Samara is absolutely one of the greatest vocalist in the last century, bar none. Her performance of this song in the Today Show is just unbelievable. Look forward to seeing her in December.
Love your reaction to Samara Joy. It's the way I feel every time I listen to her which is a lot recently. Only found out about her about 4 months ago when I came across her concert with Emmet Cohen in Verona last year. Watch her recent performance at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam - not just a singer of brilliance but is a natural with the audience too. Wow!!
I was so happy when she won the Grammy for best new artist because it’s so nice to have such a change of what society deems popular. Girl can saaaaaaaaang. And at 23 to have the technique and tone of billy holiday, Etta, and Bessie Smith, Nina Simone, and Dinah Washington is just mind blowing.
That Sarah Vaughn, Carmen McRae, Ella Fitzgerald mix in her voice is just amazing. It makes me so happy! You have got to react to her new single "Tight". It is short, but wonderful!
nick, it’s been a sec my dude. anyway, if you finna check out more jazz, she more contemporary, but this one I’m finna drop on you, you can call it contemporary/smooth jazz, R&B, whatever, but this is a friend who actually put me on to Samara. you gotta look up my friend, her music name is Castella. she has a new song out now called Intoxicated Love. I think you finna flip. she good, and I know this for a fact cause I actually been hearing her sang for years. we actually know each other in real life, so it would be a big one if you could feature her for me. I was actually shook and shocked to see that this girl I knew from church, and we played together at times, actually a singer on the rise and actually charting.
I really believe it's a conspiracy the way black people are lured away from being like this and encouraged to be urban "street" ghetto trap rappers and etc. Sorry. I said it. That is what I think. I love black people because I know they are great and have been the greatest for so long. I even found novel enjoyment in the gangsta stuff in the early 90s but enough is enough. Black people are amazing and should reclaim their throne at the top by just reclaiming what they always did through the 30s through to the 70s (arguably much earlier as well, low-key).
She is like a mix of Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan. You can hear a little Nancy Wilson too.
That's who it is Sarah Vaughan!

She reminds me of Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald but with her own touch. EXCELLENCE ‼️
I love her voice he reminds me of herself, nothing but herself this is unique voice 💕 it

Now a three time Grammy winner! Amazing

Stunning in every way!
She's 23
That was beautiful...🤩👊☝️🖼☝️🎇
Love the intro!!! She has a beautiful voice.
Sarah Vaughn
Yeah that's the one!
She's 23 years old
Her, Phyllis Hyman, and Sarah Vaughn
Also Jill Scott & Kim Burrell
It's a culmination of Ella's Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson and a little Gloria Lynn!

She sounds like you better ask sum body, cause sum people don't knowwwww!
This is a correction. Samara Joy sang 'Guess Who I Saw Today?' Live on Jennifer Hudson's show, not Tamron Hall's Show.
She sang it on both shows
@@stephaniewoods5323 She sang 'Can't Get Out Of This Mood' on Tamron Hall's show.

Lest we forget, the overtones channeling the incomparable Sarah Vaughn......
Chrisette Michele tone sounds very similiar
I think she sounds like ella fitzgerald combinded with sarah vaughan
For me, she continues the legacy of Sarah Vaughan and Dinah Washington.
Sarah Vaughan
Are you thinking of Sarah Vaughan
Irritating tone to my ears
yo, @CastellaMusic, look.
