This woman is a gift to all of humanity. Her book is an education to help understand the news of today, and see beneath all the hype. Highly recommended.
+Cloe Jarozenski I haven't been able to find an example of her calling herself a feminist. She certainly appears to criticize modern feminism regularly though. Has she actually applied the label to herself?
+Cloe Jarozenski I am confused. Isn't she a home wrecker? Didn't she get pregnant with a married man, and then married him thus breaking the home of his previous wife?
+catprincess9 Excuse me, but you are missing big time the big picture of women like Ayaan fighting for women like you for their right to be treated as human beings and as equals in a free society of men and women and you are worried about her private life? How petty and small minded can you get? Wake up, girl! You are living in the 21 st century on a planet called earth! Unbelievable!
TRUE sorry never meant to exclude you guys! just comparing her to hitlery and michelle Obama you know someone who truly suffered and can use her brain and talents and a testament to always telling the truth no matter how others might threaten her life she is brave enough not to stop!!!
I am a man and I think she is very inspirational! All men thinks this is bravery regardless of who they are!! She is constantly in death threats for doing things like this and needs a bodyguard to do this job that she does. There are men who were raised as Muslims who would never speak against Islam being afraid of death. She can be a role model to them anyone else.
+Ryan Becker I'm a fan of hers. I've read her books, and agree totally with her views on women and Islam. However, she does have a worrying right-wing slant, from her days in Dutch politics, to just tweeting last week her support of idiot Canadian prime minister Harper over the liberal Trudeau. It may be because Harper was "more anti-Islamic extremism", but her one-note views have often been misplaced when it comes to those she supports.
+celticp2000 right wing slant is not worrying. What right wing stance do you not like that she supports? Balancing of budgets? Reducing the size of government? Liberals think they have the truth that they only see and other don't!
+Waderinga Balancing of budgets? Like George W. Bush did? Reducing the size of government? Or claiming to, while being in the pocket of the military-industrial complex.
+celticp2000 George Bush was a lying bastard. Ayaan Hirsi is a libertarian and the 'right' wing is closest to libertarian beliefs. George Bush was a right wing president who lied to people about reducing the size of government and balancing of budgets. That's why I could only vote for Rand Paul
+UA-cam Aneesh Bro, you're a straight white male, haven't you learned that your opinion doesn't matter..... wait unless you agree with the social justice warriors, then you're hero.
I'm a libertarian and even though I don't agree with you on many things I have massive respect for what you are doing. The Regressives have got ridiculous and you are leading the charge to restore common sense. Thank you.
+Cody Leonard I don't think he would call himself part of the left if he were a libertarian, he is for redistribution of income, state regulation of business, he certainly is pro-national bank, he certainly accepts that things like medicaid should exist and even if he believes in a libertarian sense of free will, which I assume, he still accepts consequentialist reasoning. I don't accept the notion of libertarian free will and therefore I can not with any logic embrace libertarian ideology but in practice I find myself agreeing with some points but more different principles.
dffykvn did you read the 1500 page manifesto? She said that's why he did it because that's why HE said he did it, over and over. Stating someone's objectives and justification doesn't mean that you endorse that justification. I wonder if it's possible to warp and decontextualize something further than you have already?
I was raised to become a Jehovah's Witness, and now I'm very happy there was no such thing in society called _JW-fobia_. Being a JW meant I had to marry within that denomination, I had to marry to have any sexual experience at all, I had to shun people who were no longer JWs, I had to believe non-scientific and anti-scientific things, and perhaps worst of all, I had to say no to blood transfusions if I ever came in a critical enough situation that I would need that medical procedure - even if it would mean certain death. And I believed all these things to be good, proper things to do, that had biblical support (and that 'biblical support' was important). Thanks to the ability of people to criticize that faith openly, I was slowly able to wake up and eventually leave it. Why should Islam be any different? Because we should understand each other to death? So we can put ourselves on our high horse of political correctness and show people how tolerant we are? No - people in a religion often don't realize that it hurts them, just as I didn't realize it, and believed following the tenets to be the best thing I could do in life. When you're 'high on religion' (or other ideology) you become blind. And then it's a good thing that other people who are not part of it are _allowed_ to point at the emperor and reveal that he's in fact not wearing any clothes.
