- Today on what it’s like really cool featured car, also a very rare car. They only made five of these and sources conflict. Some sources say three, but no more than five. And this car is probably the nicest car that has ever been featured for the channel… it might even be the nicest restored car I have ever seen.
Special things to Gary and Howard at Canton Classic Car Museum for making this possible for giving me the opportunity to show this car, as well as thank you so much for restoring it back to its former glory as well as everybody else involved in that project. It turned out incredible what a piece of history.
Enjoy this episode =)

Yeah buddy you congratulations you got it =)
Well Done 👍

I miss the days of cars crafted like a piece fine jewelry ! absolutely beautiful !
Me too a car that was a machine and a work of art and something to be truly proud of
That car is stunning inside and outside. It's a rolling sculpture. It may have cost a fortune to restore but the result is worth it. Beautiful. Just beautiful.
Totally agree this car also had such a presence…
That’s a piece of art…. Plain and simple!
Totally agree I I hope I did it justice. The paint on this was absolutely flawless. I’ve never saw gray that deep before I’ve seen red and black that deep but I’ve never seen gray that deep. It was almost unbelievable.
@@What.its.like. It’s obviously beautiful, but it is also a conundrum. Hate to drive it… Hate to just see it sit still… 🤔
One of the greatest things about Canton Auto Museum is everything in that museum runs and drives and they drive them. This car will definitely get used.
@@What.its.like.That's good to hear, Jay.
What an amazing car! You were very luck to have the opportunity to review it. Thank you for sharing it with us, Jay. And I'd take that Lincoln in both cases, of course!
=) super honored to have this opportunity would love to see these cars used one day I hope to get a Chrysler airflow going to drive it and share it with as my people as I can
This channel exists to inspire people the drive something different drive a machine drive an icon..
This car makes me drool... Thank you Edsel for painting it this color... absolutely gorgeous! Thank you, J for giving us a gander a this piece of art! WYR: 1) and 2) if I can get it in this color, the Lincoln!!!
Totally agree the car is perfect
WYR: Packard (BIATP) 32 Lincoln and Murphy bodied Lincoln. That car is absolutely beautiful. The time, craftsmanship, and effort put into the restoration is mind blowing. Thank you so much, and to the owners, for letting us see this rolling art ~ Chuck
It’s hard to beat the packards hoping to cover one this year really want to do a airflow
Great choices
My grandfather had a radio that looked like this. One side mount spare was the volume, the other was the channel seeker.
My grandparents had a radio that looked like a Deusenberg.
Same way with the spares! Probably same company made them. Was it sitting on a black shiny rectangle?
@@ericbitzer5247
That cool! they may have made a bunch of different ones who knows?
Interesting to note that Edsel's personal 39 Lincoln Continental and custom 34 Ford roadster were both painted in a metalic grey color as well, He sure had an eye for style and what a great looking car should be like. Beautiful car.
Totally agree thank you so much for sharing that =)
I am in agreement with you and Edsel Ford regarding grey cars, and this Lincoln is an excellent example of why. That is just about the most perfect shade of grey ever applied to an automobile, and the paint looks a mile deep. Superb! Thanks to the restorers for sharing their beautiful work. It's utterly stunning!
Standing next to it, gave it a presence like nothing has today there isn’t anything that’s even remotely comparable.. one could buy a grand Wagoneer, but they’ll probably have more problems with it then driving this car every day and that would honestly be a great episode is compare compare one of those high dollar luxury cars that’s almost 100 years old to a new luxury car, and see which one cost more to own.. that’s actually an episode that I really want to do one day but I couldn’t bring myself to spend $100,000 on one car. I’m in the camp that if I had 100 grand I would rather have 10 10,000 cars or $25,000 cars I don’t know I’m just wired different..
Great idea! And I'm with you on not blowing the whole budget on one car. My bestie and I were admiring a friend's new Jaguar when he leaned in and whispered, "That's way too much money to have on the road." Truer words have never been spoken!
Yeah and it’s way more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car fast..
