    I have the mp50, fired hundreds of rounds through it with no issues. Currently use the sling around the neck to steady it. It’s a laser for what it is. No malfunctions other than the charging handle leaving on its own. Still never cleaned. The brass does flat at the end and I’m not sure why. But I don’t reload so not terribly upset about it. Planning on getting the ati stock and sbr’n it. Doubles the cost of the gun, but it really is a great gun to shoot. A piece of history. And honestly, 1k for the setup vs 1k for a typical ar? The mp40 is just more engaging and fun at the range. Also easier to use than my auto ordinance Thompson. Thinking about the pps 43 next

    I did the same with mine (getting the stamp) and it to my surprise has had great luck with 124 gr bulk ammo. Honestly for like 800 bucks total I'm happy with it up there with my CZ scorpion for fun/reliable pcc.

      Did you use a ATI stock for yours or an alternative?

      I found a new Old stock ATI stock and admittedly paid 275 dollars for it after shipping because it had to come fro m oversees.@@GarandGuy2553

    thanks for doing this. I've been offered a Wilson tubed Mp-40 in exchange for my SWD M-11 setup. I want to do it but its hard to escape the versatility of the m11 MAC series. Maybe this will scratch the itch of an MP-40. I once had access to a transferable one but I couldn't afford the price when I was in college.

    • @GarandGuy2553

      Yeah, prices will only get higher! I doubt I’d ever be able to afford a real MP-40 but I do hope a higher quality reproduction becomes available in the future.

    When Americans laugh at Canadian gun laws -- deservedly so, admittedly -- I point them to the laws regarding SBRs :-)
    That said, congrats on getting it all done!

      @@GarandGuy2553 They're classed as "Restricted" firearms. You need an extra course and enhanced licence, there are storage and transportation requirements. It's all BS.

      True......
      Here you can end up paying to make your firearm longer so it can be more concealable......

    Yes, I noticed the stock moving upward as you were firing it. I would think the original stock had a detent of some type to keep it in place. Possibly the stock could be modified to make it work better even if it's meant for an airsoft version of this iconic firearm.Unfortunately, I don't live in an NFA friendly state.

    • @GarandGuy2553

    There are ATI ones on Armslist usually. Maybe you can modify the airsoft one to keep it from moving under fire?

    I’m thinking about adding the stock to my GSG MP 40, when I bought it 6 months ago, nobody had one in stock to purchase so I was placed on a notification list but I never heard back. My state is friendly, I live in Georgia. I wasn’t sure what the process is to get the stamp. It sure makes the gun look awesome. Does it help to have a carry license or if you’re a law enforcement officer? Just curious if that is on the application. It’s ridiculous that we have to go through all of that and the fees, to actually make our guns less concealable. Would you do it all over again?

    • @GarandGuy2553
      @GarandGuy2553  6 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, I’d do it again. The application is the same for everyone regardless if you have CCW or are a law enforcement officer.

    Have my paperwork off to the ATF now. I did my pps43c as soon as I got the stamp back much better ergonomics and way cooler. 42 days there and back with paper form 1.

    • @GarandGuy2553
      @GarandGuy2553  9 місяців тому

      That’s not bad! I think they’re down to 20-30 days on average now for a form 1.

    I have been thinking about this semi auto pistol. Two weeks ago I shot a full auto Wilson tube gun. I thought it was amazing. From the videos of the semi, it looks like the full auto has less recoil. I thought it was more fun than a select fire MP-5. The cyclic rate was so slow. I found the stock uncomfortable and unnecessary. I shot most of the rounds with the stock folded. I also found the sights were not needed in full auto with my target 40 yds away. The recoil was so mild you could walk your rounds in. I can't afford the MG so I thinking about the semi.

    • @GarandGuy2553

    (allegedly) Every gun you do a 4473 on is already in an illegally-kept database by the ATF so adding a Form 1 to it isn't really much of a worry. That thing looks really cool with the stock, I thought GSG only made them in .22 for some reason.
    I did a Form 1 on an Extar Ep9 (pre-brace drama...had to pay) and was surprised it only took 2 weeks. My suppressor took over a year.

    Where did you put your engraving on the MP40 after turning it into an SBR?

    • @GarandGuy2553
      @GarandGuy2553  9 місяців тому

      You don’t need to engrave anything as an individual on a factory built firearm. That’s only a requirement if you’re manufacturing a new firearm.

  • @brucewillis1236
    @brucewillis1236 6 місяців тому

    Also, a final comment. Much as we might want it to be so, the mp40 was mostly shot with the stock extended. You mentioned ergonomic problem is true. The weapon was made with a folding stock so as to be more portable especially in the confined space of getting in and of vehicles. We've been so conditioned by so many movies of heroic troops charging in to the melee with
    the mp40 being shot from the hip, mowing down the enemy. It looks so damn heroic and alpha male that it caught on immediately. Try it. You will have trouble hitting what you aim at to put it mildly. If msg and pistols didn't need stocks there wouldn't be the present controversy with bump stocks, arm braces, ect. Also charging heroically into enemy fire did happen some in WWII.
    But my dad was in the infantry in Northern Italy during WWII and the most followed idea was "Keep your head down you stupid son of a bitch or you're going to get killed" He went through the war against up to and including fanatical SS units in a crouch or prone position.

    Every. Single. Gun purchase is on a database. So.

    • @GarandGuy2553
      @GarandGuy2553  9 місяців тому +1

      It’s a nuanced topic but that statement isn’t exactly true for non-NFA long arms and pistols. NFA items, however, do live in an ATF database. There are also millions of firearms that are transferred privately every year that don’t go into a database.
