There are a lot of beggars in India, particularly in Delhi. This encounter was particularly difficult. I refused to give money, but they did not react to this at all.
Eventually, I had to make a run for it to escape. As I did so, other beggars joined the chase and I had to make a break for it across the street to get away.
In most cases, I NEVER give money to beggars (there are exceptions). Sometimes I buy food, but mostly what I prefer to do is donate to organizations that specifically work with getting people off the street.

Fr tho, at first i used to give them some money cause i felt sympathy until my parents told me the harsh truth that we should never give money, as it all goes to the ones behind it, the children would get nothing but like a single bun or something as a reward. I've deal with it once...but one day I acted like a kidnapper.. (I did this because the kid was not leaving me and was pulling my dress which made me feel very uncomfortable and pulling my legs because they wanted bigger amount of money…. They were scamming me)like told this kid that my money is currently not with me she'll have to follow me and she did...then I pretended to be on call saying, "yeas.. I got one kid.. I'll take her first then another one". Within seconds she disappeared....
