It’s crazy that they didn’t even scale the images to properly fit within the confines of the rooms! Looks like playing on a patchwork quilt made from scraps. What a totally bizarre decision from a company that is usually so good at aesthetics.
Are the images literally lifted from other 'modern' WHQ boards? (Hammerhal, Cursed City, etc.?) or are they new? either way it seems odd that they wouldn't rework them at least a little to be cohesive ... but that's a minor gripe.
I'm glad to hear your input on this. I ordered a copy as soon as it was announced, hoping it would be Cursed City lite. It sounds like they have some interesting innovations going on. I also have the skeletons and the Eyes of Nine so that'll be sweet to use real models.
Thanks for the positive review. I want this game so bad, to play with my 11 y.o. We really enjoy the 3 Space marine adventure games and Blitz bowl. To bad I can't get the English edition in Europe.
I feel like the map would work better as a single board, HeroQuest-style. With a large general location, different parts of which are explored in different quests. Might also give good basis for custom quests - again, like HeroQuest. I mean, that game is revived now; this is one of its ideas that might actually work in modern games.
Great video, I enjoy these small box games. 90% of my gaming is solo as my kids are too old also. This sounds good like Space Marine Adventures Labyrinth of the Necrons.
Preferring solo-coop games this sounds perfect( I usually end up with 1-2 player games these days, with my brother ), but the presentation isn't quite what I had hoped for. Still, I'd rather have a good game when it comes down to the crunch. Good review.
Two things: Where does it say that a hostile will target the hero that just took an action? I don't see that anywhere. Also, I don't believe a hostile performs all of their reactions per each hero action - only the first viable one ... for example Deathrattle Skeletons will only attack, or move, or rise ... not all three. Or maybe I missed something?? Great video btw
On page 13: "If the reaction includes more than one action, the player resolves each of them in the order in which they are listed." As far as targeting heroes, it's always the closest hero if you can. I may have misspoke or flubbed my words in the video. But, it's always going to be a hostile that is "visible" to the hero that is the one to act (also on page 13 under the Reaction step). But that hostile will move to closest hero first and then down the chain from there.
@@DriveThruReview I think page 13 was saying: if there’s multiple Actions within one ReAction. Like how some reactions have two action icons right next to each other. Not that you perform all 2 or 3 ReActions
I was going to purchase this until I saw the board... No way for me. That's just terrible and I can't understand how it made it through the design process.
I really had no interest in another dungeon crawler until I saw your chained dice mechanic. Now I want to pick this up! One question. How was the difficulty? Did you lose any of the games you played? I have Space Marine Adventures and it’s a fun little game for my 6 year old son and I, but we rarely lose and I don’t even use the special equipment cards to keep it simple for my son.
It's not super difficult, but I did lose a couple of times. Once you figure out the puzzle of the scenario, it will come down to the luck of the dice. You don't really wipe in this game but win or lose the scenario.
Thanks for the review! Can you use other WHQ heroes with this, either out-of-the-box or with some minimal house-ruling, balancing issues not withstanding? I guess not. You might have answered this in the review, I 've only skimmed through at this point. The trashy boards are curiously not a turn-off for me... WHQ: Trash Hunters
Salutations DTG and community! Thank you for the review; I completely forgot about this board game-😁LOL! I remember the GW community website mentioned this and a few other games months ago. Looks like you talked me into going to my locals Barnes and Noble. While I agree not every GW board game that’s a Barnes and Noble exclusive have been a home run they have, at least for me, been overall worth the money(ok maybe Rise of the Orks is pushing it). Speaking of advice I am grateful for you review of Cursed City. I wonder though what you think of the newest expansion that was just announced? I mean no minis-really!?! Cheers!
I think it is a great light dungeon crawl. That being said don’t buy this game if you are looking for something deep and with plenty of character customization ala sword and sorcery or gloomhaven etc… this game is good but it is definitely on the lighter side.
Looks like a cool game, but those Underworld sets are not available any more, and the game isn't sold in English in the EU,, only in German. B&N are happy to ship games to Asia or Africa but not the EU. For my country B&N is happy to send it to two islands in the north atlantic with no or tiny populations, but I can't get it on the main land. It's absurd.
I like the look and idea of this game (quick dungeon crawler), however being UK based I am unlikely to be able to buy a copy. Do you know other games that are similar in mechanics (enemies move after you, rolling dice, choosing actions), is it very similar to any other GW games? P.s. love your channel, will you be reviewing Oathsworn?
Thank you. I'm not sure off the top of my head on that specific mechanic. I feel like I have played one game where the enemies react immediately like this... but nothing with a reaction chain etc... Oathsworn will be hitting the table this week actually :)

Ya. I really like the game design aspect of it but the graphical choice is like…. huh?

@@aquilaprimedesign Yes - they more mostly from Hammerhal.

Blitz Bowl is so good it gets a shout out in everyone's Lost Relics review :)
Haha. I bet it does. :)

Yeah I canceled my preorder after seeing that board. 🤢

No. You can't use other Warhammer Quest heroes as-is.
Bought this on your recommendation and I’m really liking it! Thank you!
Glad to hear it.

Ya. I didn’t look too closely at Cursed City expansion. I didn’t see that there were any rules changes that would sway me one way or another.
The 'jaws of the lion' version of whq. Not a bad idea it just seems too basic to me.

The heroes are the same as in Harrowdeep too.
That's right. I knew I had seen/built these before. Haven't got around to painting those yet obv.

Can you string the scenarios together into a campaign?
Yep. That’s how it’s meant to be played really. You can also do them as one shots though.
Thanks!
Great as usual