It's good you got out, most of the people on my mother's side of the family slowly started becoming Witnesses, then quickly ceased all contact with my immediate family. JWs are in it to win it. I had an employee of mine got in my face because told him to stop proselytizing and spouting anti-abortion rhetoric at work. He was homeschooled and it was his first job so I cut him some slack.
+Frank N Stein Sorry about the late reply. Well, there are several reasons intelligent people can believe these things. Although I struggle with accepting that intelligent people convert and/or are convinced by their arguments at an adult age. 1) Growing up in the faith is one reason. Every authority figure in your life believes in it, so that's an incentive to believe. Being young, one thinks that these adults must have dug into the issues and figured it out. 2) Fear of death and pointlessness. This is the same for all religion, I guess. 3) Hard to grasp perhaps, but within the 'bubble' of these religions, they make rational sense. Meaning that if you accept their premises, you may accept their conclusions. If for example, you are convinced there is an afterlife, and that there's an entity that can ensure that you'll either get there or not based on your actions in _this_ life, and you believe that for instance blood transfusions are against this entity based on some Bible-verses that you believe are directly inspired by said entity, then it follows that it's a good idea to decline a blood transfusion, because even if you die, you'll then be rewarded an eternal, blissful afterlife. It makes some twisted sense within the bubble. It occurred to me finally though, that if someone offers you something great beyond this life, which is the only life anyone can claim to be 100% certain that we have, and the price of admission to that great thing is death, then they better have 100% proof that you're going to get that reward beyond this life.
+JohnDoeSchmoe Good to hear your experience. It is interesting what you said that people inside religions cannot see the harm it could be doing them - the more insular a life is the harder it must be to have a chance to actually reflect on this. That could potentially be true of any culture if we are not able to question it... so a healthy culture must hold the ability to ask challenging questions as something precious and to be protected - any culture that doesn't is exhibiting a dangerous attitude. We can observe such problems in Islamic countries, but it is true in other countries too. Maybe some people are fabulously lucky and they are born in the best country with the best beliefs and traditions AND God loves them more than anyone else... that must be great! But I get suspicious of any such claim when these people demonstrate a deep fear of being questioned or criticised :-)
Ah, a fellow ex-Jehovah's Witness! I, too, was born and raised to be one, and one of my most cherished memories was when I decided at the age of 11 that what I was being mandated to think and to do went against so much of who I am and who I wanted to become. Yes, it is one of the more indoctrinating faiths out there, and my family (both nuclear and extended) has splintered and been shattered by the Watchtower Society's horrible disfellowshipping practice. I sincerely hope that you were never baptised, but even if you were I want you to know that in spite of the fact that I have no idea who you are and will almost certainly never meet you, there are many of us out there who stand in solidarity with you and all of our TRUE brothers and sisters who have had the courage to face social ostracization in order to be free.
+thenoeggplantzone Wow, I usually never read comments but just went down yours and found an intelligent viewership, generous comments and no trolls. Let's hope it stays that way for you!
+The Rubin Report Don't worry Rubin, with these kind of fox news tactics the sky is the limit! things you omited (on purpose?) "In Niger, for example, 55 percent of Christian women and girls have experienced FGM, compared with two percent of their Muslim counterparts" source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female_genital_mutilation#Religion It is a cultural phenominan in Africa, but you know that does not fit your narrative, the hate the enemies of Israel narrative, did you forget you are an American aswell? Just going all in with extreme zionism where you spend every waking moment demonizing arabs and muslims? If I talk about jews will you yell Antisemite? Jews are not a race of people, Dave you really have become what you hated and fought against, nothing but a foxnews pundit spreading hate and omiting information to serve your cause.
