I finished the game this way,I really wanted for the protagonist to have a good ending so I ignored every other aspect of what was inside that building(also,I didn't knew there was another ending).I felt so content after he put himself to sleep,he reminded me of myself somhow.Always when I have a really hard day,I arrive, greet my dog and I just go and put myself to sleep in the midle of the afternoon. Also,my sleeping position is exactly that, fetal and away from the window. I unistalled the game knowing that this was the ending. Boy,what a surprise it was for me to find out the real ending 4 months later....I felt deep sorrow for the protagonist, what a way to go.
This ending means only one thing, he succumbed into the darkness and fell asleep with those with him, and in the end him sleeping symbolizes that he died without knowing the true reason he was there nor the reason the darkwood ever had this problem
@@Mezha07 To be honest, being the protagonist I would choose the sleep, I do not want to go by burning, I would like to just lie to myself and forever go to sleep.Nothing to lose or gain.
To those who couldn't read the small text this is what I could transcribe, based on reading it: "The missing son of Elephants moved into the mushroom infected hut. The old lady who owned the place finally remembered her previous incarnation, when observing the boy playing in the corner of the room. For a short moment she even felt like a human being. When the boy put down his charcoal and paper to sit on her knees. The inhabitant of the hut at the junkyard spent a long time on its roof basking in the sun. But the voices coming from the inside did not give him peace. So he crawled downed the roof, and since his limbs went numb from lying on the hard tiles. He stumbled and feel face first into the mud. In the pool he saw his reflection- a huge head of a snail. He then thought that he never had such a strange dream before he wished to wake up."
@@jeff10knightfox59 do we really know where reality ended and the dream began though? We know some of what happened (including much if not all of what's in this video) was false, but I don't think we really know for sure how much more than that.
Yeah, I agree, but this game's creators seem cynical. Every good action we take in the name of good people only helps them die. And, in the true ending, the game wants us to be an a-hole. There is no option to help the sleepers before burning the tree, or to take the flame thrower without harming Maciek. I mean if you want to help a being who is absorbing humans alive, dude, then you can die with it, but I am sure not every sleeper in there was ok with been absorbed. Besides, why didn't we find an escape route before burning the entity? The game forces us to sacrifice ourselves.
@@smockytubers1188 My guess is the moment the epilogue starts, it is all a dream. We got too close to the being, and it puts us to sleep. We know what happened before is not a dream because the game tells us what happened to the characters we met during the game. Another possibility is that we were dreaming about a time when we were awake before reaching the being. So the entire game is a dream about facts that happened, except the last part when we awoke naked.
Michal Kudlacek get it on a big monitor or television (and then get close to the TV so you can actually read it. I gave up on my cell phone XD if I paused and read the microscopic text I would have done it but I didn't want to go through the trouble. I'll just play it. But I'm not past chapter 1)
LEGO Петербургский_Аниматор Disagreed. The game has both true and false endings. The false ending, as it shows us the delusion the protagonist is pulled into, so-called false reality, and the true ending, as it demonstrates the true state of affairs. Still, obviously, it has no a good ending for the protagonist.
Yep the fungi entity tricked you into a deep slumber till you die. You arent in an apartment, you are on top of a great tree where it resides. See the true ending
A lot of people are saying that this is the "false version", but I saw the "real version first" and you can see the tree roots very clearly. In this one, there aren't any. Look for yourself! So what does that mean I wonder?
You have to discover that something is wrong. If you've discovered the hints, you get to choose ending. If you haven't discovered the hints, you don't even know you have a choice.

@@Mezha07 there's also a true ending which you burned down the forest entirely

I'll be uploading the True Ending soon.
tbh this looks like a good ending to me other than that *Insert True Ending Spoilers Here* stuff.
Yeah but sad thing is the true ending at the end is it’s all a Dream and u gotta burn them all, especially the road.......was leading to the heart

You are sleeping at the *heart of the woods*
I knew it was the bad ending cause of the root connecting you with the forest.
