What a TERRIBLE Decision..

- OK Guys, it's time to take a look at game 2 of the NHL's western conference finals between the Edmonton Oilers... and the Dallas Stars! The Stars won this game by a score of 3-1.. However.. it was a very even matchup in my opinion. Jake Oettinger stood on his head throughout the first period.. But late in the game.. The Oilers made a crucial mistake when they pulled Stuart Skinner.. Let's break this one down!
The articles that were in the video were screenshots from Habsfanatics.com, I highly reccommend you to check out this site for further Habs News,

And ofcourse, thanks for watching!
As the ESPN announcers mentioned, it looked like Skinner was the only one who knew that the Oilers net was empty. It was almost like he decided to head for the bench on his own, and unfortunately so did the skaters.
did they have a different angle on ESPN? because now I really wanna watch it from Skinner's point of view haha!
@@HockeyJunkie They did show a wide angle shot and NOBODY on the bench was waving Skinner in (or even looking in that direction). Definitely one of the stranger things I have seen in these playoffs. Great videos HJ, I am a Rangers fan but I even enjoy your Habs content!
Thank you!
@@HockeyJunkiethere’s a different angle where you can also see Bouchard not standing in the lane of the net because he probobly thought skinner was there.
You never know from period to period if your getting good Oilers or Shit Oilers….
An open net line change has GOT to be the stupidest call in the history of the NHL!
Well, they were losing, they had to try something
The oilers are not that bright..
Cody C squared is such an underrated joke i love it
Never thought I'd hear a hockey summarization narrated by The Lucky Charms elf.
Holy buddy, you may need to get out more. You may be the first and only person to ever mistake a newfy accent for an Irish one.
everyones out for me lucky charms..
@@bradgavel9991 absolutely is not the first nor will he be the last lmfao. newfie accent is heavily influenced by irish immigrants
@@bradgavel9991 He's definitely not the first one. Bro even says his "Th" like irish people do. Admittedly, it was a turd period for the Oilers.
@@SwiftLilEagle I guess hearing it so much over my life has given me an ear for it. Pretty sure most of us martimers come from Irish and Scottish descendants. But I can still tell a newfy from an Irishman pretty easily.
Cody C square LOLLL !!
I thought they pulled the goalie too soon without proper puck control, but looking at your video it seems they just jumped ship. Good eyes B'ye
Oilers coach looks like he just pulled out of a carwash
If only Montgomery would've known Junkie would use him in every video from now on.
hahaha
He'd be asking for royalties 😂😂
Oh shit, now I see it. I thought that was Claude Julian lol
@@MachoManAndySavage125 it's Claude in the opening MGM lion credits, Monty on the bench later
@@crimsonking70 ok, I thought that was Claude but then got confused thinking I was wrong.
What's worse, the early pull or the timely line change.
The fact that they didn't have control is what made it bad. Then changing made it worse.
Kane. He can always be relied on . . . to score the fifth goal when they’re up 4-1.
And blow all his money on the slots
I remember watching a Blues game like that where Reaves actually scored. I get it, you scored, but same meaningless scenario. His celebration was worthy of a game 7 OT Final.
Had Cody C Squared. Took a second to register. You're a genius and a comic master
When we look back... this was the moment the soilers soiled the bed.
I wasn't confused about pulling the goalie with almost 2 minutes left, I was confused about how lazy the Oilers were. They deserve to lose that one.
I disagree. They deserved another goal or two through the first 2 periods and shouldn't have been in the position to pull the goalie in the first place. But yea the timing was terrible
Otter is a beast stars look deadly rn
Unrelated but it's nice Skinner is playing as well as he is this serious. I had a feeling the poor guy was going to get buried.
I thought so too but the series is still young. At least he has a team up front playing at a higher level than I thought they would be. Edmonton overall has played like the better team but I wonder if Dallas figured something out in the after the 1st period in game 2 because the 16-4 tilt changed quite a bit and the Stars are the best road team in the NHL and one of the best at making adjustments.
By the look on the Oiler faces I don’t think any of them knew the goalie had been pulled.
Quite possibly the worst coaching decision I have ever seen to pull Skinner with zero offensive zone control. It's so stupid that I wonder if Skinner made the decision, since even the players were going for a line change. Like, wtf? Did the coach call for a line change AND pull the goalie at the same time? I can't wrap my head around this.
The whole game they were struggling to keep the puck in the offensive zone, wild they thought they had a chance in pulling the goalie there
if you think coach is calling for line changes, you are watching some other sport man... players are responsible to do line changes, coaches are not telling them now lets go change :D
It's right up there with the stupid decision to put Matthews and Samsonov back in for game 7 when they
SHOULD have stayed with Woll and kept Matthews benched. That stupid move cost Toronto the series.
@@mtlnascarfan woll got injured with 0.2 seconds left trying to make a save game before they had to use samsonov
@@F2PMationeEach line is sitting in order of shifts so they know when to line change
Pulled Stu to soon
When
you get total control in their end then pull him
2 mins maybe if down 2 goals
That was a coaching error. Did he consult Paul Coffey
I dont know who to blame for that mess... so I will just blame the entire city of Edmonton... Alberta is partly to blame... the rest of Canada is off the hook... for now.
Deserve? You don't get what you deserve in hockey, you get what you earn. With their talent, they should have done much better. That lack of effort with the goalie pulled said it all.
The pull wasn't the problem - totally reasonable with 2 minutes to go and down a goal. The line change, on the other hand, 🤦🏻♂️.
Yeah this pissed me off 😂
The Stars are headed to their comfort zone, an away game. They were the best NHL road team this season and won 5 of 6 on the road in the playoffs against two great teams in Vegas and Colorado. Let’s Go Stars.
