Studio Link is a really great feature for having a very smooth workflow in Publisher - I totally agree with that. You have to be quite aware, though, of "what happens where" as this might get a bit confusing in the heat of the moment while designing a complex layout: so when you add filters or adjustments to an image placed into the layout by switching to the Photo Persona these do not necessarily become part of that image or photo as such but are layers which eventually reside in the layout document (as layers of that specific page). If you want to save these adjustments directly "into“ the photo/image itself you'll have to doubleclick that placed image in the Layers palette to actually work on the linked file (given you're preferring to work with linked files as I usually do). Then saving that linked file will update its placed instance in the Publisher layout. However: you have to be careful in case you have other instances of that placed image somewhere else in your layout which maybe you actually like to have in their original state or with some adjustments done just in the Photo Persona. These other instances might get updated according to your editing (via doubleclicking) and updating/saving of the linked file. Which again will make them look more or less different than before in the context of your layout! So: Studio Link is a great feature but you'll have to carefully look what you're actually doing!
I am so glad I watched this! I have all three software and use Designer to design jewelry and complex shawls, Photo to capture the finished item and Publisher to work on my books that use both the design and final product photo. This makes it so much easier rather than having to close and open the other applications. This should make my workflow better and thank you again for this information. Never would have looked at it otherwise.
I really love studio link. I’ve been using it for about 4 months and absolutely love it! The one downfall about it is that all your brushes, assets, pallets or styles are shared from the stand alone programs. So if you use AP or AD with lots of extra goodies like mentioned above then you’ll need to reinstall everything inside of studio link. I really wish Affinity could have all that working together. Baby steps I guess 😁
Thank you for explaining the studio link which I have been using the whole time since it was introduced. But you can do the basic editing (adjustments, etc) of pictures in Publisher without using the studio link. But to use filters you have to switch to the Photo Persona inside Publisher. But he development and liquify personas in Photo are not availble in the Photo persona in Publisher. The turning graphs you asked about, I think is done via the Designer persona, using symbols.
I own all three and discovered this when playing around with publisher. I don’t really use publisher that often. I mostly use designer for storyboards. I occasionally use photo for lite image editing. I still bounce in and out of designer and photo separately since they both can open up saved affinity files. Maybe I should just open my projects in publisher and only use designer and photo for workflow. Most of the time with my storyboards Designer lets me do most of the things I need but its nice to have the option. I agree with you that this should be available in designer and photo. If you own two they should be options in the both of them to work like a full design suite. Adobe still has issues importing projects from different adobe applications and it isnt as smooth of a workflow as this is.
I know. I think oyu can even see it in the Video. I didn't make a video because i am focused around photo editing.but people asked for it, so I did a video after all ;)
So i understand it, if i want to have the ability to switch between the softwares, i need to have all the 3 app (publisher, designer, photo). Can't i just do it with only affinity photo and affinity designer ?
Not really. What it does is, that it opens Publisher or Designer separately and then edits it there. At least that is how it works for me. But that is just a "edit in...." function. Not the very powerful StudioLink integration.
So to have this Studio Link work as it should, I would first purchase all three programs and then in which particular order would I install the three programs?
Good question. From what I can find Photo and Designer are treated as Personas of Publisher, but don't have own sub personas in that moment. You would need to open the specific programs to use those. Still huge benefit to have Studio Link

Waiting for Affinity video editor. That's the one I want.
Just get DaVinci Resolve.
01:39 "Transform Objects Separately" is what allows you to rotate several selected objects. It's an option for the Move Tool
Awesome! Looks really cool. Thank you

Sounds great :) If you need two or three of them often, this should really speed things up for you :)
You always make such good videos and tutorials, so I quickly bought you 3 cups of hot chocolate. Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas
Awesome! Thank you so much :) Merry Christmas to you too :)

Yes, that's really a downside. Not sure why they do this, because it already shares the same base software
Why don't you install all your extra goodies through the studio link (that is through Publisher) from the very start?
@@aleale11000 you mean inside the different personas?
@@OlivioSarikas Yes, of course! I do it this way. It is easy and effective.

Cool, but like you say I'd like to flip between Photo and Designer that way as well :)
me too :)
Serif really should add Placement Policy "Linked" in Affinity Designer, its in Affinity Photo and would be very useful in Designer.
yes, totally :)
Wow, I missed the studio link announcement. Loving this!
Glad you like it! :)
It's been out a while, been using it since day of it's release, back in 2019.
I know. I think oyu can even see it in the Video. I didn't make a video because i am focused around photo editing.but people asked for it, so I did a video after all ;)
Adjustments and effects you can find Publisher persona too. It's is filters that you can't get in Publisher persona.
Good to know. Thank you :)
Can I still have studio link even if I only bought 2 products from them?
I have all three of these apps, so definitely going to check them out. Thanks Olivio!
Awesome :) Hope you have a lot of fun with this amazing Studio Link function

As always, very informative 🙏
my pleasure :)
You do have StudioLink on Photo and Designer as menu selection under the File, but not as the Icon on the toolbar
Not really. What it does is, that it opens Publisher or Designer separately and then edits it there. At least that is how it works for me. But that is just a "edit in...." function. Not the very powerful StudioLink integration.
Great Info. Thanks.
Great breakdown. Thank you! Does studio link have a purchase cost? Where can it be bought?
To get Studio Link to work, you need to have all the three apps (Designer, Photo and Publisher) installed.
So to have this Studio Link work as it should, I would first purchase all three programs and then in which particular order would I install the three programs?
yes, you need all three. The order of install doesn't matter after that :)
Move Tool > Transform objects separately option
awesome :)
What about personas inside these personas? Like Liquify persona from Affinity Photo?
Good question. From what I can find Photo and Designer are treated as Personas of Publisher, but don't have own sub personas in that moment. You would need to open the specific programs to use those. Still huge benefit to have Studio Link
This is what I was wandering too.
where is affinity animation to compete with adobe animator??
And video Editing, Special Effects, 3D and digital Painting?
Not sure, but would be cool :)
what is the meaning of that question?
Are these programs supportive of the Arabic language?
I don't know, but there is a free demo you can try :)
@@OlivioSarikas thanks a lot 🙏
