I’ve tailored men’s suits and loved seeing the precision tailoring at Tom Ford. Those suits are sublime.
I love how passionate you are about Bond. I work in custom, made-to-measure menswear and have a few observations:
1. Love the key details of the fabric, and signature Tom Ford details: Glen Plaid/PoW pattern, Milanese buttonhole, the O
Connor fit.
2. Your jacket doesn't fit you in the chest. Tom Ford pieces are fully canvassed, it will take care of your prominent chest. The lapel is still popping, this needs a press and stretch or letting out of the chest from the centre seam.
3. Roped shoulders are great, the signature of the Tom Ford fit. However your shoulders are sloped, I would recommend the tailor press the shoulder, or slim out the padding a little bit.
4. You seem to have a lot of room on your jacket sleeves. They needn't be tight, but the excess fabric is excess fabric, it still doesn't fall straight when your arms are down. There's drooping, and your arms are backward, so that's a sleeve-pitch issue too.
5. You like a suppressed waist, which is a personal taste, and that's great :) At the same time, I personally would not recommend it to this extent for you, as your chest to waist drop (ratio wise) is immense. You want to accentuate waist shape, but when your drop is is that big, I wouldn't recommend it be that much suppression. Let that out a smidge.
6. Your jacket is a tad too long. I would recommend it end between the first and second knuckle of your thumb.
7. Take in the seat of your jacket a little bit for a better drape on the single vent. A great, unique, action detail though as you said ;)
8. Be sure to not have the tie pin pull against the tie so much, it'll ruin the fabric! Great accessories though! :)
8. Yes, you have a slimmer lower body, and this is a good thing you've noticed. Your trousers fit you in the thigh and seat perfectly. That tailor is fantastic. However, from the calf down, I would recommend still tapering that up by around 0.5'-0.75'. As your trousers are cuffed, a break that large is a little excessive. I would personally say they reach the first shoelace.
I'm quite obsessive and passionate in a different way, so these are some observations and thoughts I thought I'd share with you. This is an awesome video, and I'm super excited to see the film, and your videos relating to the film!
Watched you for a long time, and I'm a huge fan of your content. Best of luck!
This is fantastic....thank you!
Sougata,
I love your level of explanation and thoroughness did you learn custom men's Wear from reading or from job experience?
Chandler Crawford job experience
Made to measure and not bespoke? Nah
Sougata Mitra great eye!
He was my tailor when I got my suit tailored. He was very friendly, the saleswomen however had an attitude.
That's women for you
It must feel incredible to wear (and to be seen wearing) such a fine suit! Talk about a confidence boost!
It's pretty heady!
This really makes me want to own a Tom Ford suit, haha.
Very expensive
Best episode so far. I have had only rack and last years full bespoke suits and never really understood the made to measure process but you have perfectly shown it in Tom Ford case. Thank you, keep up the good Bond work!
Great to see people with passion for a hobby or interest. Really enjoyed this and thanks for taking us on your jorney!
Younger man from Australia
To say that I aspire to wear and pull off a suit of this calibre and look good is an understatement
Fantastic video
Quality content
Two thumbs up 👍👍
Thanks so much!
Even Teaching Mens Fashion or whatever his channel is called wasn’t able to get permission to film at a TF store. He has millions of subs. You must be really special to the TF brand!
Suit looks amazing as does the outfit. Thank you for sharing David, if you are fortunate enough to be able to buy and get this fitted you should.
Thank you!
I love the premise of this channel. I’m so glad it came up on my recommended list. Keep it up!
I bought Tom Ford Snowden glasses and I think they’ll be perfect with this suit!
Try then as well next you wear the suit again.
Amazing video! Perfect for a James Bond fanatic like me
Amazing vid my friend. You are a natural storyteller.
I remember seeing Live And Let Die with my dad when I was 7, and being blown away by the Rolex 5513 with the bullet deviating magnet and the high speed circular saw. 21 years later, when I received my medical degree I purchased a Rolex Sub from the year Live and Let Die was released. That watch, my first real watch, will go to my firstborn when he turns 21. Amazing how 007 has touched and influenced us.
I'm a doctor and huge James Bond fan too. My son is only 9 months, but he already has dibs on my Breitling Navitimer and Breitling Top Time. Best wishes :)
Bertram Prosser awesome. My eldest is nine, never too early to plan.