I thought the same thing. They didn't even get control of the puck and the goalie was already at the bench. Not that they would have scored, but at least give it a chance. That was the worse goalie pull that I have ever seen and it was done in the playoffs when it actually matters.
Bubbles trying to get his rig license again
Bouchard obviously didn't even know the goalie was pulled, he just let the puck pass him by without attempting to stop it.
With how Bouchard is defensively, I still have doubt that he didn't know 🤠
No control of the puck. Their topline wasn't on the ice.. He should have waited to have top line on and control of puck before pulling the goalie.
Something that is being over looked. The Stars have not even played to there total potential. They have not attacked 100% yet. Game 2 was about 50% of there total energy and play. Ty smiley I like that one. I think his smile will continue just say n
Pull the goalie to gaurantee the loss because its all rigged.
The goalie should never leave the net until the possession is stable, and that possession was definitely not stable
And that line change? Terrible
Subscribed for the hockey knowledge and the awesome Irish accent ❤
Such a creative way to fix a game 🙄
Smells like game was fixed.🤧
what game did you watch, edmonton controlled the play for the first period. in fact they looked real good, and then they went on vacation after that. edmonton sucks they are really a 2 person team.
What video did you watch , that’s exactly what I said in the video , almost word for word lol
Besides the “sucks” part haha
Lord tundering Jesus b'y!!
Skinner just ran for it. Knobby did not wave him over. Skinner shit the bed again.
Lindell got a really nice ENG from basically the goal line last series, he's sneaky accurate.
Esa "Simo Häyhä" Lindell
its not like both teams didn't have many opportunities, but front row seats for 3 oilers was so typical of them ...come on oilers get your shit together.
They pulled their goalie waaaaaay too early.
A sad, sad way to lose after such a close game.
Lmao why the hell are the Dallas Cheer girls lined up along the Oilers walkway
let them know what they be missin'
I don't think that they are cheer leaders, but the ones who go out and scrap the ice during breaks. So, they have quick access to the ice surface from there.
The visiting dressing room is through the Zamboni doors, that is also where the ice girls hang out with shovels to scrape up the snow during TV timeouts.
@@yojlik That is the right answer: recruiting.
To make the Oilers do the walk of shame!
I was watching when they pulled the goalie and I was like wtf?! Dallas still has the Puck and you sent the goalie to the bench, how stupid can you be
These are my tots in the comments
Otter is 6'7 ..he is the door...LoL
Surprised Cody "C-Squared" didn't originate in Ottawa.
Poorest decision in this game was made three hours prior to puck drop. Keeping the same lineup because it won the previous two+ games.
Well, the past doesn't predict the future, sadly.
Let's look at the situation going into Game 2.
- Dallas not firing on all cylinders and is ripe for picking. Also prone to going down early in series but gaining momentum later. So you want to strike while you can.
- Starting goalie played very well in Game 1 but is mentally... vulnerable, let's say, and under media pressure.
- Team has come off a tougher than it should have been 7 game series, traveled, played a stressful double OT Game 1, and has baked in +45C humidity for 48+ hours. Likely going to be lethargic.
So what do you do? Hey throw them out again. Why not?
Well, you could have changed things up to help snap the team out of its predictable lull.
- Put Pickard in again. A) Team plays tighter when he's thrown in. B) Spares stress on Skinner if he stands on his head but still loses, which is kinda what happened.
- Put Henrique in for Ryan. Put him with Draisaitle instead of McJesus. Keeps the chemistry of the RNJ - McJ - Shaq H line going and gives Draisaitle some support on face offs, where he's struggled at times. B) Allows Ryan to see the game from up top. Have someone there to talk him through some of the areas he's struggled with. Swap him for Brown next game if Henrique proves he's good 2 go. If Henrique is not fully back and costs a game, then oh well. Better Game 2 for 1:1 series than finding out in Game 3 and going down 2:1.
All hindsight, but not rocket science if you have a feel for the team, which the coaches should have. Don't be afraid to use your gut feel, and leave the set playbook and statistical probabilities to the Blue Jays.
Skinner looked alot like Rudy Goebert vs Luka @ the end of game 2 NBA WCF... except Skinner WAS on ice skates, ehh...
Not a well oiled move
hahaha
That’s why my money is on the stars. Everyone thinks the oilers are going to beat the stars. They just don’t have the playoff time and brain.
Bottom line;
Edmonton generally dominated Dallas in Game 1, in which they were both lucky & opportunistic to force OT. The zebras were especially in their back pocket’s during that game. Our 3rd period was terrible in Game 2!
Regardless, we got the split & silenced much of any honest ANALyst, 80%, many whom highly disrespected the Oilers in their pre-series ASSessments. Generally, only highlighting how great the Stars are, like juvenile amateurs.
It's NOW a best of 5, we've stolen home ice advantage, with 3 of the next 4 games at home. The Oilers have both the top power play & penalty kill in the playoffs, the top 2 players on the planet, (check the stats over the past half decade), our goalie has matched theirs, our 4th line has been tremendous, we're getting scoring from our defence & other players beyond the BIG 2. They claim their blue line's better, I don't see it so far...We had the best record in the NHL after Knoblauch & Coffey took the reins post-Remembrance Day, (Nov. 11)...I haven't forgotten.
The NHL front office wants an all-US Stanley Cup Final…preferably big market NY & Dallas. Bettman’s been arrogant enough in the past to publicly say so. They also have their paid for officials to massage the game via one sided calls, manipulating faceoffs by waving the centerman & bias video reviews. Not my 1st rodeo…over 6 decades of hockey knowledge, a former Oiler Dynasty season ticket holder, where Hockey is KING!
For the naive & uninformed, follow the money for the answers 💵

