I'm impressed how well Melissa can film and keep up running alongside the bike during the action shots.
🤣
Hhahahahhha
This is hilarious. Makes me want a tree service motorcycle/side car.
Side car! Might have more room for stuff that way :)
just go full Amish with a horse and buggy. much greener.. plus the horse can likely pull trees over.
plus the horse might help with the pruning on site. brilliant
Loved this vid! You’re on to something! Electric everything is coming. Get yourself a bicycle surfboard rack for your rakes, pole saw, Big Shot, etc. All your tools will be secured with bungee cords.
second level of storage! I like the way you think
I somehow knew we’d be seeing this more…. … I’ve been commuting on an electric skateboard with a lightweight backpack rec-climb set up……this, I’ve thought about for years and am just now doing it! It’s been fun. I’d say keep up with yr thoughts and roll with the times. Thanks for yr work
I like the sound of that skateboard! Good way to arrive to the climb all awake and ready to go :)
That’s rad! Ithica’s a cool place, skatepark there is super fun.
the skate park! absolutely, when it's not flooded :)
Where there is a wheel , there is a way , let me make clear !! You aim to please !! LOVE that bike !!
hahaha
Kevin Bingham (inventor of the rope wrench, rope runner and more) once had a green business with a regular bicycle, 2-4 inch chipper and a wagon. He tried it for a little while before moving to "regular" setup. This reminded me of that and thought you might find it interesting.
Oh cool! I didn’t know that about him :)
You are always innovative. Thanks for sharing
Bro I swear the right people will pay a premium for this inventive and epic service
Yeah I'm thinking the same way ... gotta advertise it a bit more I think
Flipping awesome video , you sir are the man !!
big thanks buddy
Hell ya
we'll see where it takes me, ya know
New concept 👍👍👍
Great idea Spencer - no need to apologize. I see lots of gardening companies in Vancouver with a similar setup.
Gotta love Vancouver! What a great town :) that’s cool to hear
Thought about using a setup working in town too, but with a regular bike and gas saws.
I could see it working out on lots of jobs - and the added benefit it ya get a ride out of the deal
@@metaspencer Zero emissions except if you have beans for lunch 😂
Reminded me of the wine-o scrap haulers around with a bicycle and cart behind going to the junkyard, but a nicer bike and cargo instead 😀
I need some wine out there hahaha!!
Awesome idea! Can’t wait to see that beastly bike haul over a big hog of a spar with a nice 5:1 ;)
5:1! tied to the seat post and ready to pull! :)
Hey Spence.. it's Jimmy palms' that is how I trimmed trees down here in sw Florida...no e bike but it worked...till save $for ford ranger. Ford ranger
That’s cuz you’re tough my brother!!
@@metaspencerlol. thanks brother 👍 so are you... Seen you do crazy jobs solo...
Not gonna lie, I saw this coming. I think I might get a subaru baja and get to work with that. Cheers Sir!
I want that Baja! :)
Ha! Given the last video with the old truck I was worried about your E-credentials. That's me put firmly in my place.
When I was younger and fitter I had such notions with a regular bike and carpentry tools. Definitely limiting but what the heck. It's a great idea!
Perhaps go vertical on the trailer with some kind of A-frame fore and aft, with ridge pole to connect? Aluminum tubing. Brackets or hooks applied. (Kinda like those advertising trailers.) All power to ye.
I like those ideas on the trailer ... it's definitely gonna need some mods to actually work out there. In the meantime I'll be wrenching on the various gas guzzlers around here haha :)
Enjoyed the video. More like a "Not How Video". The bike is out. A small E car is in (marscarsllc). Along with the wonderful Echo DCS2500T, add in the bigger Husky 540I or maybe the Milwaukee M18 FUEL saw. This video was entertaining.....kinda like one keystone cop working a tree service side job.
Haha yeah I keep hearing good things about those other saws :)
I just bought myself a 2000W electric chainsaw in the week. waiting for delivery... I went for electric exactly because of the noise factor... I dont want to annoy my neigbors or draw unnecessary attention to my gardening efforts. :-D nice bike dude
Cool to hear mate. I’m eager to hear how it runs
I love it! The carbon footprint of the business bothers me. I was thinking of doing something like this
Definitely nice to get a ride in -- another bonus :)
In tech terms, it’s a concept video for a new service to show investors. Now you need an app so people can order and pre-pay before you ride out there! No refunds or cancellations.
Nice way to frame it. thanks for that :)
The E-bike tree service seems to be post-apocalyptic! I admit: I miss the F350 sound and the noise of the chainsaw. They go hand in hand with the sound when the tree falls. They may be missing today, but in 10 years everyone will say: "Of course with the bike, did you do it differently before"?
You said it man … big differences on every level
I have one of those trailers, Why not make a larger platform for the trailer (extend it out front and rear)
I think that's the way to go! good idea man
Nice idea Spencer. Is that first field where you built the hunting blind many years ago?
You’ll need to do a chestnut update soon. My chestnut seeds aren’t cooperating so far. I’ve only got a dozen or so sprouting. They’ll be planted soon. I’ve grafted 75 apple rootstock so far this spring. I’m going to be busy in April
planting. The 18” snow from last weekend is gone now. .
Close to that field but a few tree lines over. The spot I was working is close to our creek and a big dump of plastic trash on our neighbor's property. I keep meaning to ask them if it's okay if I clean it up. Sorry to hear about the seeds! Seeds are tough ... at least a few sprouted. What rootstock do you graft the apple onto?
@@metaspencer I am trying Siberian crab for the first time this year. I also used M111. M111 grafts easily but, the trunk grows bur knots if they get exposed to too much moisture. The Siberian crab is good for colder zones but, will work in zone 4&5. I had used B118. They grafted well and grew fast but, just when they get to bearing age they had a tendency to snap off.
