    Hi both, THE top of a bakewell pudding ,IS made of something called frangipane .frangipane is made of ground almonds ,sugar ,butter and eggs. THIS IS a soft pastry cream ,some recipes have flour added to make them a stiffer mix .I had a pear tart in York sometime a GO. And I managed to reluctant the best I could. For the recipe you will need short crust pastry ,line a 7in" pie tin with the pastry trim and prick the base and bake for about 20min. Till just golden then add the tind drained pears ,AND the frangipane topping ,then bake for about 20mins until golden brown on top.Take care and all the best. Hopefully this will help you understand. 😊😊😊😊

    Finally -a real Bakewell pudding, not the fake Mr Kipling ones. This is a real achievement Richard, well done. I used to pick these up 2 or 3 times a week for family & friends (I don't actually like the standard puddings). There are only two shops in Bakewell who make true Bakewell puddings (slightly different), anything else is NOT Bakewell pudding lol. I hope you both enjoy them ( they are very rich), again Richard you have gone above & beyond to get them over to Tina & Ross, I wouldn't have thought it possible. I am writing this at the beginning of the video & I cant wait to carry on. Love all the vids you do - thank you.

    *experiencing severe Bakewell Pudding envy here 😢😢*
    Oh my days! What fantastic food goodies you have there!! You have so much to look forward to, eating sticky puddings and crumbles - with custard!! A cannot imagine eating a pudding that needs custard without having the custard! In fact life with NO custard on a pudding is just 🤷 well, it’s the opposite - an UNLIFE! 😳😄
    I’ve been lucky enough to also enjoy a “proper” Bakewell Pudding, when we visited the town of Bakewell in Derbyshire - it was one of those “this is the real deal moments”, like eating a ‘baked on the premises’ Cornish pasty and Cornish icecream whilst IN Cornwall; fried fish (n chips) freshly caught the night before in Whitby and a huge home baked Yorkshire Pudding that had been served with gravy made from roasted beef, by the lady who ran the B&B where we were staying - it just makes those traditional and “local” foods taste extra “special” 😄
    I also subscribe to Cara and Jeremy (the Geekdom) and see the joy they get from sampling traditional English/British foods. They are back in the USA now and they did a “live” VT when they answered our questions. They said they were so happy to rebuff the comments in the USA that British food was boring and horrible and Cara is desperately missing her treat of a cream tea and the fish n chips where they live is just meh and they miss “our” fish n chip shops very much. They went visiting British Columbia in hope that a little bit of “Britishness” was there - and it was - as it was pouring with rain! 😫😁
    Looking forward to watching more taste tests - as long as you remember to press the button marked REC or 🛑!!
    Happy chomping and respect the holy grail - the custard! 😂😂

      Hi Helen; hope you enjoyed the Peak district (born in Darley Dale) spent a lot of time there. • @weedle30
      @weedle30 5 місяців тому +1

      @@rthoc71 no I haven’t tried Cartmels…. But give me a few days to check what I’ve got in my freezer/cupboards and see what needs “using up” and a polite request for something sticky and puddingy might be posted off to them! 😂😂
      So that was the last box of goodies you are sending them? I think they have enough to last for at least six months with all the lovely treats you have posted off to them! Do you subscribe to Steve n Lindsey? Searching for his roots channel? He’s been receiving lots of nice stuff too - enough chocolate for them to open up a mini Cadburyland! 😁😁 and he’s decided he now likes drinking British tea and eating our biscuits! We are gradually converting them over to our “non bland or tasteless” foods!

    • @weedle30

      @@jeffmarriott I LOVED the Peak District! I Went down a Blue John mine, went to see the Well Dressing in Buxton, had a ride on a tram in Crich (saw a tram labelled as being from where I lived in Woolwich SE London!!) and saw the Chesterfield church and its twisted spire (hubby broke my souvenir picture plate of the Church, that I had bought in the gift shop! Grrr 😡😡😡) and of course, ate a “proper” Bakewell Pudding in the shop - it was so good! (I also found a very expensive looking SLR camera that someone had left behind, strapped to the chair where I was sitting! I handed it to one of the people working there, I just hope the owner remembered where they had left it and got it back!)
      I would love to be able to return to Derbyshire but I am wheelchair disabled now and can’t get about - being wheeled down those tiny cobbled streets, the bounce would be 😣😣😫😫 hard on my rear end!
