- The french manufacturer Darracq created in 1905 this "thing", simply putting two 4 cylinder engines together on a chassis. With no front brakes. That's it.
This 25 Liter V8 released 200hp and can bring the car to almost 200 km/h.
This "beast", coming from National Motor Museum of Beaulieu, was seen during Rétromobile 2016 in Paris, France. - Авто та транспорт
Imagine going almost 200 km/h in this, in 1905. 😨
GEIL! XD
Yeah for sure, I cant even imagine going 200 km/h in that today.
And no front brakes! this man must have balls of steel!
Now that's a HOT ROD !!!
90% engine by weight. unless you count the driver. then is 60% balls
When Louis Chevrolet was approaching the finish line, no one heard sound of engine, but heard clanking of his steel balls.
Might be the best comment in the history of youtube I would say 😌
Lol at the kid in the back
MCMiridion So this is how we have Muscle Cars today
I know poor wee bugger, noise used to bother me when I was wee but a few years of these kinda motors and it don’t bother me anymore
1:38
Some serious pull
The kids reaction to the incredible noise when it fires! 🤣
Love the exposed valvetrain
Outstanding work of engineering, I wish to be there with you guys but I am thousands of miles away.
This is essentially the ultimate go-kart
That thing defines body flex
Someone with a lot of sack actually DROVE this beast.
People still drive them today, in races nontheless
The owner of the car is certainly one of them. He still races that car in vintage races across UK.
MAGNIFIQUE! Enthousiasmant! Merci!
Engine is a beast!!! Gobs and gobs of torque.
By looking at the driver's face you know hes a mad man 😂
Next time my girlfriend says my race car is dangerous I'm going to show her this video
The beast lives!
Solid motor to frame mount
You see the whole cat flex with acceleration
Sure it’s only a 3,000rpm motor but that’s torque
Not 3000 RPM, 1200. It’s rated 200 hp at 1200 rpm. With 25 litres displacement, the crankshaft and block to withstand the inertial forces at 3000 RPM would have made it very heavy. As it is it’s incredibly light for a 25 litre engine.
One day all cars will be built this way
With co2 regulations less likely
Also, internal combustion engine automotive was merely 20 years by that time of release, so it's surely a masterpiece of its time.
Stunning Gorgeous Car! The Gran Mother of Alfa Romeo....
True...... thanks Darracq
And it's French
That's awesome to watch
Häftigt. Allt var bättre förr. Grattis på födelsedagen Jörgen!
Louis Chevrolet (that Chevrolet) constructed it and raced in this.
"So what do you drive?"
"An '05 V8 car."
"Whoa, is it a stang?"
"Nah, it's a sort of pre-WW1 car."
genial..!!
andando como nuevo. con.fuerza.
...sería lindo que pueda correr un poco.
Se hecho sigue corriendo
Going 100 mph in that with 200horse power
You had to have Balls as big a Texas
Nah, Alaska
Nah, Western Australia
More like russia
sketchy as %$^& fun as hell. That thing sound nice
And this is how Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was inspired.
There is two of them so they don't tip over?
I love how it doesnt have front brakes... even though the weight is at the front
This car is now in the videogame Mafia definitive edition, known as "Disorder" 😬
Wait just a second now. Was that enough fun for everyone?
We need a modern reboot with a Corvette V8
1:38. THATS FAST! Look, thats a violent acceleration... quick as hell. Its scary when you realize its from 1905...
2 100hp 4 cylinders
I know the description said it makes 200hp, but how much torque does it make?
Other reading about this car has the torque to be about 950 foot-pounds! And this at about 1400 rpm...
Dave Gardiner
Holy shit! That's awesome!
I dont think there are gears, just a clutch onto the diff in the rear axle?
Two speed planitary gear box
Such a funny thing to think that while Mark Twain, Florance Nightingale and Monet were still alive that this thing was loose on the earth
Whoa! D:
Technic brutal - I wanna drive that thing, but I'm afraid I'll wet may pants . . .
then dont wear pants.. problem solved.
The boy in the Background is scared to death
smart kid
How comes a machine becomes more than its parts ie cars steam engines boats and Aircraft is it love admiration or just blind passion
I want one of these soo bad, but instead make it out of current materials, 572, slightly wider tires and proper brakes, mmmmm
I'd run it.
This is so cool. That's one good thing about the Europeans. They like to drive cars like this while people from other countries will leave them on showroom floors as Museum Pieces
Yeah, the owners were crazy, but in a very good way! There's actually a video here in UA-cam somewhere of the owner and some friends completing a 1,000 mile journey from the UK all the way to Tours, France, using the Darracq and other cars of similar vintage, as their own way of commemorating the 1914 French GP held there...
Pretty traumatic design
the car bounching like nightmare whenever the driver hit the gas due engine movement, make that car unstable. the engine has monsterous torque and the chassis too tiny
Aint that fun?!
Yeah it's a death trap everyone knows
that particular class in that time period had a weight limit - this was I think 10 pounds under the limit
I'd go mad from that awful noise it makes. Thank God I get to live in this century
Франция вышла, пацаны
Miss firing badly, you would think it would run better then on fowled plugs????
It would pretty much immediately foul them up as well. These are very Primitive Carburettors and the Lubrication is Total Loss, so there's just a lot Soot and Oil and unburned Gas going around.
The only Way to run it cleanly is by driving it and getting the Temperature nice and hot.
I mean, the Oil Tank is about as large as the fuel tank, I'll leave the rest up to your own imagination.
that is not a misfire. it idles at 400 rpm....
@@MyFabian94 THats a coolant tank
Way to much motor for that rickety go cart
Daniel keirstead sr Go Kart on steroids its like the Ariel Atom of it's day
There's a great video of it at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The owner was driving it like he had had just stolen it. Chassis flexing every time he stroked the throttle & shaking it's ass as 200hp meets two skinny tyres.
Disappointed. I wanted to see a top speed run.
Marcus Cook there's a video of this thing driving hard at the track
Mufflers, it…needs… MUFFLERS!
*WHAT* !?
"I don't need no stinking mufflers!"
Helll no!
What? And spoil the music?
Now swap in a 2JZ
huh?
I couldn't give a shit about "period correctness". If I owned that car, there'd absolutely be something over the flywheel. Back in "the period", these machines maimed as well as killed.
Really not impressed. Sorry.
its about 950 ft/lbs torque at 1200 rpm. still not impressed?
Its not a iPhone.
@@wishusknight3009 Danny is a troll, that car is impressive in anyone book, (except a troll)
youre boring
