Man. This brings me back to my youth. Doing 350km or more three week trips in the middle of Quebec in an old 85 pound aluminum Grumman Canoe and an old canvas pack. I even had a black lab with a white crest named Ruby along for the ride for company and warmth. Never seen a dog tree more black bears than her. I could almost taste the sand in the tea and feel it in my sleeping bag while watching this. Not to mention that soaked to the bone feeling from paddling for hours in the pouring rain. Very few people know that incredible feeling at the end of the day when you're muscles burst with ache and you crawl into that dry sleeping bag inside the warm tent. Paradise. I was even jealous of those palm blisters in your hand from working the paddle all day long until they hardened like leather baseball gloves after the first week or so. So glad I watched this. Oh to be young again. You're living the good life lad. Enjoy every minute of it.

I actually got your book for Christmas but I would love a copy for my grandfather. He was born in St. Anthony in 1935 as a British citizen. Brought back a lot of memories of bygone years.
In the early seventies I did medical clinics in NW river twice a year, that was the era of cable car crossing the river.
Also remover a number of moose hunting trips into granite and Victoria lake, on a road in through Miller town that often did a bad job on our camping equipment.
While living on the west coast and northern peninsula my wife and i spent the best part of fifteen years canoeing, salmon fishing and camping in the main brook and rodickton systems.
Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing your next posting.

What a fantastic series! You've done it again. I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed watching this. The journey itself has got to be incredibly difficult and on top of that you're filming with multiple cameras and watching out for the incredible Saku. Even though I know you finished the journey some time ago, I'm still on the edge of my seat wondering if you two are going to be ok. That's incredible story telling. Great job!

Totally awesome first episode! Had me on the edge of my seat. That one night when your tent was flooded, I had a bad feeling about that when I saw where you pitched it first with all that rain coming, I was worried river rise and would get too close. I was shocked a few minute later to see it had happened. Glad you were safe. Cheers!

Funny, as I was watching you set up the tent after the first storm, I was saying out loud, "don't pitch that camp so close to the river, cos it'll rise for sure.......and voila'.... I've been caught like that before. the narrower the river, the more it rises in a storm. Bon voyage buddy.

@@magnussandstrom3874 first spot was on a lake so water wouldn't rise there the same way. Trackless thick woods along these waterways, not an easy to find a good spot after 10 + hours of solo travel! Thanks for watching.

A grand start my friend. Funny thing. I live in a big river area. And when it was pouring down I though "he`ll be lucky if he aint got his toes in the water come morning" Ha sure enough. LOL. I`d like to ask why you choose to start down river. But then again, where would be the adventure in making it easy eh?

    • @JustinBarbournlexplorer

If you plan on travelling a long distance in a canoe the old way eventually you have to go up a river to go done the next. May as well start that way. Thanks for watching Craig!

Although the money would be good for Justin I think most of those TV shows are too fake. They spend days waiting to get a so called great shot or waiting for the right weather to get a drone up. They also create artificial scenarios to make story and misrepresent those stories with editing and narratives. I think he does a fantastic job on his own...you know it real this way and he isn't staying in hotels overnight with a camera crew.