It's all hideous marketing 😂😂😂 you bought it because you think it was your taste. If the movie displays a strapped cabbage around his wrist you would have chosen that instead 😅
I just found your channel and am enjoying your videos. I must say that the Tom Ford experience is something every man should try to have for himself. I have been to the stores here in Los Angeles and also Las Vegas, and it's nothing short of amazing. They really do treat you like royalty there, and their garments are above and beyond competitors like Armani and Zegna (in my opinion). This was a great video, and your silhouette could easily pass for Daniel Craig as 007. Keep up the great work !
I love that suit! Thanks for sharing the experience. I've gotten to love a tie bar, satisfies my Mad Men, Magic City crush
You are my Bond goto. I sprung for an O’Conner. Transcendental fit. And agree the fitting was a chill, non-pretentious vibe.
Love the enthusiasm. Thanks for the video! I've got a couple O'Connor jackets and they are a beautiful cut. Great masculine look. Would say the one negative is that all that shape comes at the expense of a bit of freedom of movement. That said, great suits.
Fantastic video as always. Such enthusiasm, I was excited for you while watching this. 👍🏻
I found the tailoring more fascinating then the suit. Very informative. I have had jacket arms shortened, waists taken in on jeans, chinos etc, and find the process fascinating. You look amazing in the suit. Thanks for sharing
Love the suit. Prince of Wales check is always a fantastic choice. From what I can gather Bond wears a linen suit in the new movie. I can see bracers coming back into style. Bond wears them in some scenes. I subscribed recently as your channel is one of the best out there. Well done David. Nice to see such knowledge and great presentation. Merry Christmas from England.
Very kind of you to say....and a Merry Christmas to you as well!
Dan Craig used to work behind the bar of my local pub in West London in the 1980s,he was a nice guy.
That shows a lot of passion, and the suit and all the details are amazing. Probably is the most close Im going to be to a Bond Tom Ford suit. Increible suit. No money is enough for the pleasure and enthusiasm you got with all the experience and tailoring. That is class. Dont gain not a pound or you will waste the perfect fit fot the Bond 25 suit. Congratulations
Thanks so much!
This is truly inspirational stuff David. Just checking in to say I've watched it once with my Brother who is now a fan (even though he is a car guy and not a clothes guy). This is a huge investment and I'm really pleased for you. Getting the same bolt of fabric is a true exclusive. Will enjoy giving it a few more watches on my travels. Pb
Thanks so much, Pete! Have fun!
Thank you for sharing this video.Your suit looks very stunning; and I can see that Tom Ford tailors are very professional! Enjoy your Bond 25 suit!!!
Seeing you so hyped and happy makes me happy. Congrats on your purchase. Great video Dave.
Great video sir! 👏🏽
Beautiful suit and the Prince Of Wales pattern is so so nice! I prefer the lapels broader, the thin lapels are a bit too trendy for me.
You could tell you felt like the king of the world when you were getting that fitted.
Very nice suit and one that can be worn for years to come.
i am so happy to see your videos because i have learnt dressing styles from daniel bond and you helped me lot about movie dress style and fabrics shoes etc and i am die hard fan of craig
What an amazing vlog, David! And what an amzing suit!
It was as much fun making the vlog as it was getting the suit! :)
If this is your ‘last suit’, then you’ve gone out in style. I think it’ll be obvious on the final fine tune that it’s your best fit to date. Congratulations on it and thanks for sharing the experience. And you might have to bundle your next few birthdays and christmases together to make sure you get that watch. You need the watch. All the best, S.
Ah.....the watch..... :)
Cool suit and what a great video! I felt that I was the one getting fitted. Thank you!
I really love your passion. Like you, I am passionate about cars, so of course my favorite part was you getting out of the DB9 :) . nicely done video. And, yes, that suit REALLY looks good !
My Lady was ,,upset, when I ordered 6 James Bond made to measure suits online. I suspect I would be sleeping in the car if I ordered a Tom Ford! Looks great! Hope you got your Lady a Very nice sparkly for being awesome and supporting. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
After so many years of this, she is either used to it or just super cool about it....I am choosing super cool! ;)
Would be amazing to be a fly on the wall at the discussions between Craig and Ford to see what inspires them for these designs
I agree!
Your passion is so inspirational, David.
Bravo! Great vlog! Congratulations - You look the part! Happy Holidays!
Amazing video David! These type of videos will hold me over until the movie. Keep up the good bond work.
I remember someone telling me that I should get a single vent on the of the jacket is only if I plan on riding horses, and he laughed. but it does look good.
Wow, thank you, love your videos , the suit looks amazing!!