I don't care if he is islamohobic, it's the blatant anti arabism which him and Harris shares that is bothering me. They don't give a fuck about the victims of Islam, which are overwhelmingly arabs in Syria by islamic group like ISIS, they just care that arabs tend to be anti Israel and that is where their "new atheism" comes from. You must have noticed the pattern. They drive every discussion into the topic of Israel when it's not a factor in the debate...
+UA-camr I'm pretty sure neither of them even mentioned Israel in this whole video. You're the one that brought it up. I notice it's the Muslims that usually bring Israel up when it's not an issue in the discussion being had. And how is wanting to stop ISIS with the abilities they have "not giving a shit about the Arab world"? If they hated Arabs they'd say "let ISIS burn the entire Middle East to the ground" but they obviously don't. What's wrong with wanting to stop ISIS because they want to stop ISIS? Why do you project a pro-zionist agenda on every white person in the west discussing this issue?
This interview made me cry. Thank you, Dave Rubin and Ayaan Hirsi Ali. You two are marvelous people for trying to be as intellectually honest and open as possible.
I will freely criticize Islam and all other religions, regardless of laws that may be passed in opposition to free speech, threats of violence, or regressive leftists using foolish suppression tactics. Freedom of speech is beyond all other concerns, period.
ED Pdx Excuse me? I actually have mixed feelings about the Palestinian/Israeli issue. I would ask that you provide proof for your outrageous claims about Atheism and "our leaders"(?). I consider myself to have no "leader" as Atheism is merely the lack of a belief in god(s)... I think perhaps you need to learn more about the subject matter you are discussing as you seem to have little understanding of Atheism. As a side note I am sorry if you have been treated unfairly in life, that doesn't excuse blind hatred as that will only lead to more suffering.
Greg Swamp So you start from a correct statement for Jewish people that practice circumcision... most Christians also do the same thing. The Jewish and Christian and Muslim 'holy books' all have tons of genocide in them actually. As for the 'usury' comment, that's just bigotry.
Have you ever listened to the talks she has given. If you know anything about Islams plan for the world to surrender to Islam you would know there is a kernel of truth in what she says.
she lied about where she had come from. as in she said she had come directly from somalia. why? because she feared she would be sent back if she said she came from a 'safe' country. and she used her grandfathers name. please. she is hated because she speaks truth. reform islam. many try to discredit her.
What the fuck? It got rushed over but Ayaan summed up the issue on the left with such perfection it hurts: "Here's the irony I think... it used to be the left that would take up the defense of the weak and now unfortunately we live in a time when it is the left that has decided to define weak units as groups, not individuals"
i am from India, and do not have anything to do with America, but i love your political shows, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart etc, and all of them have helped me grow and understand the world to some extent, but i have to say Dave Rubin is the first person , who through his interviews has gotten me to question my own world views, i love your work..i love all the interviews you have done so far, keep up the good work man ...... your work makes me better more intelligent and more capable ........
João Fardilha She said she was 2 years older or younger I think. technically not allowed but I don't think it's a good reason to kick out somebody like Ayaan.
it might be helpful to understand the whole story... before entering into her government position, she made it known what had occured regarding the name issue.... and technically, she qualified as a refugee and was instructed by her interviewee in the Netherlands how to respond correctly, in essence, in order to ensure that she could gain entrance and protection into the country under that status.... she did eventually become a citizen and was forthcoming about the whole name thing.... she actually was fearful about her family finding her at first and I think that is why she wanted to use a different name.... of course, this is how she spelled it out in her book "Infidel" and has stuck to the story since then.... anyways, it was her expectation to have been forced to do something she did not want to do and would likely have been beaten... although, after some time, a group of Muslim men associated with her father eventually came to the Netherlands to question her about what she'd done and were quite tame... but, had she been in a Muslim country, she would have highly likely been without the protections the West offers to women who are forced and beaten into submission to the will of men... but, really, the important thing is that she was forthcoming about the name situation and was an exemplary addition to the nation of the Netherlands... but, of course none of that matters, that would just be logical... meanwhile, Morroccan immigrant men are traffiking women into the Netherlands and pimping them out.... but, whatever.
