One of my players has severe arachnophobia and doesn’t deal well with even the mere mention of spiders. He does however have no issues with scorpions (even though technically arachnids). Therefore I reskinned Lolth to a scorpion queen.
Lolth was the final big bad in my first D&D campaign. She was also the only Mythic I pulled in any of my boosters so far. I figured I might as well build a deck around her.
@@Sarpro72 It's nasty. It's a Golgari deck with lots of removal/mill/direct damage (I hope I have these terms correct--compared to my egregious D&D obsession, I've never been much of a Magic player, as the scene where I used to live was toxically xenophobic outside of my few friends, and this is the first set that's really got me excited about the game, so I'm still learning a lot).
@@Dyundu it’s a great time to get into standard because a lot of overpowered cards are rotating. This makes many of the previously unplayable cards much more usable now and generates a whole new meta. Good luck!
Jarlaxle is about as selfish as they come, nothing good-aligned about him. He has an honour code that makes him more dependable to deal with, but that doesn’t make him good-aligned.
Jarlaxle is Not of good alignment. Don't let the interactions with his FRIENDS mislead you. He is a drow swashbuckler. That means he knows how to manipulate people's reactions toward him he's neutral evil in alignment.
I love these cross overs. I would be awesome if there was a crossover video comparing the dragons of MTG to the dragons of DND. Like Ugin, and Nicol Bolas VS Bahamut, and Tiamat.
Spiders are gross, but Drow are cool. Also, Lolth is as kind to her priestesses and faithful as MtG is to its fans. Wouldn't be my first choice of a divine patron.
I play D&D, but since I started in 3rd edition I never learned much about Forgotten Realms as that edition was set in Greyhawk. These are really cool and helpful videos. Thank you!
There was a great thread on the forums back in the day which had the "Gods Of The Mirrorverse." Like the Star Trek episode "Mirror Mirror" it's the universe of everyone's Evil counterpart (unless they were evil in which case they're good.) In the Mirrorverse Loth might be the Spider Goddess of the Drow Resistance to the Lawful Evil Elvish Reich, with webs representing communications networks.
Another good aligned Drow is every Drow PC ever. Nowadays, I haven't met a single Dungeon Master who plays the Drow as all evil. Specially when, like Tieflings, they are hot, and as such, the bi disaster kids like myself wanna play them. Back to the Drow though, I specially like how Matthew Mercer handled them, in Critical Role. Spoilers, I guess, for the second campaign, but at first, the drow are portrayed as all evil. But that's because the party simply lives in a country that's at war with the drow, and it isn't until they get to the drow country where they are like "Huh, they are pretty nice." Shoutout to my boy Essek while we are at it.
Is Lolth also a demon lord since she defeated the previous demon lord of the endless web? I watched Jorphdans video and he said she separated the endless web from the abyss as a separate realm but i wonder if perhaps she holds any demonic influence.
@@chrisnichols9014 I've read more on Lolth since I watched these videos. In the monster manual (5e) she has sections under both demons (demon lords) and under elves (drow), and even a brief amount of information under driders. From what I've learned, and I'm sure this has changed over time and everything. But first of all, Lolth is BAD BITCH. like, really bad, that's why she was banished to the abyss in the first place. Second she killed a demon lord and took over his spider layer of the abyss and stole his title, making her the Demon queen of spiders. So yes, she is drow demon lord deity queen of spiders. (I wonder if she's stronger than Demogorgon?)... How's that for a title, Danaerys, queen of dragons, khalisi of the great grass fields, etc.
Love the video! Big fan of MtG and FR. Loving this crossover! I did pull a Lolth PW. I like the card. It’s nice. I would have liked the ultimate to pack a bit more of a punch given its Lolth. Small complaint though 😁
Hey Hubby, they gave out a one shot forgotten Realms booklet at my pre-release. Would be cool if you & Jorphdan did some sort of "guid" tutorial like video for how to get started or what you still need besides that booklet ect. and btw keep it up man good job

@Rej glad the solution worked for you.
Blasphemy
I'd happily commit blasphemy for the wellbeing of my players.

can we see Bahamut (grandmaster of flowers) and his evil twin sister Tiamat next?
Coming up soon ;)
@@AetherHub nice
I'm enjoying this lore videos even if I dont play D&D. Would be nice if you cover all the legendaries of the set.
I highly recommend the books by r.a Salvador drizzt and lolth are really expanded in the first three the origins of drizzts
Thanks for enjoying the content my man 💪🏻
@@tylerkister4628 thanks, I'll take a look
Another good-ish aligned Drow is One Eyed Jax/Jaraxle. He's your mercenary type spymaster for the Drow on the surface of Faerun.
fun fact, he is not one eyed, he wears the eye patch just for some of the magical effects it offers, even tends to change which eye he wears it over

For non-native speakers as myself, these are lore + pronunciation lessons, it's like BOGO haha
Sound fades out for about 30 seconds or so toward the end.
I’m cutting it out. Thanks for pointing it out
No worries. YT has an edit tool that allows me to cut out the silence

Good stuff right here!
Did it go quiet for anyone else at 11:30 ?
The video is great but the audio cuts near the 3/4 mark, just a heads up!

around 11:26 Jorphdan mic goes silent and comes back at 12:23, Rip miss info. re-upload a new?
I decided to cut out the missed audio :)
Currently doing a run of BG3 with a Lolth-sworn Drow sorcerer as my MC 👌
I love your lore videos. I was here before you swapped to Trick Room and swapped back. Take care and thank you for the vids
There's a lot of hubbub around Lolth recently due to the Exandria thing on Critical Role so this was probably good timing.

Im Hoping for a Wulfgar video. Good job on this one!
That elminster isn't a planeswalker is crazy
She has such a seemingly happy name... as in she LOL-th at the drowsy drow.
The sound fades from 11:30 to 11:59.
ugh oh no! now to figure out how to fix without reuploading...
Jorphdon is actually Elminster, in this material plane.
In my last campaign, my Yuan-Ti god character killed and ate Lloth.
If I ever get a lolth, I'm going to get it altered so that it has the lol face
Lolth and Corellon had THREE children not two. The eldest daughter didn't get banished and never joined the dark seldarine.
Jordan should do Dragonlance Lore!!!

Most demon lords are scared of her. She's also a deity now so she can stomp them very easily.