Thanks for sharing! Love the video. What did you have to do for them to send you a suit in the first place? Do they measure you at a store then manufacture the suit and mail it to you for the final fitting? If I would like a bond style black tux as in quantum of solace, any recommendations for a similar tux that is not as expensive? The Tom Ford tux shows up as $6000 online...hoping for something in the $500-$1500 range maybe?
David this looks spectacular. Seeing as I won't be able to purchase a Tom Ford suit anytime soon, I wanted to get your opinion on a tailor in the Newtown area whom you trust. Keep up the great work and fantastic content.
You can come to Italy and get one of this suit, made in Italy, more cheaper (of course without "Tom Ford brand"). Anyway, for me James Bond's suits are from Savile Row!
Beautiful suit David. Great video.
Fascinating video David, and at 15:27 you really look like Daniel Craig! I'll never be able to afford such a suit so it's really amazing to follow you through this review and experience the whole process :)
I like this suit but the Connery tux from diamonds are forever is my favourite.
Good choice!
Connory wore bespoke suits.
This Tom Ford suit is a made to meassure suit. Huge difference !
@@nokiafuck I think Tom Ford has taken some of the best of bespoke creations to their made to measure program. A well fitted suit is always going to look great, and if you look at the fitting David did the jacket fit through the chest and back really well. There are differences, yes, but not as many as their used to be.
Thanks for sharing. You went out of your way to get that suit. Tom Ford is also one of my top designers, however, I mostly wear Kiton, Isaia and sporadically Brioni. I don't even know who designed prior Bond suits. Wasn't it Brioni?
The suit looks absolutely phenomenal!
Great Video! Always Love your Passion & Content.💯👔🙏🏼
Great video, fantastic suit and good to see the process. Was it just me or was the tailor wearing the Skyfall Istanbul cuff links also. Thanks David
What sharp little eyes you have! Yes, he was!
Amazing, just amazing.
Amazing suit and video. Only difference I’d have done in the tailoring is slimmed the pants a bit more to fit the slim fit of the jacket. Otherwise perfection!
Fits beautifully thanks for the review! How do I get my hands on this specific suit?
Hi David, great video as usual! How is the fit compared to the Spectre suits? Are the lapels thinner? How long are the pants cuff in this one? I have the Mexico suit and would love add it to my collection ;)
Crystal from TF NYC can help you, but the lapels are slightly thinned...I find the fit to be more 'forgiving' than the Mexico one BUT that may have to do with how I sized and the tailoring.
Great Video, love the details.
suit is much better cut than the spectre super-tight approach... YAY!
oops, a little editing mistake there at the end ;)
Ah! Thanks for the heads up...fixing now.
This suit looks amazing!!
The tailor did a perfect fitting David.
From Armani to Tom Ford....I let that sink in for a while.
He is a "Master Tailor".
All designers are nothing with out their tailors needless to say.
Stay close to him David!
Ha!
That's a beautiful stunning suit and fit-
Congrats!
If you look at all the wrinkels below his right shoulder from the back it is clear that this tailor is everything but a master.
@@nokiafuck ....actually I did not catch that...I was on my first cup of coffee, ha!
Ironically David did not either, it has to be David's shoulder, likely a constant issue in his fittings.
I believe easily taken care of with opening the shoulder seam and inserting shoulder padding.
Lots of guys have that issue.
What do you think-
Have a great Christmas-
@@G0K3001 Initially I also thought that he has a sloped shoulder that causes this, but then I noticed that if you look at the suit jacket from the front and pay attention to the low end on each side (32:20), the right side of the suit jacket (from our point of view) is longer than the left side. Or in other words, on the low end of the right side of the suit jacket hangs lower than the left side.
This can't be caused by his right shoulder hanging lower than the left because if that were the case the opposite side of the suit jacket had to hang lower.
I then checked another video of him wearing a suit to confirm this to myself and there you can see the exact same thing (one side of the suit jacket hanging lower than the other one): ua-cam.com/video/d8s6DH5v7V4/v-deo.html
After thinking about it I came to the conclusion that his left leg must be shorter than his right leg. (from his point of view)
Just put on a suit and wear one shoe on your right foot and no shoe on your left foot in order to simulate your left leg being shorter than the other. If you look into the mirror you get the exact same result that is visible in this video (wrinkles below the right shoulder from the back and one side of the suit jacket being longer than the other) because your body tries to correct this by bending to one side.
The solution is either to get a bespoke suit (made to meassure suits can't correct that issue completely) or even better to get orthopedic insoles that elongate one leg so that both legs have the same length.