It is extremely clear that the refs are against the Oilers. The inconsistency of the officiating has been brutal. That being said, I think each team deserved to win one out of two.

This guy's accent is something else. My brain keeps turning inside out trying to work out if he's an American trying to impersonate an Australian or an Irish guy trying to impersonate a Canadian. 😅
Peewee hockey on that decision. I bet they got an ear full after that play. Let’s see how they respond next game.
Edmonton continues with the bad habit of playing a "turd" period in these playoffs.
Why pull the goalie for fricken early every time. wtf. I bet they wish they had a minute to go and was still 2-1.
Skinner left for the bench while the puck was still in Oilers' end; should at the least have waited at the blue line until possession was established in Stars' zone, still - too early an attempt.
"The easiest goal of his career..."
99 out of a 100 people would miss.
Those plugs play like 6 minutes a game.. making the change there was just a reflex
Ayeeeeup. Gotta be one of the stupidest line changes of all time. Great. They'd better not try to top that.
Yo is that accent for real? It’s like some Irish Canadian Hokey Pokey talk
If your priorities are to line change in round 3 of playoffs, you don't deserve the cup.
League didn't want a repeat of Game 1. They ensured that with a timely empty net situation.
A first ever high-five attempt by 2 grown men cowboys was awesome
Justin couldn't have pulled off a better move himself
Do you think it's going to be one sided.lmfao.To much money rolling thru Vegas.
A line change after an empty netter? And theyre playing away next game? Well thats not good
Hintz should be back for Game 3 😁
0:59 you are getting a lot of mileage out of that footage. HAHAHAH!!!
That goalie pull was re-goddamn-diculous
Just patiently waiting for the turd period...
Just further evidence of why Edmonton deserves to lose.
It's only a terrible decision if it doesn't work...
I love watching the Oilers lose. Especially like that lol
Looks like I've got a new hockey channel to follow.
Yup
I was like #420!!! Smoke one, or seven! See ya next time. I am hoping of course that we draft a forward this year, and with our 2nd first round pick, (if we still have it), and if he's still available, id be good with a defenseman here, i wouldnt mind having Carter Yakemchuk, he even has a cool name! He played 66 games in the WHL last season and had 30 goals, and 41 assists, 71 points in 66 games, PLUS.... He had 120 penalty minutes, a bit of a scrapper, those r the guys u want on your team for a play off run, and he's a right D. Id trade reinbacher for this kid, like right now.
Stars win by 1. Other team's mistakes 2. Lucky bounces 3. Other teams missing top players
DALLAS 🏒 STARS will win the Stanley Cup
My guess is no one on the ice knew Skinner had gone to the bench. The plan was probably to get the puck in the Dallas zone, change lines to get McDavid etc out there before pulling Skinner. Somehow the signal was given prematurely and they got caught changing lines with an empty net
Sad. Oh well. We’ll have to take it in 5 or 6 then.
Worst goalie pull ever
Mc Saviour and crew ha a nite off...
The "terd" period. Well said.

Didnt notice the awful line change until you pointed it out.
They blew it
The line change was the true problem. Kane HAD possession when skinner was pulled, but he coughed it up like a ill bunny seconds after. The line change was hideous tho. Whats really the coaching problem is being in that position in the first place! 😂
Team of clowns.
The b'ys were doing their Nylander impression from one of the last Leafs games of the season. Except it was the entire line. Lmao
The coach doesn't make many decision but that one was real bad. Not with that much time left.
mr smiley face!
I thought the same about pulling Skinner! Stooooppiiddd
3:15. Fluffers
too bad the oilers are a really good team. They are not huge hitters but they have a really good core of players . And Connor McDavid that tries to play a communal game that includes all of them.
My confidence with skinner in net doesn’t exist anymore. Pickard needs to be in net for the rest of the series or playoffs.
