Greetings from Ethiopia, your northern neighbor. I am planning to start poultry farm next year. While researching, I came across your channel which has been very informative and helpful. Thanks for the information and keep up the good work.
Thanks for the tutorial. But I will like to add that as an egg production farmer, you are not expected to sell single eggs to final consumers otherwise you will have a hard time selling all the eggs. You are more or less like a whole-seller who sells to retail outlets. Retailers would therefore, expect to buy from you at a cheaper price and resell to final consumers to make their own profit. Here in Nigeria for example, eggs are sold to Retailers in crates. A crate of eggs contains 30 pieces of eggs. According to your calculation, that would be 30 eggs x 0.1 dollars = 3 dollars. But you cant sell at this price to a retailer because you are expected to allow him re-sell the eggs and make some profit for himself. So, what you should have done was to divide the 161,210 eggs by 30 which would give you 5,374 crates of eggs. And assuming you peg the price of 1 crate to $2.5 instead of $3, what you would have will be 5,374 crates x $2.5 which will give you $13,435. And if you minus your Total Cost of production ($10,937) from Total cost of Egg sales ($13,435), you will get a profit of $2,498 and not $5,183.25.
The reason why he used a 72 week calendar year is because of the growth period it takes for a bird to start laying eggs (18wk - 22wk). Subract that from an actual calendar year, you have between 50wks -54 wks. This makes a lot of sense. However, you may shorten the calendar year if you purchase the chicks at the grower stage (20weeks old). I advice against that because you will miss out on the lessons learned in catering to day old chicks.
Depends on how many chickens you have and if you are doing cage system or deep litter system. I hope that helps. For 500 chickens, 1 worker should suffice.
We are using "cumulative total". To mean the total number of eggs produced per bird within that period and not everyday. We derive the figure from the egg curve Eric
Could you check your math? If the chicken produce 329 eggs per year but start producing after 5 months ... assuming production rate is equally distributed (which isn’t) then your production in year 1 should be 7/12 (number of months in production that year) * 490 birds * 329 * $0.1
@@OOOOO0KKKKKKKK Year 1 is still 12 months... so if someone is running financial projections he can't just neglect the fact that he will be bleeding cash for the first 5 months of the year (12 months rolling) or his break-even point will be wrong... maybe you want to say over the life of your project or 72 weeks ... anyways, I got your point and thank you for sharing your experience. I am building financial projections for a similar project, thus the question

What about when you sale off the kitchen after laying period. Is that also considered as profit?
Of course good profit

Wow! You are the best
Thanks
Hi Antonio, thanks for the informative video. Why do you assume 100% lay rate for the chicken? Is it attainable practically?
No its not scientifically practical

my 10 layers lay a maximum of 15 eggs a day
He did not. The chickens lay for like ~384 days but he said each chicken lays 329 eggs during that time.
Please I need the previous video... I am new here
Thnk you so much for this very informative video. You have my sub. Can i ask why is it 510 instead of 500 you less 20mortality?
At the time of buying the chicks, most breeders will add 2 chicks for every 100. Meaning he received 10 extra chicks at no cost
How do u clean these carges
Here in the Philippines what breed do you think is the best for laying? Thnks
Hello....how many times do you feed your chickens per day please..
I will try this out.

72 weeks is 1.3 years
not 12 months, it’ll be 15.7 months
assuming your chickens start producing at week 20, you still have 52 weeks left, a year.

You had 500, why do 510 - 20??
I think it was a mistake has I can't put my head around it
I think it just that whenever you buy young chics they give you some extra chics. I have ever bought them too. I bought 200 chicks but received 210.