My friend by the last name of Shelly as mentioned in the Mustang video, just got back from Sebring and he was showing me all these pictures of all these hyper cars and I told him that those don’t do anything for me I don’t like cars with compromised driving positions.. idk I like to see where I’m going and be able to get in and out of the car easily.. also a plus is getting in and out without sitting on your nuts hahaha
The Lincoln had such and up and down history . Hickups in the 1950s when it almost lost its identity to the fabulous 1960s when it was a head of its time in styling . I find this video another great education on the Caddies under appreciated cohort in American luxury autos.
I had to stop the video in the middle to say WOW! I would hate to have to be the one keeping this baby looking new unless I was getting paid but this is not a quick spray and done back in 1932. Much to intricate in so many areas. But what a beauty Jay! Thank You again!
The paint was flawless, the car was a million times better in person.
What a stunning restoration!
Totally agree one of the BEST if not the best restored car I ever saw, they are really proud of it, as they should be the craftsmanship and detail and that paint was so rich and deep it was like a mirror and ive never seen gray do that. Out of 50 shades of gray it’s the perfect shade of gray.
wyr Packard
wyr Pierce Arrow
wyr Braun (?)
Wow, you must be a popular guy for them to allow you to review that gorgeous car. It is a beauty , never will a car be built like that ever again. Thx , Jay
Awesome choices, I wouldn’t say popular but would say I’ve got to meet some really incredible people through the channel and it’s amazing with the Classic Car hobby really is is a bunch of networking most people in the Classic Car hobby want to share it with everybody and that’s what Canton Auto Museum is.. they are an awesome group that loves cars. Sometimes you get car museums that could care less about the cars. They’re not like that there they are car people through and through.
One day I would love to have both Gary and Howard on the channel for part of the conversation or you guys could ask any questions that you want. We didn’t get to do one last month going to try to do one this month. Maybe it all depends on people schedules there are a lot of people that would love to have for that segment. Those two are definitely up there on the list of people I would love to have just interview and talk with them.
Packard 😍❤️
Pierce Arrow
Dietrich 😊👍
Fantastic Lincoln absolutely gorgeous...
Great Episode
Happy Motoring ✌️🤠
Awesome choices
I’m speechless what a beautiful, wild design automobile
So was I when I walked back into the back room for the very first time and I saw that car sitting in there it was like wow.. =)
What a stunning motor car.
Very BEAUTIFUL. Thank you for the video
=) glad you dig this episode
Wow, what a magnificent motor car. I get the feeling you loved this one, Jay.
I do love this car, when I was there I didn’t know how rare it was, Gary called me up and said the roadster was done.. and could tell he was super excited/impressed on the phone. They are working on another car Lincoln that will be featured when it’s done =)
MAN! That is ELEGANT and EPIC!
Totally agree =)
Wow, Jay. That car is a work of art! Those gauges look they would be hard to see tucked under that ledge under the windshield! That car is too pretty to drive!
It is absolutely gorgeous it’s 1 million times better in person. When I went to go shoot this car I didn’t know how rare it was.
Always enjoy your work all my best hope you prosper thanks so much
Thank you so so much for for all the positive vibes. I’m glad you dig this channel. It’s going to be an awesome epic spring summer and fall and honestly can’t wait =)
First choice Packard Twin Six, second, 1933 Franklin supercharged V-12, Final pick would be a Lincoln with a LeBaron town car body. Awesome find and quality restoration of a rare car, it will be a trophy winner. Shining star Earth Wind and Fire
Awesome choices totally agree. They’re planning on taking it to a couple shows.
Might have a surprise for you later on, but I can’t tell you what it is right now but it’ll definitely be worth the wait
That is the name of the tune, as well as the band
Hot88s23 beat you for title
There is just NOTHING like these early 1930's cars. Recently, I've really taken a liking to these cars as I really begun looking at this era after a 1931 Cadillac 452B Phaeton caught my eye.
I totally agree there is something about the 30s cars I want a 30s car =) I’ll share with everyone when I get one
Given the economic times, it's easy to understand why there's only 5 of these made. Exquisite for a roadster and the restoration looks perfect. WYR 32 Lincoln/ Murphy all the way.
