I don’t see myself going back to Adobe. I’m very satisfied with Affinity!
Affinity have done a really great job with their apps. Especially how seamless it is between the desktop and iPad version.
@@IanBarnard Yes, i keep an very good eye on Affinity as well. I use it sometimes. But that said, There is no competition at this moment for Adobe with there huge CC package.
Agreed, as imperfect as Adobe CC is, the integration of all my devices ease of use between my Mac, iPad Pro and even my iPhone (though I rarely use this for any serious editing) keeps in the Adobe Eco-system. Don't get me wrong, I love Affinity Photo, but the lack of a DAM and any syncing between the iPad and Mac is a huge negative for me. I was hoping that Affinity would have addressed this by now, but seem to have little interest in competing with Adobe in this area. I am also very disappointed that other developers which have some very interesting products (I am talking to you Skylum, ON1, DXO) appear to have little in developing iOS options.
But Affinity has a drawback. It dosen't support new .CR3 RAW format.
So here at adobe we recognised that pc users really wanted there own alternative to procreate. So here at adobe we saw this massive opportunity to give them just that with adobe Gemini. So for you pc people out there we have made Gemini only for Apple users. Confused, dont be, just know that we have given pc users nothing for 2019. Your welcome. But what we did do is demonstrate our appreciation of your loyalty and custom by giving you ctrl z in Photoshop.
So never fear here at Adobe we will continue to misjudge what YOU the users want and we won't be happy until all our valued customer have left for other software thats either free or, just getting better than us. Happy 2019
Thank you for making this informative video, I love Affinity and Procreate. It has allowed me to create on My IPad Pro as well as my desktop, they work excellent and the work you can produce is just amazing! Thank you again for sharing great information 😊
Watch in 1.5x speed. Save yourself time for other things.
Thanks man!
Anyone remember Fractal Design’s Expression? That was an early attempt at raster & vector app back in the 90s.
Any mention of the perspective grids and rulers? This looks like its going to replace Adobe Sketch. The blog does say iPad first and Windows and Android later. Looking for a Surface Version!
Why do you use Affinity? How does it compliments Procreate?
Very informative segment and appreciate your insight! I never thought about purchasing Affinity Designer and after watching your process it makes sense to improve workflow!
ProCreate can change the game if on the next upgrade it includes vector files.
Thanks!
Procreate and vector would be the ultimate program for me!
PaintStorm FTW
Maybe the pen tool requires the apple pencil. Would be kinda quirky to do it with regular touch anyways.
On The Verge hands on video they use the Pencil but nothing seems to appear. I've signed up to check out the Beta version so we'll see!
I'm so glad i waited. This is the first Apple product I am going to buy. As an fellow digital artist, I really think this is A great investment. Also, you are very insightful and I appreciate, from what I can tell is your honest opinion on these tools.
I see, learning from Affinity :D
What's the stand you have in the background with all the brush
Are there any illustrator features missing on Afinity design app? Can you use it as a full vector program like illustrator?
It doesn't have image trace, 3D and distortion effects. But if that doesn't matter then it could do most of the things illustrator can do.
The demo PS app was a beta and I suspect the lag and missing tools (see the Verge's hands on beta review) was due to that and them not using the newest iPads (A12X chips) coming out this year.
Though does that mean it's only really going to work on the latest version of the iPad Pro. I've only recently updated my iPad Pro so would be annoying if it didn't really work on it.
I too don't know why it took them so long to put the ctrl+z for multiple-undos. It's always made me so annoyed!
But I love that now you can make both organic gradients and synchronic vector edits on Illustrator, I've been waiting for this!
It can't of been that hard to change it. The guy mentioned that people had been asking for it for years, so why didn't they change it earlier! Those gradients do look nice. Looking forward to using them.
It'll be awesome to really have that upgrade for photoshop on iPad! It's a long time coming
Too long. It will have to be miles better than Procreate for me to make it my go to app for creating.
Photoshop for iPad Pro only or iPad 2018 also?
Project Gemini is awesome.
More videos please, Ian! Love your channel.
Thanks Sid.
Will the photoshop app be compatible with the first gen 12.9 iPad Pro?
Lets hope so!
It should be. There’s no reason why they should make it exclusive to only the later two versions.
I really like the project gimini
Does look very good. Can't wait to try to.
Great vid Ian.
Thanks mate.