I'm sure I don't need to tell you of all people, Dave, but many people at TYT do exactly what you were complaining about Jon Stewart doing: always trying to draw parallels between Christianity whenever somebody utters a criticism about Islam. Cenk did this incessantly during his 3 hour interview with Sam Harris. I just don't understand the purpose of this tactic. "Whoah, but Christians have done bad things too!" Yeah, and fuck both religions. So what? How does the fact that members of one religion have done bad things excuse or temper the bad things done by members of other religions? Basically everybody who criticizes Islam also criticizes Christianity and any other religion that deserves criticism. So this isn't in any way a gotcha question, yet they seem to imagine that they're catching people with their pants down in an act of hypocrisy. This is, in fact, borderline delusional behavior; Cenk kept trying to portray Sam Harris as a Christian apologist. Sam Harris! A Christian apologist! It's one of the most ridiculous ideas that a person could put forward! The guy has invested years of his life into savagely criticizing that religion!
+A Skeptical Human The point those people forget is that while Christians did that stuff in the past, they didn't do it in the past week. Does the fact that America used to practice slavery mean that therefore slavery in other parts of the world in modern times is A-okay? No, of course it fucking doesn't, this is a bullshit red herring argument that is completely irrelevant to the subject of the atrocities that are currently happening in Muslim countries. Yes, Christianity did some heinous shit in the past. As soon as someone invents a time machine I"m sure we'd all love to try to change that. But until the Delorean starts working how about we stop trying to excuse modern atrocities by pointing out that different groups also committed atrocities in the past. SO. FUCKING. WHAT.
+Chris Whinery - "The point those people forget is that while Christians did that stuff in the past, they didn't do it in the past week." Exactly! Don't get me wrong, I am no friend of Christianity. Most of my anti-religious energy has been directed at Christianity, because that's of course the predominant religion in America. But that doesn't stop me from recognizing that there are differences between the religions! Some religions are worse than others, on the whole, while others are better. Some are worse on specific issues, while others are better on specific issues. But there's this baffling trend of attempting to portray all religions as equal: the holy books are equally contemptible, the actions of the followers are equally harmful, etc. And this isn't just the general impression that I get; I literally hear this position made explicit regularly. At the very least, this would be extraordinary unlikely: for two different religious doctrines to be *equally* absurd and have *equally* bad consequences, given the millions of followers and thousands of words of scripture. But if you just look around in the world, you'll see that this is factually inaccurate. Dozens of people are not killed each week by Christians committing atrocities as a direct of their doctrine; the same cannot be said of Islam. This is just a statistical fact about how the world is today. Yes, in the past, Christianity was much worse than it is today. But today, it's not as harmful-although it still does produce a tremendous amount of harm. There is just not the same degree of moderation and neglect of scriptural commands in Islam as we see in Christianity these days. More death and pain and suffering in the modern world comes from Islam than Christianity. And to deny this, and instead put forth this perverse equal-opportunity harm doctrine, is just silly.
+Chris Whinery - And it's strange, because they seem to think this signals some sort of open-mindedness and tolerance on their part. But it's a very peculiar kind of tolerance that says: "All religions are equally contemptible and harmful." There's this clear desire to not single any group out, perhaps for fear of seeming racist or biased against certain cultures, but the end result is basically saying: all of you are equally terrible and deserving of condemnation. So they're not really doing themselves any favors in the eyes of both atheists *and* religious people. I think this observation is really the cherry on top of the already absurd mountain of bullshit that they've built for themselves to stand on.
+A Skeptical Human It's classic collective groupthink mentality. Just throw all religions in one big pile and put a big X next to it. It's the same reason they invoke cultural relativity, because all cultures are heaped into one pile and labelled taboo. Nothing is examined on an individual level. Whenever I see this "what about christianity" bullshit, I always think...so what do you suggest then? Ok let's tally up - we've got the Crusades, we've got the Inquisition, we've got abortion clinic bombings etc etc...How about we just let Islam go on the way it's going, it'll be on-par with Christianity in maybe...50 years, and _then_ something will need to be done about it? It's just such a ridiculous statement to begin with.