Totally agree you have to remember like you said this was one of the worst years of the Great Depression 1932 no one had money.
But you have to admit 1932 was a stellar year for cars. Every single manufacture put out a really good car. There wasn’t any bad cars in 1932.
1932 Packard Twin Six for the win. 🏁🚩🏁 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🥇
.beautiful car jay, thank you
That is the song and band Hot88s23 beat you for title
@@What.its.like. yes hes quick , I edited it and took it down
WOW! This is truly Rolling work of Art! Nice.. Thanks for this posting👍👍
You bet glad you dig this episode
They're all pretty cool.
When the video first started I thought, 'I know that garage!'
=) you have to get done there and see that car.. they do stellar work.
The entire top row is my choice of cars ! Cheers Jay it was a top spec car this time, mate. Cheers from New Zealand
Haha I did not make this. Would you rather easy
I had some other contenders as well like Marmon could’ve been up there
What a beautiful car. I love these big old roadsters and I particularly like the convertible top hardware in the interior with the polished wood supports. I'm impressed by luxury convertibles that dress up the convertible top hardware instead of using the usual ugly utilitarian black painted stuff. WYR #1 the 1932 Packard Twin Six #2 1933 Franklin Supercharged V12 and #3 the Murphy body, although the other choices are pretty impressive too.
I totally agree. There is nothing on sale that is even remotely comparable to this car.
I don’t know if you heard the bloopers, but 1988 Mercedes sold the 560 SL for the same amount of money but nowhere near the level of car this is… the 560 SL Mercedes gets put up on top of this high pedestal and it’s nowhere comparable to what this car was. These are up on a pedestal because they are rare and they are a work of art. Frankly that you could drive seats were comfortable and firm carpet throughout which was soft. I took my shoes off to get in this car cause it was raining outside and I didn’t want to track in…
I wish I could convey what a presence this car had
Hi Jay! The Lincoln is, of course, impeccable! Murphy was sort of known for their "disappearing" top convertibles. There were at least a few on the Duesenberg Model J chassis. More than likely they did one or more for Packard, but I am not sure. I too, want to congratulate Gary and Howard for such a BEAUTIFUL restoration on a marvelous car! WYR's Jay, you are KILLING me on these! I want to pick that Lincoln SO MUCH, but you make it HARD! Going with the Lincoln anyway for number 1 and three (Murphy body) Going with the FRANKLIN on number two.
Thank you so much for sharing that information and insight
I want to have Howard and Gary on the show one day I would love to interview them in part of the conversation I haven’t forgot about that segment I just got really busy all of a sudden and haven’t been able to go back to that
I don’t know where you’re at in the world but if you ever get a chance to go to Canton, be sure to stop there that car is definitely worth seeing in person
Great choices
@@What.its.like. I've been to Canton, but it has been quite a few years ago. Wish I had known about the Car Museum!! Would have been a must visit. If I ever get up that way again, will stop and see it.
I never realised they had white-walls with the white on both sides. I thought it was just on the outward facing side. Cool!
True white walls are on both side so when one rotates the tires they can also flip them if they wanted to
WYR: All of them.
One of five made AT ALL? That's EXTREMELY rare.
Awesome choices totally agree. I didn’t know it was that rare when I was there
@@What.its.like. I get it, man. Research definitely helps. If it had been the only one ever made, that would make the owner one lucky person.
It’s the only gray one, Which is pretty cool I was so happy to find that picture of Edsel Ford in the car but I don’t know if it was actually in that car. I wish I could take the picture and colorize it to see if that car was gray that would’ve been freaking sweet…
@@What.its.like. You can always find someone who does that for a living and have them do it for you. Doing it right makes all the difference.
For WYR, it’s Lincoln, Lincoln, and Murphy bodied.
I’m with the others here, that’s a beautiful car with beautiful paint. And a unique dashboard…chrome steering column? One of those cars I’d like to see and hear in action.