Then your posture automatically corrects itself and the wrinkels as well as the difference in length of the sit jacket in the front will disappear.
@@nokiafuck Hello, your reply could very well be the case.
Different leg lengths is a common issue and could be increased by his physicalness.
David is pretty physical be it tread mill , or running outside.
His terrain around his home I believe is not too flat.
If he has foot pronation, its generally on the shorter leg, it can increase creating the one sided slant in his posture.
Thus the sagging shoulder fit,
the suit can still be "saved" I feel.
Possibly up to two refittings.
Again good observation and analysis, hopefully he will see these comments.
@@nokiafuck those wrinkles are a necessity if you want to move your arms a perfectly clean back just doesn't allow for any real movement just look at bespoke you will see the same.
Great suit,
Great video
Thanks so much.
Hey David: What's the shoulder seam to shoulder seam measurement of that Tom Ford suit? Thanks.
Great experience, congratulations!!
What is the exact song that is used in the intro? People are gonna tell me it's the "James Bond Theme" but it sounds different than every James bond theme I've heard. I can't find it anywhere
what an entertaining channel
some additional detail/ info for you, since the suits are made by Zegna, the C on the label doesn't stand for custom but for "short" / corto regarding the base master garment used for made to measure products
what made you start this channel ?
cheers
Think it looks stunning, plus, I enjoy learning about suits. I think any man can look great in a suit. Just has to fit right.
David what knot do you use for the tab collar?
This suit is look amazing 👌 really like the fitting.
Great video.
One question, the suit is a 3 button, which I'm a big fan of but have switched over to the 2 button style.
Why wouldn't you have the suit make in the 2 button style?
Just a slight observation that with the lapel rolling over the top button and hole you see the dark threads of the button hole exposed.
A really well cut suit should hang right even if it had just the one button (such as the Huntsman house style) but know what you mean about the 2 button
IMHO the best Bond suit is worn by Lazenby when he burgles Gumbold's safe.Slim fitting but not tight.Very Savile Row.Very stylish.
Great video as always David, Do we know who made the tie bar yet ?
Nice video! Great suit.
Interesting they gave you a 50 C which means is a 50 short. May I ask do you own any other TF suits. The O'connor cut has always been challenging for me personally and I actually spoke to the VP of menswear at TF and he confessed the cut is "difficult" and they tweaked so much of it during the yrs. It seems the cut is still very narrow on the shoulders and chest, so hence you have to up size but at the same time getting a shorter cut
I tried to buy short size Tom Ford suit(48C or 50C) in Korea but they do not sell C size in here and very difficult to find in Europe. If I go to US, have to visit Tom Ford shop 😊
Please could you tell me what shoes you are wearing during the fitting, they look amazing. Thanks
You deserve a interview with Daniel Craig
This dude is real in to bond.
Very cool video. And the suit suits you very well 👍
what jacket and shoes are you wearing walking into the TF store??
Any additional details on the “correct” tie, and the shirt? Can you get these directly from a boutique now?
And the tie bar!
Very nice, just add the walther pp compartment and its ready for action.
What cool story! Will you actually wear that suit to work?
But, David! You clasped the tie clip to the shirt at 31:43! So technically you did it better than Daniel did! ;-)
LOL......!
Hi, is the tie a navy colour or a dark grey? Can you describe it?
So cool to see to see Daniel Craig dressed as Bond on location
Love your passion sir.
Absolutely love Tom Ford suits.
hilarious intro, well done
Merry Christmas David
This is awesome. Love thos suit
Many thanks!
Now this is how you do reviews!
I WANT ONE!!!
Very nice. Do you think the actors that play Bond get to keep their clothing?
Happy Christmas David .
love the watch
what is that shirt you wear in the beginning of the video?
I want to buy the exact plaid that you have there! Can you tell me the name of that exact plaid design? Thank you!
What’s the o’connor you’re referring too? Do you mean Connery??
Hi David, I think you should use microphones and better cameras/filming. Some of the recording was plain claustrophobic and some backgrounds were too bright. And yes some (a lot of) editing will be helpful to keep the videos short and nice.
Craig not Creg. As you Americans pronounce it. Please don't take any offence. Great in depth video, just wish I could have my clothes tailored like that. Not forgetting the dosh to afford it! Cheers.
Unboxing, let's do it!!
I saw Daniel look right at you. He realized there was a new sheriff in town.
It's a beautiful suit and You're awesome.
