    Looking forward to this one. I ordered Into the Dark a while ago, just for the terrain. Last week I ducked into my favorite hobby store (more of an old school model store, with trains and gunpla and the like) for some plastic glue. The clerk and I started talking about painting projects, and he mentioned a Marvel Crisis Protocol mini is painting for a local competition. The subject turned to gaming, and that there are tables at their other location. Long story longer, I said I would like to try Kill Team, and he says they have a group that meets at the store once a month.
    And I am assembling a Sisters Novitiates team right now.
    So long way of saying thanks for this.

    I started to learn how to play 40k a couple of days ago. I thought it was a bit complicated but man, this makes 40k look like paper rocks and scissors. Why would GW make a "fast" and cheaper way to play with their miniatures so complicated. It's a mess in my opinion.

    • @GlassHalfDead
      @GlassHalfDead  8 місяців тому +2

      This is a great point and I totally agree with you. Games Workshop NOWHERE in their marketing has talked about the complexity of KT. They push it as the skirmish version of 40k, and people naturally assume that skirmish = easier and simpler.
      Warcry is exactly that for Sigmar. The last edition of KT (and all previous editions of KT) have been that for 40k. There is nothing in GW's messaging for this edition of KT that would make you think it's any different to those previous editions.
      But you're right. This edition of Kill Team has more complicated base rules than 40k.

    I'm just getting into 40K and Kill Team and this was really informative. Just out of curiosity though, and I think I already know the answer, but if I wanted to build up an Ork army in 40K (or any of the other factions you mentioned in this video) could I used the miniatures from these Kill Team kits to supplement a 40K army? Again, I think I know the answer since I've already seen a lot about kit bashing but this is all really new to me...and games aside, just building and painting the models is really appealing to me.

      Yes, I believe I had a point in the video where I specifically talk about this, but I'll reiterate it here. 100% YES your kill team models can be used in 40k!
      You mention Orks. The Kommandos kill team has a specific datasheet that can be used in 40k with all the same loadouts you use in KT. No need for conversions or proxying, your Kill Team is valid in 40k.

      You know, that's a great point. It isn't exactly easy to find which book you need for the rules of each team! Unlike 40k they aren't clearly listed. So, for the Veteran Guard team you need the Octarius book and for Breachers you need the Into The Dark book. And, just looking online now, there really isn't anyway for you to find that out without reading the description of every single KT book, which is silly.

      A single box of scouts isn't an optimal kill team. In fact, assuming it's a box with only 5 models, you need 10 scouts to run a single fire team from compendium with them! So you'd need to buy an extra scout box (I'd recommend the sniper scouts if you do buy an extra). The starter set really is great value, but to be absolutely bare bones from where you are, one extrea box of scouts would give you a legal team, sure!

    Hey, as a new interested player to WH40K, I want to start small, and i was wondering... if you get into kill team with a small amount of miniatures, are those miniatures usable in the regular war game version, and vice versa. So basically are you limited by the route you choose to start with, and is it important to make a decision which game mode to play and commit to it? (this is obviously for the beginning stages as someone who wants to start simple and small, maybe i'll eventually play both anyway). I'm just so torn between buying kill team or buying a 500 point army for regular 40K, unless they can be played both ways, then there would be no issue I suppose.

    • @GlassHalfDead
      @GlassHalfDead  Рік тому +1

      Hi hi. So you're not limited really but it does depend. All models from kill team can be used in 40k but not all 40k models can be used in Kill Team.
      So for example you might want to start 40k by buying a combat patrol box and you might get models in there that can be used from the compendium book. It won't be a spec team though unless you specifically buy a spec team.
      Long story short, if you know which faction you like, you can buy the spec kill team and it will be useable in 40k for sure.

    I have to disagree in the case of the "measuring" Symbols. They're utter nonsense.
    You're right, we only need 4 distances. But what did these symbols change? I could use similar measuring Tools just with 1,2,3 and 6 printed on them.
    No need for a tape measure, you're right. But no need for inventing new symbols that mean exactly the same either.
    And, to make it even less initiative, they're colored.
    So I now played against people using inches (a few cases where the imperial system is the best choice😁), probably the most, some used the symbols and a few even used colors...THIS isn't a good design choice.
    And all o that to sell some Essential Boxes...which are no longer up to date because of the new Tac Ops Card Sets.

Thanks to GW supply policies, I couldn't secure a core starter box. May 2023 I was one of the few in Australia to secure a copy of Ashes of Faith, before it too sold out in seven minutes. Great video, I guess, but that fact I still don't understand is not so much a reflection on you or your video, as a reflection on how GW tries to make 40k more simple and still totally fails to understand accessibility. Well, they probably do, somewhere, but they are much more interested in a kind of DLC model but physical, to maximize sales. I still love the 40k universe but who has time to work out all of this shite? I'll just paint the models I think, because they are cool.

    At this point I feel like just "supporting my local game shop" I hope they have the army I want...

    • @jorgemontero6384
      @jorgemontero6384 Рік тому

      The starter set terrain is just the 'small' bits of the octarius box: only the light terrain, none of the buildings. So yes, you aren't going to play full games using just the terrain in that box. That said, if you have any random 40k terrain, want to go with something cheaper, or plan to get Into The Dark, you can get enough terrain to play anyway. The starter set doesn't come with a list of serious missions that require all the terrain anyway.
      So sure, if you also want the Octarius terrain, get the Octarius box(if you can still find it). But just see that you have many alternatives. Ultimately GW minis are expensive, but it's their terrain that is just crazy more than off-brand alternatives that serve the same purposes.

    Chalnath, for example, is going for about $125 right now and it has some of the nicest terrain in the range, as well as coming with one of the strongest teams in the game.