Awesome choices =)
Absolutely superb video, Jay! One of your very best. The "Would You Rather?" options include every one of my favorite Classic Car era models, with the exception of the Chrysler Imperial from the same era. I mean, really??? I'd give a few body parts for any of them. I have a suggestion for your "Name that tune..." segment - what if your song choices were from the year of the vehicle you're featuring. I might stand a chance at it for 1932 as the Big Band Era is my favorite musical era. Keep up the great work. Andy
Happy you dig this video. I’m not sure if anybody would get the big band tunes though. I’ve done a couple with Glenn Miller and sometimes people don’t get it.
An exquisite and impeccable work of automotive excellence!! All in the first scenario are awesome Imo, but I would definitely love to have this one, with the Packard running a very tight second! I would pick the Franklin in the second because I think it looks really cool, but only provided that I already had the Lincoln. In the third, I really like the look of the Dietrich and the Murphy, and the Brun,in that order. Cool video!😎
Awesome choices I love looking at Dietrich cars cause you can definitely tell if it’s a Dietrich car they have a special style roof..
You know, a chassis usually included the front clip of the car body all the way to the instrument panel, giving the custom-bodied car an easily identifiable family resemblance. The windshield back would be the custom built part. The golf club door was probably expected on the higher-end roadsters.
I'd probably go for the Packard twin-six roadster.
Awesome choice great information =)
WYR1: Thought today's feature was the epitome of 1932 style, but I have to say the Packard edges it out. WYR2: Lincoln takes this one. WYR3: I like the Murphy body for this one , too.
I totally agree. Great choices.
Art piece beautiful car. Packard - Pearce A
Totally agree
It’s wild I live in Akron and had never heard of the Canton museum. Need to check out ASAP. Also, Packard almost dialed in, you’d be welcome to do a vid this summer!
Awesome what packard do you have.. I need to go to the packard museum in Warren one day
But yeah you need to go to canton auto museum they are open Wednesday through Saturday
This may be the most perfect machine ever featured on your channel. I wouldn't sell either, for fear of abuse or neglect.
Without a doubt, it is the only car that comes close was the 57 dual ghia that car was perfect as well..
I never saw gray that deep before
The photo at 4:45 was Edsel and his Lincoln roadster on the front straight at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
When I found that picture, I was like jackpot.. the only thing that I wish I had was color changing photos, software. I would love to see if that car is gray.
Real sexy, real luxury. 12:05 Is that a lamp inside the golf bag compartment, up top of the r.s. foot well? If so, it's quite a thoughtful touch. 12:39 The door trim curving up to meet the line of the dash means that this styling didn't start with cars like the 69 Grand Prix, but predates it by at least 37 years. WYR: 1. This Lincoln 2. Pierce.
Thank you so much for pointing that out. I totally forgot to mention that.
Great choices. This is a stellar car.
Murphy fitted a number of these bodies to the Dusenburg J/SJ chassis as well, I know one sold > 2m at auction. During this era if you still had money to burn left, you had the option of catalog customs, series customs or full custom coachwork - depending on the depth of your wallet and whether you lived in protected enclave where people wouldn't throw rocks at you. All the fine cars were in a blaze of glory - and by 1934 it was pretty much all over. Oh, there were Cadillac 16's, Cadillac, Pierce, Packard and Lincoln 12's after that, but they had moved with the times and would gradually adopt the potato styling trend of the mid-30s (though more deco to be sure), and the plethora of custom bodies would would diminish considerably. That dash to me is a stylistic decision - it emulated the speedster cowl, even though this was a full on convertible. Did you note the chrome flaps that came down on top of the window when rolled down? Same thing. WYR: 1) the KB, simply for quality 2) the Pierce Arrow - even though the car pictured is the 429 cu 160 hp 12 vs the 1933 7.6L (175hp ) There was also a 398 cu - underpowered at 125 hp - came later 3) Really the Dietrich coupe looks stunning, but I'll go with the Brunn so I can carry some passengers.
Great insight and information as always =) sweet choices too
My picks here would be the Packard and Pierce Arrow, but the nod would go to the Lincoln Roadster by Murphy as only 5 were produced. One car that was equally as rare was the 1933 Pierce Arrow Silver Arrow.
Sweet choices I’d love to feature the silver arrow one day
@@What.its.like. It was said just 3 Silver Arrows still exist today, but I did see one of them at a museum in San Diego in 1990.
