slits in them? Will that ever be an issue
these amps have this one thing called a heat sink. A great invention. They will be good.
@@meade916 wasn't trying to come off as a dick. Was legit curious I've been following since you were posting when the Tahoe I believe was goldish
@@mostknownunknown440 didn't say you were.
@@meade916 ok I thought maybe I being 1 of the dickhead trolls nah brother I support you and your business. Your engineering is unmatched when it comes to this shit
@@mostknownunknown440 He is a dick to anyone that doesn't nut hug his work.
Nice 🔥🔥🔥🔥
To use the dd1+ and set the gains is there any diference if i set gains car running with alt giving 14.4v or car off with 12v any difference setting gains in this 2 options? Thanks
shouldn't make any difference
Sick

Hell yeah
Why bigger cable for small distance ?
The name of the game is POWER!!!
