Love this! I completely agree - as someone who has struggled to be inspired with my practising, I find that I always need an ‘edge’ to get me committing an hour or so to my guitar once the kids are asleep. That edge has recently become playing along to soundtracks (highly recommend Man of Steel or anything by Hans Zimmer frankly). Guthrie videos gave me the idea - now that’s some inspiration. Love the channel, John. I’m a relatively new subscriber but you’ve quickly become my favourite.
Hi! I missed this a year ago. I could have listened to that track for a couple of minutes before you started improvising. Brilliant chord color choices right before you came in.
The focus of these exercises remind me of Béla Bartók's Mikrokosmos. really, really useful content very well presented. This will keep me busy for weeks :)
Putting on Spotify and playing over stuff is pretty much the only practicing I get done. Recently it's been McRocklin & Hutch. Synthwave with guitar shredding
My dog usually likes to come and sleep next to me if I'm practicing guitar. He genuinely seems to enjoy the sounds and does that squinty thing dogs do when you pet or scratch them well, but if I try doing slow bends or slide playing he will jump up and run away. Do your dogs to that?
Cordy, Droney, Legato. Yep, you've got it covered. 😉 I'm always trying to add some spice to my noodling so it goes better with a real dish. Jamming and practicing to music is more productive and fun than playing to a metronome. Thanks
Intro jam sounds a bit like “Call Me Maybe”? (Edit: written before I got to the talking portion of the video.) The speed and precision of your legato playing are off the charts!
Do you ever have problems with carpal tunnel? Ive been playing for 8 or 9 years and I cant tell if I just need to build the muscle strength back up for this sort of playing or should be careful with my hands.
The long distance would be a killer, so I I don’t think I’ll call you…maybe. 😂😜 Aloha bud. Thank you again for the great content and ways to use basic skills to help enhance other skills.
6:14 to remind me
I heard your intro and thought, wait is this the pop song "Call me maybe". Yep same chord progression.
Great contribution. Subscribed. Thanks
Yep, more of this please!

Every day - bloody amazing, world class playing.

Thanks for this. I've been playing a long time but my lead playing has got in a rut and this has given me something new to have a go at . 👍

Is there a video that shows ascending Eric Johnson style pentatonic scales. I feel like all the videos I find are descending.

How rabea does mini EP releases with his grinding gear demo songs. I feel you could do the same with your intro jams mate :) just an Idea
Also more legato lessons please I really appreciate this one :) Thank you
I want that track to listen to please

is this the american pro 2 ?
"Practice? Nah, man. You just gotta feel it. So what gear do I need to buy that will let me play like Holdsworth?"
😆
Thank you for a super informative and interesting lesson on playing legato!
M8, you sick xd. cheers!
👍👍👍👍👍
Is this a helix tone? If it is, can I fine it in your bundle? Great playing great tone!
Check the description dude, you can purchase it through that link.
I have already done that duuuude. I need to know the name of the patch to find it though
What are you using to get this tone?
We need to meet your puppies. How about a pet video for your pet loving guitar community?🤣🤘
Lesson
Legato always made me feel lazy. I probably should be practicing it more myself.
More of these lessons would be great.
I swear English people are always the best at guitar I’ve yet to see a single mediocre English guitar player 😂
