25.4 liter V8, probably about 500lb-ft of torque, cone clutch, bicycle tires, priceless one-of-a-kind artifact, millions spent on restoration... getting sideways in the rain. LOVE IT!

Great to see this car being driven instead of sitting in a museum collecting dust. What a ride that car must be!

+Eric W I don't mind seeing it driven, but I'd rather they built a replica to do their racing in. Whenever someone crashes one of these old cars, it's ruining a piece of history. I'd rather see it covered with dust and cobwebs in a museum than as a crumpled pile of scrap because some rich guy thought it'd be fun to play at being an old-time race car driver.

justforever96 wasn't this car built for racing?

@@justforever96 Look at all the historic vehicles that have been lost to fire when the building they are stored in burns down. Lifes a gamble and nothing is safe. Cars need to be used and enjoyed. There is nothing manmade that cannot be remade or repaired. If you read into the history of the 1905 Darracq most of the car had to be rebuilt from scratch during the restoration, which is fairly common practice on most vintage racers that were constantly changed, wrecked, rebuilt, parted out, or scrapped over the last century.

The multi-plate clutch we all know hadn't been invented when this special car was created. I believe the car has a cone clutch which 'bites' rather suddenly & 200hp hits two skinny tyres - in the rain. No wonder the bugger shakes it's arse about.

What a delight!I wonder how many people-brakes only on the two rear wheels and very dicy steering-have been pulped by this fuel-guzzling monster?

Where is the transmission? Is it direct-drive? The clutch must be under the drivers seat, because you can see the driveshaft spinning while it's idling. There would have to be a clutch behind it or that wouldn't be possible. And there's no room for a transmission, either fore or aft!
