Oh wow this is a must have! This could be used in so many other ways!
Mage-Lite and Gloomholdin' are two games that have been on my list for quite some time. I love the concept of converting massive games into a tiny version.
This looks awesome; I might use plastic, color paper clips to indicate current offer with the spells, possibly.
I use cubes but they aren’t ideal because if you turn or lift the card….. colored clips are a good idea.
Joe does it again ❤
I have long considered whether or not to try _Mage Knight_ and been daunted, but this looks like a very manageable dip-your-toe scenario without the steep cost (in dollars; the cost in time to learn the rules is what it is). And while I had come across _Gloomholdin_ in the past, I did not know about _Mage Lite._ Thanks for the video -- I reckon I'll be crafting my own copy this weekend!
Watch some Mage Knight vids before taking this one out for a test run
@@GeekGamers01 most definitely will -- I trust you when you say it's not "lite," I'm just happy that I now have an opportunity to watch Mage Knight vids _as prep to play_ (rather than just as a spectator) without dropping $60-100. So again: thank you!
@@Genghis-Pawn If you do end up playing this, never having played the original, come back here and let me know what you thought. I mentioned these in the vid, but in addition to the (obvious) place to start-Ricky Royal’s Mage Knight series-I would seek out Flying Solo playing Mage Knight. Not as well known, but a wonderful series to really dig deep into how the game works.
I do want to chime in and say, money and time wise it is indeed a serious investment, but playing the actual mage knight cooperatively (haven't tried solo or competitive) is absolutely fantastic and well worth it if you can find it for a decent price. It's very difficult but very rewarding.
@@popperzockalew I have not played it anything but solo but would love to play it cooperatively… completely agree that the game is worth it & my default assumption in this vid was that only those who already love & play it would pick up the mini version. I don’t see this as a substitute for the main game… not at all.
I can appreciate the thought and work that went into creating this, and for people who want a portable version it’s great. But for me personally, my eyes hurt just seeing the cards on my screen, so it’s definitely not for me. If someone turned MK into more of a solo RPG, however, that would be amazing and something I would be very interested in. Good video, though 👍😁
There’s a lot of fan-made content for Mage Knight that lets you play it more as an adventure game with non-combat interactions. I have a video on how I play it that way. Not an RPG but more fleshed out with quests etc.
Sorry if I missed it, but is the only way to get this game is to print it yourself? Thanks for the video. Looks really good 👍
Glad you enjoyed the vid. Yep it is PNP only.
Great playthrough, thanks for the video!
Do you this it is possible to play the game with the wounds system from mage knight?
Thank you!
This system is similar in its impact without the use of the wound cards (instead of gaining dead cards you lose “live” cards).
Is the other game called Fistfall? This looks amazing, and I want to get my hands on this. pun intended;
That would be a great name. It’s Mistsmall: Mist-small. It’s a lot of fun & feels like the main game.
Where did you print all the materials?
As mentioned in the vid, the designer sent me this copy.
Curious how replayable it is, and how long it is compared to MK?
It’s shorter than MK but hard to tell you how much. I think it is very replayable tho by definition the number of all types of cards is fewer than MK. But the basic mechanic of MK-which allow for so many different things to be done-are replicated here, thus making this replayable.
It is my go to travel game and on a recent vacation I played it every morning, getting in a game in about and hour and a half or so. I was glad to play it for 4 or 5 days in a row and it’s sure to come out the next time I travel like that.
