I am in awe of how you can paint something like this -- the eyes look so incredibly real like you're looking right into the woman's eyes...the entire thing is just stunning! This style of beautiful soft oil painting is the most beautiful of all in my opinion.

I love portraits that don't try to be a photo. Your body of work and artstyle really stands out. The beautiful stylization and movements of the brushstrokes that only paintings can bring, the colors that play the perfect balance of dullness and vibrancy that doesn't try to mimic reality, but rather elevate it. The deep understanding of the facial planes, shape language, tones of the skin. Everything comes together perfectly, and it's so beyond me. 🥹 I still haven't tried oils yet, but if I ever would, I hope my works could be as beautiful as yours. Thank you so much! The time I work on a painting varies depending on its size and complexity, but in general it takes me anywhere from 20 hours for smaller paintings to about 40-100 hours for medium and big pieces. I like to work on a painting over the course of several days-weeks :)

Wooow! That’s gorgeous! I wish I could paint like that. What colors do you use for the skin? Well done!!
Thanks! I mainly use a palette of essential colors - Burnt umber, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, Ultramarine Blue and Titanium White. Sometimes I also add Alizarin Crimson and Lamp Black to it.
I like to premix some tones for the skin before I start painting; those serve kind of like the main basic colors. But then I adjust them while painting to catch all the little changes in color that skin has (some areas are more red, some are more blue or green, etc) :)

Excellent do you use only linseed oil or do you add a thinner to it?
I stopped using solvents/thinners in my painting process a while ago. I just use linseed oil

When I paint on canvas, I put a few layers of acrylic primer or gesso on the canvas and sand it in-between layers (with fine-grain sandpaper) to make a textured and yet smooth surface. Preparing the surface for painting is an important part of the process

Beautiful work! I notice your linseed oil is very clear, what the difference between the linseed oil that you use and the other types?
Here I used bleached linseed oil, which is lighter in color than purified linseed oil or any other type. I don't think that there is a big difference between them. I just feel like this one won’t be as prone to yellowing the painting over the long run; however different sources say different things so I’m not sure, but I’ve decided to try using this one currently.

I wish you would include the part where you mix your colors.
It may seem boring to you and others, but I actually find that part the most fascinating.
It’s so satisfying to watch how you turn basic primaries to realistic skin colors. I comb through your videos just for the mixing part. It’s just so satisfying, I can’t explain it. Like the satisfaction of watching slime videos. It’s just so fascinating to watch. I would even prefer it more if it wasn’t so sped up so much.
But sadly, most of your recent videos cut the mixing part altogether… 😢
