5:10 - Hand saw is key ! Nice work with it. I feel like hand saw is a lost art. Every body just wants to cut cut cut.
I completely agree ... the hand saw allows for lots of control, cuts fast, and allows that other hand to do some key directional work. Which reminds me: gotta clean the pitch off mine!

I remember those year with dump trailer and hand loading, heck I remember the year when hand loading and hand unloading lol because I didn't even have a dump trailer. I now have 6 trucks/trailers/mutiple excavators and skid steers, 19" chipper and multiple stump grinders. Life gets better to those who hustle.

I like single stem trees too! I just did crispy one like that, lots of "fluff" from the branches to rake up when they are that dry.
Oh yeah that raking never ends. It's like a self chipping tree: dust by the time it hits the ground :)

Granted , when climbing residentially , we are never truly alone. People for blocks will be watching the entire time , often enough. What a cool video brother . For over 15 years now it's always been me my truck , trailer , good stihl saws , climbing gear , and a solid client base . Bring some people in during big rigging , but I thought I was the only one climbing alone , and enjoying it , lol stay safe brother ,,,,

Your mini skid video came up in my feed and than I watched this one. It's really nice to know that there is more people and climbers that do things solo. I work with a crew but often do solo rigging jobs. Look forward to watching some of your other videos and new ones to come.

Yea, tree jobs! I was panicking there when you were climbing the wobbly tree, yikes but the view was amazing. Lots of fun to watch and I appreciate the home owner holding on to the stump for yard ornaments. I have a wildlife habitat in my back yard where I toss Christmas trees from people who buy the cut trees and recently had some trees trimmed so I added more branches to the pile. I have hawks and owls around me so the birds and squirrels needed a quick escape near the feeders, I love it. The stumps are great because they break down and provide food for woodpeckers as they rot. Kinda ran off the road there with my comments. Anyway, glad to see you out and about and staying busy. The container barn is looking great Spencer. Have a great weekend!

Love these videos man. You should pick up a Notch Quickie for your cinching spar tie-in. They're only 45 bucks and they reduce the risk of that biner opening if it slides along the bark when you weigh your system.

That little 2511t tore through some big wood on that job -- it always surprises me. :) Did I mention that I have a mini skid on order? It's an odd one but may arrive some day

I remember Echo was the best little saw in the 1990's with the carburetor and air filter in the front -near bar.. Do you remember Tanaka?
I never used the Tanaka but have seen a few on eBay ... I should pick one up!
Nice job. I like solo jobs just as much as team jobs. But I do prefer having a guy on the ground who can call the 911 for me if I get hurt

Does Anybody remember when Tanaka was the best little saw? before Echo. How do you lik ethat little Echo now a days?
I like the little mini echo: light and rips pretty well! I tried a few of the other Echo saws but that 2511t is still my fave
Why was the first tree left in that state with so little leaf structure on it?

I've tweaked my 2511t in a few ways (muffler, tuning) ... but can't remember if I yanked the limiter caps or not. I'll have to dig into it! great little saw that really rips.

Couple of questions. How do you retrieve the other end of your rope after you rig a limb down ? Also what do you use for friction control when rigging from the canopy- a mini porta-wrap or something?
Do you ever get frustrated working alone ? I feel like there’s so many times when climbing or rigging lines get too tangled in brush below to pull back up or other little problems that may arise- popping a chain, running out of fuel on your last cut, needing a bigger saw, dropping something like a handsaw and needing it sent back up etc. sucks to have to come down for stuff like that when all you would really need would be an extra set of hands on the ground.
I’m all about it though, that is not a criticism just wondering if you got any tips or tricks. I’ve done some jobs solo before and those are the things that frustrate me to just want to have someone on the ground just for circumstances such as that.
Hey man, good to hear from you. I should put up a thorough video on my solo rigging line technique, but until then I'll just say that the line is always fixed on one end in the tree with the limb never tied on but clipped onto a loop or bite in the line. Yeah solo work can get frustrating but I work pretty hard to only take on the jobs that will run smoothly solo. I walk away from the work that needs a couple of sets of hands and that works well for me. And then I build in lots of extra time -- so a six day job is not that unusual for me.
@@metaspencer awesome to hear. I feel like working alone forces one to be creative and ‘Inventive’ in some aspects - coming up with new ways to do some things and That is deff a big plus. Love the content ! I will stay tuned for a future rigging video

Oh yeah, it's been a great trailer (and a money maker). Soooooo much better than the non-dumper I had before it. The green beast is a 16-footer. It'll easily dump full loads of logs but struggles a bit with gravel :)
Hey spencer, quick question: I saw on many videos of yours that you lower a limb on a rope, and I'm wondering how that works. Do you retrieve the rope by going down and back up? or do you use several ropes? Maybe it's obvious and I just don't see it. Thanks!
Just one rope in a retrievable rigging line setup. I keep meaning to make a full video about how it works, but the basics are to anchor the rigging line in the tree and lower the limb on a sling so the rope slips off of it and can be used over and over

I drove by there the other day and nothing was going on: no carving yet. I'm guessing the carver guy takes some time to show up. If/when it ever takes shape I'll make sure to post about it :)
For the first tree, why not a sea anemone or a shark?

I completely agree with you! I think the carver is gonna show up and follow his inspiration: I thin an anemone is likely! can't wait to see it :)

Good job man! Thought I was the only one doing jobs alone. Climber groundsman combo. When I have just one groundsman while I climb we can get a lot finished. Same as a four man crew with guys not having enough to do. Stay safe man.
