- A&Z #899 - Randy Santel "Atlas" vs Cheesy Bob's Extra Cheesy "Meltdown" Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwich Challenge at Cheesy Bob Grilled Cheese in Florence, Alabama!! After attempting the "Powerhouse" Challenge at Frutta Bowls in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, I traveled north up to Florence, Alabama which is the home of The University of North Alabama. I helped my friends with Cheesy Bob Grilled Cheese kick off their brand new extra cheesy "Meltdown" Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwich Challenge served with garlic cheese curds and tomato soup. Cheesy Bob offers 6 different gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches on their menu. For this food challenge, there was a 45 minute time limit to finish 2 of each of the 5 main options, served with a bowl of homemade tomato soup and a side of garlic cheese curds. Everything was extra cheesy and so delicious!! I was trying to become the first person to win my $75 meal free, a sweet t-shirt, and a spot on the Wall of Fame. Thanks to everyone with Cheesy Bob Grilled Cheese for the gourmet food, drinks, and hospitality!! Thanks also to everybody who came to watch and meet me that evening!! Cheesy Bob's Extra Cheesy "Meltdown" Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwiches Challenge ($75):
Cheesy Bob Grilled Cheese serves the Florence, Alabama area and is becoming very popular!!
Florence, AL is the home of the University of North Alabama so Bob serves lots of college kids!!
Cheesy Bob offers 6 different gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches on their menu. For this food challenge, there is a 45 minute time limit to finish 2 of each of the 5 main sandwich options:
FUNKY CLASSIC GRILLED CHEESE- Our super cheesy classic grilled cheese on our buttered sourdough with our Funky sauce (sweet and tangy).
SWEET APRICOT GRILLED CHEESE- Sweet and salty grilled cheese but not too sweet or fruity. Just Yummy and also on our buttered sourdough bread.
SMOKEHOUSE GRILLED CHEESE - Our version of a BBQ sandwich in grilled cheese form! Blends of Cheddar & Pepper Jack with sautéed onions, Bacon, and hickory BBQ Sauce on a Texas Toast.
PEPPERONI PIZZA GRILLED CHEESE - Blends of Mozzarella, Fontina, and Romano with layers of pepperoni & pizza sauce on garlic peppered sourdough bread.
HOT HAM & CHEESE GRILLED CHEESE - Layers of Provolone and Mozzarella with thinly sliced Tavern Ham, Dijon Mustard, and Pickles on Texas Toast.
The challenge comes with homemade tomato soup plus a 4oz side of Cheesy Bob's garlic cheese curds.
Winners receive the $75 grilled cheese meal free, a sweet t-shirt, and spot on Cheesy Bob's Wall of Fame.

@@m.r.9838 He's getting fluffy, but why do people always feel compelled to criticize others instead of focusing on their positive aspects. Also, do not underestimate the passion factor in gauging whether "it's healthy" or not. Randy seems to have a lot of fun doing this, and that's a much underappreciated factor in the overall health of people. Sure, from a pure caloric point of view - seeing that he's tending towards a Kapha type person - he probably will have a hard time getting those shaved off in the short time span he has between challenges. Additionally, today's nutritionist education is extremely biased towards the micro-level (boldly assuming we actually have the slightest understanding on how the metabolic systems of systems work in our body) and the science behind it is mostly based on questionable assumptions and industry-sponsored research. Randy might run into long-term health issues, though not due to caloric aspects but rather the quality of ingredients of some of the food challenges he dives into. Nevertheless, I'm convinced that with Randy's passion and love to tackle "food challenges" as a professional, his level of "health" is likely above average. Plus, he's in love, which will activate additional healing of his cells :).

@@Erati243 Not really... 7 sandwiches + soup and a drinks + extras, including overhead of running a buisness + salary for workers + overhead for things like internet and pos systems etc. Not everything in life is if you could make something at home similar... there is a reason people support small buisness... They offer good things for the community as well and a better end product than you can do yourself.

Hey Randy I have a question that’s been on my mind for quite some time, is there any restaurants were you didn’t like the food when you were doing the food challenges?
Yes, haha luckily that doesn't happen super often though. If you ever see me immediately dip the food in the sauce or drink a lot of soda with it from the start, that's a pretty good indication that it's not great. But this challenge was very very good!!

@@diq5386 oh, yeah so it's a creation by taco bell, it's basically a big tortilla with taco stuff in it, specifically in an order. But, a tostada, or crunchy taco in the middle of it. But you fold and grill it shut.
Kinda hard to explain, but it's actually the best thing taco bell offers. It's more like a taco salad in a tortilla. I used to make them all the time, but hadn't for a while.

(most of) These challenges are not designed for eaters like randy and joel etc.. They are designed and given a time limit to allow normal eaters the perception that they can finish it. So yes of course a pro eater is gonna destroy this, thats why pro eaters destroy pretty much every restaurant challenge they ever do.
Why would you make it unattainable for someone who is not a food challenge eater to attempt to try this challenge? That's the entire point of a food challenge like this to bring in customers who think they are able to beat it and get dinner for free. Sure the publicity of a food challenge expert coming to your restaurant is great but this guy barely beat in in the longest time limit you stated. Plus these competitive eaters aren't there trying to save money on food like the average person who would like to try this... they are just there to advertise. I don't agree with you. They will get more money having these guys come in and crush it and then have regular customers see how fast they did it and assume they could easily do it too since there is a bunch of time left and that's not the case 99% of the time thus selling way more of these high ticket platters.
Santel... you can tell in this video that the feats you accomplish are sometimes just as much a mental game as a physical thing.. Congrats on 899!!! And congrats on the KILLER suffer-fest bike rides you are doing between competitions. Happy New Year to you and your team Randy!
