The 2600-series cars are nearing the end of their 40-year livespan rolling into retirement in the 2020s when the new 7000-series cars take place I hope they don't experience any issues with any parts
I am glad that you are hot on the trail to keep these rail cars in good operation. I know that if you get even a report of a station stop announcement being late, you guys are hot on it to correct the timing to make sure that the announcement time is right. Like if a Red Line train is approaching Addison, the announcement "This is Addison" is supposed to come on BEFORE the train arrives at the stop. When I filed the complaint about that announcement when the train stopped at Addison when it was supposed to announce it before the train came into the station, at least I see the one that takes the write up and forwards it to the IT guys to correct the timing so that it announces the stop BEFORE the train arrives at the stop.
Who assembles the consist for the run, the operator or the shop? Meaning if im due to run a 4 car train rolling out at 1100 does the shop have someone assuming the set is waiting or does the operator have to build the consist?
Rubber tires have other disadvantages, like higher energy consumption, tire blowouts, more friction generating more heat, and shortened tire replacement intervals.
It's a 24-hour service, so these trains are driven a lot. The system also has quite sharp curves for a heavy rail system, which causes additional wear and tear to the equipment.
It’s so funny I applied for this position, got called to take a written test pasted, then took a hands on test & never heard back from them, this is going on 3 years ago. Put a lot of work in studying just to get pushed aside & forgotten!
CTA is so cute! Too bad they don't have the signal systems we have in NYC to prevent the wrecks they've had. Its cool Chicago, you're a small market. We get it. Boston too, where is the signal protection? I guess you guys are kinda small. Enough track in NYCT to go from NY to Chicago. Maybe some day you small fries will learn.
Sir, Texas is building a modern edge High Speed Rail that will cross through 3 major cities and cover hundreds of miles in a matter of a few hours with no taxpayer money, while your Cuomotastic little rusty sardine cars keep breaking down after another rat takes a New York shit on it
The more you make the more they take has always been bs to me. I feel like that should only apply to corporations that actually have money to take. Why do they have to take so much from the common worker?
Thank you for keeping us safe.
I always wondered what y'all do to the rail cars at the train garage.
That's awesome that you do this for each car for your customers safety.

Let's be all honest here. We we're all looking for a glimpse of the Holiday Train in the repair bay.
DMX be making a side hustle respect 😎👍
What about the buses?
I’m going to miss the 2600 series when they retire
what happens if you're driving the train and you need to poop
mahzorimipod lol, I'll tell those folks, "I'll be back, gotta go meet the Browns"
Funny u say that i am riding the blue line from jackson to ohare and i switched cars cause theree was a pile of poop and paper and beer

STFU it's public property
@@iAmBrothaDee If it's public property, it should be free to ride, or even live inside of.

norbertdx The yard switchmen are responsible for putting the train consist together, either they will do it in the yard or at the platform.
I wish I can work at this job in the future since I’m 13 as my opinion
2:35 the laptop don’t even work 😂😂😂😂😂
Yup, saw that hahaha
Lol omg your right
Why doesn't CTA use rubber tires like some other metros around the world? That would reduce noise wouldn't it?
Rubber tires have other disadvantages, like higher energy consumption, tire blowouts, more friction generating more heat, and shortened tire replacement intervals.
Only 6 months for the wheels? Seems like it should be at least a couple years.

You probably failed
Hey Keith how was the written test ? Anything I should know ? I’m scheduled for the 30th of November for the track worker position.
@@zopound7688 track worker or rail car maintenance? I have the test for rail car maintenance and I can email it you if you want it or think it’ll help
@@yusufabdul-jalil4889 give me your email address and I’ll sent it to you
@wehatekeith 👋 hello I've just been scheduled for car repairer A test. Do you still have the questions? I appreciate it. TIA
How do you become a rail operator? I can never find any information
Me either, I just applied for the track worker position
@@zopound7688 I think you have to work as a track worker first unless you already have operator experience
Flagger then rail operator
if you worked there you wouldn,t ride it because you knew the truth
Random comment is random.
That’s true.
Clean them train
This is one of very very VERY few managers that knows the job at CTA . They got a lot of woman managers now that can't manage a hot dog stand.
They sleep they way to the top
How do they not see or smell the pee and poop in the cars.
However Chicagoans are real AMERICANS who can legally carry loaded guns in public for personal protection. What about New Yorkers?

Lmao NYC trains are literally the least on time in the country, stay mad

You wanna make $1700 every 2 weeks then this is your job. They take so much out your check it's disgusting those mechanics should make over 2k .