Kissel had a windshield like that. 🚗
A little behind on my viewing, but Happy Easter! Still enjoy your videos!!
Happy Easter to you and your family =) happy you still dig the channel
@@What.its.like. Sure thing, Mr. Picky has to work hard to find faults in your videos. 😁🥳
Hi Jay. That's an outstandingly gorgeous car, with a super fastidious and expensive restoration. Maybe that's a bit sad in a way, as it looks too well restored, or possibly over restored, to actually drive - note the odometer sitting on 00000. A couple of things.... There was even a light in the golf club space! And I wondered about the reflection of you and your camera when you photographed the wheels. I wondered at first whether it had had a disc brake conversion, but I now think it has a chromed disc between the brake drum and wheel. Does anyone know if this is original? Cheers.
They are going to drive this they drive everything that’s in their museum
I was asking Gary if he was thinking about taking it to Pebble Beach and he told me the other Murphy that was in the pictures one second best show .. That car is absolutely gorgeous and that’s an understatement. I didn’t see any flaws in the paint
I was really honored when he called me and said if you want to come up and do this roadster it’s done and I could tell in his voice he was really proud of it. I hadn’t seen it.. they’re working on another Lincoln from the 30s V12 it’s like a midnight blue. I thought it was that car..
When I walked back in the back room for the very first time and saw it sitting in there, I was just speechless .. Duesenberg also did Murphy body cars and I don’t wanna say this is better than a Dusenberg, but this car has such a presence I can’t even explain it..
I got to see a Murphy body Duesenberg at Hershey unrestored and I would’ve loved to cover that for the channel but there was always 1 million people around it. I couldn’t get anywhere near it and that’s a tall order to ask… And honestly I didn’t know how rare this car was until after I shot the footage and came home and did some research and then I had to call Gary just to make sure that my research was right because what I came up with. They only made three of those… and he told me he had a book they’re like the Lincoln gurus of early anybody restoring a Lincoln in the area they go to them for information..
One day I’m going to interview Howard and Gary as part of the conversation they’re really cool people
How could you choose only one of these six!
Hahaha I know right
Murphy and Dietrich were rather similar at times
Yeah, I noticed that too. Dietrich had a specific type of roof profile that when you see it, you know you automatically know it’s a Dietrich
So you used shining star again hey! Throwing curve balls. LOL. Either way as I said in the past no pre 1940's car for me. But for style I would go with the Dietrich.
There are so many nice cars from the 30s that get overlooked. I really want to cover an airflow this year that’s one of my favorite 30s cars… I actually when I get enough money, I wanna buy an airflow it’s between that or a packard
@@What.its.like. it's not that I don't love the earlier antique cars, many like this one are awesome. I just don't want to mess with spark advance, fuel mixture, etc. I would rather just drive a quick, responsive car, with very good brakes. Airflows are great, just not for me. Keep up the good work.
I'll take the 1932 Packard
Sweet =)
1932 Cadillac…. Packard close second.
1932 Pierce…. Franklin second
Any of the 4 door closed cars.
Awesome choices
WYR? Packard and Pierce Arrow...
Sweet choices
One of the last roadsters ever made by Lincoln.
I believe it should be classified as a convertible coupe as it has roll up windows, where as a roadster has no roll up windows. The give away was the door glass window crank and the hinged cover over the window frame. Being soon in my 89th year and being a classic car nut for 75 years, I know a bit about vintage classic cars! My 1936 JKS Boat-Tailed Speedster is a roadster.
Me and Gary were just talking about that. It should be classified as a convertible, coupe, or a Cabriolet with rumble seat but Murphy called it a sport roadster.. I wanted to show how the windows worked, but I didn’t want to open anything but the doors if you saw on the door, there was a hinge section when you crank the window open, it pops open it was so classy and so elegant
But I want to buy it!! Can I buy the museum?? 💰😊🌴 I'm not a big Ford fan, but that is a beautiful Lincoln. 🦚 Edsel was a good egg, he made up for some of Henry's shortcomings. 🥚
