Hi, I'm confused with the ammonium salt. If the ammonium salt has NH3+Cl-. Then it should be neutral right? So 7e- must be on the left hand side.

+Reginald Bayoan Yes I can see why it is confusing. I think I should have removed the Cl- part as it is a half equation. I placed it in to show that it was a salt and should have rubbed it off before balancing. It does look confusing and I will get it re-filmed to clarify the point! Thanks for that!

for the ocr exam board do we need to know how to form an amine from nitriles and nitrates? or only from haloalkanes?

when you are forming the water from Nh3 where does the other 2 hydrogens go because you take one hydrogen from nh3 with oh to form h20 but there is still 2h from nh3 ?