Woke up late and this video was on my phone thought I was in another world ..I got scared...😅praise God..lov ya😅😮
the horror! the horror! haha
@@metaspencer I freaked out because had just opened my eyes ..at first I thought was dream. 😂...
I used to use a full size van for all my (Electrician) stuff. Now I use a Honda CRV I think you would like that better. I have a 4000w pure sine wave inverter in back with a 100 amp hour deep cycle AGM battery that can run a 30ft Genie lift or that corded saw you have. I use a smaller 300 watt inverter to charge batteries for tools. Those semi flexible solar panels are awful the specs on those are lies. A rigid solar panel with aluminum frame half that size is all I need to keep the deep cycle battery topped off.
I wondered why I wasn't getting more juice out of that flimsy folding panel!!! I like the sound of that 4k inverter. I've got a smaller one but didn't know you could get that much power out of one. I've gotta try that! thanks for the ideas man
@@metaspencer I was looking for at least "3k watts pure sine wave" to handle the lift's start up amperage in the middle of a parking lot with no plugs. The price was right for "4k watts pure sine wave" so I got that. Pure sine wave will keep it from damaging or overheating the motor.
@@joeshmo5399 awesome setup man
@@metaspencer A charge controller is needed also. I set mine to stop charging at 13.5 volts. The 300 watt inverter can get it's feed through the 40 amp controller but the 4k watt pure sine wave inverter is connected with car battery clamps only when needed.
@@joeshmo5399 ahhh yes charge controller. I think I messed with one of those a while back ... it's cool you figured this all out
Adequate mobilization to the job site and production work completed, Call that a win. The only drawback is if you need a crew, people might think it was a biker gang.
Exactly! May have diversity with skateboards :)
Why we uploading in 720p lately champ?
woah how'd that happen?!? Doh! must have exported in the wrong setting. Thanks for catching that
ET goes home, or cares for home? Fun vid
must has Reeses Pieces I guess :)
Hey Spence, the electric thing could work nicely. Just put down a mortgage on an electric pick-up.
and a generator to power it when the battery dies :)
@@metaspencer 🤣 aye aye
Sadly, I think you may be on to something. I do think this video is hilarious. With that being said, I do believe the market may be there, in many places across the country. Years ago I was paid to do a demonstration on taking down and processing a maple tree 20 inches across the stump. With an ax ,wedge, one man cross cut saw and a bow saw. That was in 1986. The man made his kids watch all day. Then the whole concept was to prove when someone was driven they would go to great lengths and endure much pain to achieve their goals. I quoted 12 hours and 1000 dollars. He said 2000 dollars if I could finish in 8 hours. It took just over 6 hours. What I would have given to use the electric saws of today. The point of sharing this experience is people are likely to pay a little more for an all electric service just to make themselves feel better and help their cause and agenda move forward. I salute you and your entrepreneurial mindset
Wow that manual take-down you did sounds like a real challenge -- and you did it! 6 hours! I'm eager to see if customers take me up on it. Even a few jobs of this kind might be interesting ... so we'll see. thanks for your insights and that story. wow!
Sides on the trailer? A rack on the trailer for longer items with totes beneath?
gotta do something to fix it up for sure! I like those ideas for sure
@@metaspencer I envisioned scaffolding... but lighter... and smaller LOL
@@selfretired3025 yeah thinner aluminum tubing should do it :)
Electrees or Electreesity
Electreesity! hahaha ... good one
I feel like if trucks stay as expensive as they are now or get worse, we'll see a lot of setups similar to this in the future, especially in small towns/cities in the Eastern US, where towns aren't as spread out. To be honest, I wish we had gotten a nuclear revolution instead of an electric one. Imagine a nuclear climbing saw, or a riding to a job on a Radium-Bike... They could run without refueling for years!
interesting points there -- I hear ya about the costs of trucks. The prices make them impossible to buy for so many. Radium bike! Now there's a UA-cam video for ya haha
Hey man, i used to follow your prison bus conversion project back in the days. What became of it?
I finished up the bus, then realized after a year or two that I didn't use it much so sold it to some young dudes with a dream and a pocket full of cash :) That was a SUPER fun project for sure
@@metaspencer ah I would've loved a final goodbye video. was really fun to watch those updates. I always immediately pressed that notification.
By the way if you don't mind sharing, I'm curious now how much did the bus actually sell for?
@@areebshaukat5840 This was the final video: ua-cam.com/video/8HVHTFPMR6k/v-deo.htmlsi=0ltPhq-6ltv3wXy1 ... I can't remember how much it sold for but it was definitely less than I put into it.
Mmm
That’s interesting, but you’re on to something for that area.
we'll see how it goes :) I gotta say it's kinda fun getting a bike ride outta the deal
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh there not going to be happy when you get that Diesel powered 18 inch wood Chipper..😲😲😲..
Made me laugh!!! 18” beast oh how nice that would be in comparison to the 0” one I run :)
Hmmmm...I'm thinking you might be on to something here. I think if you could set that bike up in a trike configuration with some extra "juice", you'd gain some storage and range. Hmmmm... I'll let you try and report back!😂
Annnnd some more storage. I see what you're thinking there
how much wase the garage price togheter??
Of what? The bike?
@@metaspencer the container barn
@@ohgarage9371 Oh I see what you mean -- built it using second hand trusses (mainly) and as many odds and ends as I could find, but still ran me over $30k
@@metaspencer when i by myself a house im gonna do the same
@@ohgarage9371 you'll love it man!
Love the greener option, Spencer! Every little bit helps mother 🌍 earth. Love crunchy Ithaca too❣️🌳🌲🪵
