When I was eleven years old in 1971 Olivia made her first UK TV appearance singing her first hit 'If Not for You' (fabulous Bob Dylan cover) and instantly fell madly in love. My mother could not drag me away from the TV at my grandparents' house until the song was over. I was mesmerized and stayed madly in love with her for her entire career. I moved to the USA and live in San Francisco so on my 40th birthday in 2000 I took the shuttle flight to Las Vegas and treated myself to her Vegas concert. There I was this forty-year-old grown (gay) man sitting on my own crying with joy in the seats at the front. Just a little bit. She sang for two hours and was pitch-perfect. Wonderful woman.
I have been a fan of ONJ since I was 9 years old. As talented as she was the most remarkable thing about her to me is I have never seen her put on any airs, ever. She was one of the biggest stars on the planet and it is almost like no one ever told her. It is so refreshing to remember given how many famous people are convinced of how important they are. Every conversation, interview, whatever with Olivia she is content being herself; entirely genuine, humble and grateful.
Olivia really stood out above all of the others. This graceful angel had it all. What an era in music. There will never be another time like those 50 years & certainly never another like Olivia! Extraordinary Talent, Beauty, Humanity, Never Ending Kindness. Olivia was 73, very ill & yet, she still had nothing but joy & kindness to give to others. The memory of Olivia's Smile, Her Beautiful Heart, Exquisite Voice, Wonderful Music & Olivia's Enormous Humanitarian Contributions will remain with us in our world. How lucky we are. I am certain that she feels the love that comes from every corner of the globe. Moreso, that she knows immeasurable peace and joy as she rests in eternity. 💜 N-J 🕊️
I will never forget Olivia newton john she was part of my childhood in the 1970’s grease Xanadu and all those great albums what a voice so sad news rest in peace Olivia x
Another sad loss to the world 😢 But oh what a fighter she was to have fought her cancer for 30 years! So glad she got to have a fairly long life bless her. Gone but never forgotten 🌹
Olivia went on lengthy school field trip with her daughter on a bus full of Chloe's peers, they were touring many California sites. This was in the mid 1990s, I was working at the Marshall Gold Discovery State Park museum when they came in, I enjoyed meeting and talking to Olivia and her daughter Chloe. When I asked Olivia to sign our guest book she asked me to also ask her daughter to do the same. That she did that and went as chaperone for her daughter and her friends, I will always remember as a wonderful example of what a good mother she was.
Rest in peace sweet Olivia Newton-John. Sweet segment, Mr. Letterman is always so kind to his kind guests! Sweet that album was made for her daughter, a precious gift. The choir above just got a beautiful new spirit.
Thank you for uploading this clip! She sounds great on this song but although the interview showed her lovely personality, it was too short. Rest in painless Peace Olivia. 🙏❤
I always loved Olivia Newton John and appreciated her strong spirit with her battle against cancer. Breast cancer and blood cancers are especially insidious and unfortunately keep coming back. RIP ONJ.
A terrible loss of a wonderful person in a world on the edge of destruction. I remember when Grease and then Xanadu came out in the theaters, she just blew us all away with her immense talent. My 5 year old son became enamered with her back then.
She was the ultimate role model. I look at today's singers and mostly i cringe. Olivia was humble, natural, authentic, kind (and the list is endless) to the end. She never changed. That warm sunny person graced everyone in the same way. What a beam of love and light. No wonder we miss her so much!😢 ❤😇❤
Well said. I initially fell in love her looks and voice, but the more I learned about her and her life, I realized she was equally beautiful on the inside and I don't know if there will ever be another celebrity like her.
Gone but not forgotten. 👍I can't remember if it was Johnny Fever or a Toronto DJ in the 80's/90's but someone referred to her as Olivia Neutron Bomb. Whoever it was it was a perfect analogy. I'll always remember her as such.
It's always fun when a truly beautiful, talented, gem of a woman - sits in the interview chair, and Dave's turns back into an awkward high school weenie … what's funny here, is Olivia seems to pick up on Dave's nerves - and she's trying to calm HIM down. RIP Olivia - you were a gem.
What is a nightingale personality? We each have a primary persona, mine is Nightingale. “Nightingale genius is their deep love of humanity, sensitivity, wise empathy and heart/soul beauty. I think that's really cool of you to say. So many people can't recognize a talent because it's not to their taste. They should know it's okay to admire technique without particularly liking the music, or joke, or what have you.
@@johnhunt1805 thanks... it's good to have an open mind... Abba is another group that is maligned but talented... John Lennon liked them... and Bob Dylan liked Barry Manilow!
Really? 51 here, you should checkout ONJ vast musical catalog from country to pop/rock to her new age and back to country. she was moving & groov’n many years before Grease. And I love Grease.

I think Olivia Newton John had the greatest smile I've ever seen on a human being.
Yes❤️
100%!
Agree 100%. I think she had the best everything in a human, inside and out, and the voice of an angel.
She was an Angel.
My heart is broken into pieces over the loss of this sweet soul. Seeing Olivia in concert was pure joy. Rest in power, Olivia Newton-John.

I've been in love with this sweet Angel since I was eight years old in 1975. So sad that she's gone but thankful she has no more pain.

This was in the mid 1990s, I was working at the Marshall Gold Discovery State Park museum when they came in, I enjoyed meeting and talking to Olivia and her daughter Chloe. If that's the case, then it's all the more tragic that her daughter wound up going completely insane.

Its been said that when the good Lord created Olivia he was just showing off! A true legend!
What a wonderful talent and gentle soul. I f*cking HATE cancer in all it's forms. RIP Olivia. 😢😢😢

Similar for me at that age, my mother loved Olivia and took me to see Grease at the drive-in.
RIP Olivia, you still live in my heart.

Love how The World's Most Dangerous Band starts playing "Physical" on the cut to commercial....man I miss them!!!!
Let’s not forget that Bill Murray opened the very first Late Night guest appearance with her song “Physical”!
One of a kind, Rest in Love Olivia 💔💔🙏🙏

Beautiful song. I never heard it until now...Aug 8, 2022.

Thank you Don Giller!
She is a doll. Adorable

Olivia Newton-John fue única y tenía una dulce manera de interpretar una canción. RIP Livy. 🌷
RIP, my first love
Rest in Peace loved you in grease 🙏
She has a resemblance to Meg Ryan a bit here. But of course, pure Olivia.
RIP, Livvy. You are missed.
What a beauty!
She was so cute. ❤

Oliver Newton a Real JOHN indeed
You can tell Dave is being extra charming because she is so attractive...I would too ! )l
Back in the day she could not be beat!
Visually, not musically 😂
Sorry to hear she passed, but there's still no forgiveness for Xanadu.
RIP
Singin’ in the same range as Karen Carpenter.
They were friends. Two of my very favorite singers. Both kind souls (though Olivia took being kind to another level). May they both Rest In Peace!

Hard to believe Olivia was 42 years old here (she was born in 1948). She could easily pass for a woman in her mid-20s/early 30s.

Are Sid AND Will Lee both playing bass?? WTH?

Didn't she sing "Body talk"? Oppps "Physical" is the name of the song. I crack myself up.
I cracked up seeing Oppps instead of Ooops
This has to be one of the worst songs ever. Hopefully Olivia only dancing to You're the One that I Want up in the great beyond.
