She is only 23 ! She is going to save the world of Jazz Music ! Damn her control is insane. She has no competition. There is a difference between an Artist that can just sing and an Artist that uses its voice as a Intrument. hitting every single note very clean with a good support. This is rare today and we must protect that girl at all cost ! She deserved that BEST NEW ARTIST award for 101%
One of my absolute favorite jazz artists! Her tone and delivery is so dreamy. Her elegance reminds me of my longtime favorite jazz singer, Nancy Wilson!
Samara Joy is 23 and born in Bronx, NY. She performed this song in the Grammy pre-telecast (before the televised broadcast). She's definitely talented. And her winning Best New Artist was an unexpected surprise. I don't get why a lot of people are pissed off about her winning. It wasn't like there were strong Best New Artist contenders this years. I don't know if I agree when people say she won't be remembered because there have been many jazz artists that have had long careers. But I do hope she has longevity and successful career.
@@codyives5409 Yes. It was presented towards the end of the show which is very unusual. Usually the Best New Artist category is presented earlier in the Grammys. This time, Best New Artist was presented towards the end just before AOTY(Album of the Year).
Thanks for that info!! She's important for keeping that style alive!! Not everybody wants to make the same kind of music...I think it's refreshing and she got a standing ovation in front of the industry's most important figures...she'll be around!!
She’s actually a classically trained soprano supposedly. There’s a clip on Tiktok of her singing a coloratura soprano aria complete even with a high D.
Miss Joy also has a gospel background. There is a video of her singing with her father and grandfather. (ua-cam.com/video/4Z516AoEht4/v-deo.html) She comes from a long legacy of music.

ABSOLUTELY ❣️ She has such a beautiful gift!

Samara Joy is the Sarah Vaughan of our time...
Her vocal gymnastics are off the charts.
I only hears of her about a month ago and started search for anything on youtube I could find! The ones from her music studies in college even....Wow!

Did they televise when she won the Best New Artist award? She definitely deserved a Grammy.

I can definitely tell she's trained!! Her technique and poise are definitely there!!!
I Was Really Happy She Won The Best New Artist At The Grammy Plus Her Album Is Off The Chain Also She’s Remind Me Of Bille Holiday 👏👏
Same here!! She puts me in mind of Ella Fitzgerald!
@@iamrufusjohnson I Can Agree With That.
Really? To me she sounds NOTHING like Billie Holliday! Not many I can compare her to, but maybe Nancy Wilson.
Overjoyed