I think the best moment in that debate was when cenk started to criticize sam for being ignorant to the middle east. he simply said "you do know first book ever written was about Christianity? right ?" pretty much a nutshell as to what you were saying here. lol. people tend to forget exactly what his first book was about.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a courageous Freedom Fighter who deserves our support and respect. Shame on those who try to silence her because she speaks against extremist Islam.
I am grateful to live at a time in history where her story can finaly be heard. Her courage is inspirational. The embodiment of peace, love, and hope. This is a true human being.
My god. How can a human being go through such horror and still be rational? Still be reasonable? It's too much to take in, to absorb and think about. She is incredible.
Ayaan Hirsi. The most most beautiful and brave woman on the planet. A true ‘feminist’ who is risking her life in an attempt to ensure no woman endures the horrific mistreatment that she has lived through. I am a middle aged white male from Australia and if my two daughters grow up to have half the strength of Ayaan, then I will die a happy man.
Ayaan, you are a true hero and Australia and most Australian's missed you and your voice of reason when you didn't come out here recently. We are lucky to have individuals of courage like you.
Great interview Mr Rubin. Ayaan, what a Great lady. Keep fighting, we need people like you, democracy and people that love democracy need you. You're simply amazing.
I haven't had much of a chance to hear her speak before. I'm glad that I now have, and I'm glad that it was on your show Dave. She's very inspiring, makes great points and clearly has a good head on her shoulders. When listening to her I'm dumbfounded as to how some people have come to certain conclusions about her. Dave, as always, careful to let the guest make their points and convey their views clearly without interruption or misinterpretation. Great guest and great interview.
She is a cool lady sharing her thoughts and experiences, thanks for being so bold and bringing your thoughts into the public domain, most people don't have that kind of courage. Respect.
I started watching TYT about 2-3 years ago, but within about a year it just became unwatchable. I no longer agreed with any of the views people had and had issue with the way that they were said. Then there became a sudden increase in reports on things like "Hugging bars in Japan". Which could be an interesting look at society/cultural differences etc. But instead seemed to be used as comic relief or something. Felt like I was completely out of touch with them. Probably wasn't until now that I've found a show that I can totally relate to. I love the 1 hour interview style, really get to touch on a lot of topics. Thanks for all the effort that goes into this show and all who are involved
Great interview, Dave. Hearing Ayaan talking about the neoconservative agenda is very interesting, considering the parallels that it has with what Sam Harris has already said. I think this is probably the largest point of contention when it comes to talking about their endgames regarding Islamism. You would have to be a moral relativist so far down the rabbit hole that Glenn Greenwald would be your virtuous paragon to think Islam isn't in dire need of reform. The problem is that the process of reform always comes back to the real possibility that it might not be possible without violence committed by an arbitrary party, and this is what makes it so difficult to approach from a practical perspective. Ayaan and Maajid are both modern heroes, but they're struggling against fundamentalist ideas of their religion and an entrenched distrust of the US based off of horrible foreign policy decisions over the years. Never mind the amount of violence committed in Islam's name, to even consider the full implications of a reform that would dismantle the last remaining, oppressive theocracies is to somehow adopt the mindset of imperialism. It's a bleak reality, but I have hope that Muslims who want to modernize without the baggage of fundamentalist Islam understand that there is a want to work with both Maajid and Ayaan, and that not everyone has given up on them. I say this as someone who grew up in a fascist Christian institution.
+WayToTheGrave "The problem is that the process of reform always comes back to the real possibility that it might not be possible without violence committed by an arbitrary party" Violence is not a possibility, it's a necessity. Power, by it's nature, doesn't just hand over the keys and walk away.
