Airing down woulda helped a little likely. And some better tires. But I’ve been in that same exact spot in spring and it’s as sketchy as it looked. Even with good gear it can go sideways. Pun intended lol. But you’re right it coulda helped and Glad everyone was safe! We did the same exact slide and it’s why I will never drive that last little stretch in spring /winter ever again.

Nearly went head first off Canyon Road about 20 years ago while descending. Need good tires and 4LO.
They should have made this into an ad for the ballot initiative Anchorage just voted on to pave and build a parking lot up Canyon. Great after work backcountry skiing up there but it gets incredibly sketchy in the spring.

Why those guys thought it was a good idea to try and climb that mountain, in that type of ice & snow, w/out chains... is beyond me.
They own a stock 4runner and think they can go anywhere at 40 psi.
4runner dont look like he air down. also never want to lock ur brake when rolling down or else ull end up sliding and kickout the back due to weight transfer.

@CityAdvenTours Na the rescue group was bomber and prepared. I'm talking about the 4 runner they didn't know what was up. I was on that road in 1992 for a avalanche recovery. We got 2 dead out of that area on November 9th.
