  • It's not very often I get excited about the BEV's on the market but this is one of them. It's strange because Nissan really haven't released all that many models over the last few years and nothing as fresh as the new Ariya.

Test drove the Ariya....as a former leaf owner I wasn't expecting much but the car is superb, well built and a beautiful drive. The software is a bit odd but the biggest problem is the price...€57500 for a 58kwh battery and north of €70k for the 87kwh version...come on Nissan Ireland, take a look at Tesla, Hyundai pricing, the Ariya has been priced out of the market, unfortunately!

70k for a car😢 I won’t be changing from my lovely Peugeot 3008 Diesel for a long time so. How could anyone afford that. Small mortgage ☠️

    • @BobFlavinVideo
      @BobFlavinVideo  Рік тому +1

It's a mad price, with plenty of spec in it but you could spend 60k on a wet-fuel car and get loads!

They have dropped the price quite a bit lately so it's becoming a tad more affordable. Never going to get a Tesla due to Elon being an annoying bugger so Ariya is on the top now along with Huyndai Ionic 5 if I decide to buy.

I'm a new owner of an Ariya. So far the Ariya meets all my expectations as a first time EV owner. All EV-related performance metric is at or better than competitors' level. Range of over 280 miles per full charge, quieter and smoother ride than other EVs that I have sat in, the safety technology with ProPilot 2.0 is better than most other offerings and equivalent to what is on the Mustang Mach-E or Tesla Model Y. What is missing from the Ariya is the "fun" department. The enfotainment system is intuitive and very functional, but it doesn't let you stream movies, or make weird noises when accelerate or decelerate, or the ambient lighting doesn't change color or flash to the music...etc. Overall, it is a very solid practical vehicle. But for the buyers who are looking for EV as a highly customizable electronic device, it isn't that.

€5k too expensive. It's head to head with Model Y without a supercharger network. Great review.

Sorry to hear your daughter is unwell, hope everything gets sorted. Great Video Bob, Looks cold, or is the Scarf new Merch?
Love Ariya couldn't wait for it to come out, however the original price at concept soon disappeared over the horizon.
Nissan took their eye off the ball, as they led with LEAF, then nothing really. That Ariya looks great.
p.s. I have sent you an email about College New Training Centre.

One thing we don’t seem to get here on irish spec Ariya's(unless it appears on the eForce model) is the little flat top pyramid sensor atop the steering column that you see in the American reviews and I believe that monitors your eye movements, this element seems to be a pre-requisite for the second of the two stage capable Pro pilot were the perimeter dash/door light goes a blue colour, this mode allows you to remove your hands from the wheel for prolonged periods, so we don’t appear to get the full fat version of Pro-Pilot here. At no point have I seen the LED bead of light that goes along the upper door edge & dashboard turn green never mind blue, its always white, you can just change the brightness and it doesn’t make its way back to the rear passenger doors which is pretty poor I thought. Another area that has me miffed is why the 22kWh charging capability is listed as an option(for a thousand euro extra) the reason being, there's a wealth of ESB chargers with three phase 22VAC capability, having this built in would make the Ariya a much more favourable proposition compared to the competition. I don't think you would be left short on capability between the American and Irish versions of the Ioniq and EV6 except on pricing of course.

for me the mistake they made was with the hvac controls, they should have used the same part as the Qashqai and new X-trail, I like the fact that it has an opening sunroof, but its weakness for me on test was its suspension, and really should have variable magnetic or air suspension as it has that bobbling feeling on uneven roads, maybe partsharing with Stellantis with its camera suspension from the DS4 would work great, the thing that should change however in the options list is allowing the adaptive headlight (matrix to you and me) available as an option on lower trims than only being on the top frontwheel and 4x4 trims only, the standard light is ok but the matrix is fantastic. come on nissan

Thanks. That sloping back window will limit what you can carry in the boot. Software looks dire, as you said. I use one of those camera mirrors on a Transit where a traditional mirror would not be an option and you get used to it. No mention of value for money / price for this Nissan?

That car Bob is driving in the video, I would guess, is tipping into the €70k region. I personally believe the Irish motor journalists are not doing enough to highlight the bonkers level of pricing in the Irish car industry.
These prices......€60k.....€70k.......€80k just roll off their tongues like water off a ducks back!!!!!
There is going to be a Auto Finance bubble problem in the not to distant future.

It must be a hard sell when the entry level Model Y is now 47k. Me and my wife don't like the exterior and interior of the Model Y, but it's like if Apple started undercutting everybody on price. Everyone else must follow Tesla...

Price…?? Pricing appears to be a secret…Nissan Irelands website is the worst seen….still advertising “register your interest” in a car that is out some 18months. The Nissan UK site provides the details.

Crazy Price if I got one for nothing I would sell it, you would get a beautiful S Class Merc for that amount of money, Battery cars will never take over from Diesel, anyone buying one is doing the wrong thing, and anyway if we all had one there would be not enough of power to charge them, my Merc does 1200 KM to a fill of Diesel and has ad blue so all that's coming out of the exhaust is vapor totally harmless to our planet.......I have put several comments on in the past and Bob never gave his opinion......

We did a test drive around urban roads in Leeds. Lovely interior and exterior. I agree the infotainment graphics look a bit dated and not very sophisticated. I found the ride comfort questionable at low speeds around town. ID4, Ioniq5 are softer. Interestingly I found the latest Model Y more settled. Its storage is much better too. We opted for the Tesla.

  • @alunhoskins4513

Undoubtedly a good car but....what a ridiculous price. The manufacturers continue to take the p'.
Such a shame too that it looks so damned ugly on the road, there's a few where I live, so it's selling.
It's going to look very big and bloated fairly soon I think. Then again, it's "in the eye of the beholder" and all that. This does look like it would make an excellent van though, which is not remotely the intention I realise. (You could deliver an awful lot of bread in one.)