+Daniel Adam daniel adam you are an idiot, your grammar is crap and you are a liar i know thats not your real name, you are ashamed of yourself.Ayah hirsi ali is a heroine and has risked her life for many years for her principles and struggles for justice in the islamic world she tells it like it is,long may she continue
David Rubin. You were amazing. Clear thoughts, great choice of guests, simple natural flow. Great service to humanity. Wish we have more courageous people like you and Ayaan
Dave, sadly she's living proof of something else, and that is for those brave women (and men) who challenge Islam's all encompassing authority...and breaks free, their freedom comes with fear of retribution (honor killings, stonings, beheadings), need for protection around the clock (body guards, panic rooms, etc). And you know what, Yes freedom, even freedom in those confines is worth it.
Quality interviewer, quality guest - brilliant result. What a pity it's "only" a YT channel and not mainstream television. - view figures today only 38k - deserves so much more exposure.
dffykvn direct quotation from her interview with Sam Harris "it goes without saying that I was horrified by his actions. He is one of the worst mass murderers in history, and there’s no question about that."
dffykvn well yes anything else that can't be proven by science or verified from a trusted source should not be taken in face value. Just like your "information" has little to no value to me.
dffykvn I am taking it face value because its coming from a verifiable source (the person herself) And I have yet to receive the evidence of this "defence" from you, hence why I am not taking you seriously. Is this so hard to understand? what difficult is to articulate is illustrating what you are doing so far has little to no intelligence attach to it ,its really comparable to calling people's name in kinder-garden as it has no evidence. Nuance seems lost to many people and I assumed (wrongly/correctly) that you are one of them.
dffykvn Yes you are , I have not. But even if she did defends that piece of shit monster , it does not invalidate all her points. Just make her a person with flaws (a glaring one however). I am interested above all else in ideas, and while it is disappointing to find she "defends" Brevik at one point,I still find many of her liberal ideas agreeable and that's what matters the most to me.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali is the Joan of Arc of the 21st century, and watching her come together with Majid Nawaaz is like DC and Marvel uniting to put the smack down on the ideals of Islam, SJWs and the Regressive Left! Ayaan and Majid FTW
I hope there's some ex special forces badass standing guard on the other side of that door. What Ayaan is doing pisses off a lot of psychopaths. If I were a an ex special forces badass, I'd take that job. Anyone who would wish harm on someone for speaking out for basic human rights deserves a quick exit to their imaginary afterlife.
Wow Dave! You`ve got one hero of mine after another already interviewed. All fiercely independent minded, truthful and serving the righteous causes that matter to everybody but the traditional liberal media and their groupthink forums. Well chosen guests...keep up this good work, will be telling everyone about you.
People, especially feminists, talk about how terrible female genital mutilation is, and it is indeed terrible. However, I rarely if ever hear people condemn male genital mutilation (circumcision), even if it's not as severe as female genital mutilation. I think that people consider male genital mutilation to be acceptable, even in the 1st world. I just would like people to condemn all genital mutilation, not just when it happens to females.
Hi Dave! This is a wonderful interview. Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a perfect guest, and I believe you could even learn from her a bit. She doesn't speak in generalizations, she doesn't assume any ideological foundations (she always defines her views in context), and she reflects on complexities. And her international perspective and diverse cultural experiences are absolutely crucial. I'd love to see your other interviews step up to this quality and for you to take even further steps to boost the quality of discourse on your show. I'd love to see you devil's advocate and draw diverse perspectives out of your guests even if that means stepping away from the ideological agenda of the show. I don't mind that it has an agenda (even if I don't entirely agree with it- but I still greatly appreciate that), but I think that type of discussion is more powerful than taking shortcuts to label the groups you disagree with. Please continue to challenge yourself to not engage in any brand of Newspeak (even one that you feel expresses your views).
Hearing, even thinking about FGM, it makes me nauseous. I get dizzy. That's just thinking about it. To endure it though......and that it's happening to tons of women everywhere everyday. Soul crushing.
Your guests have been awesome so far Dave, you haven't had a stupid or uninteresting person on yet. If you can keep this caliber of guests up this show could end up being huge.
I so rate this woman. I have been reading 'Infidel' over the weekend. Amazing story and has cleared up a few things I had assumed. For example I thought she had lost her Dutch citizenship as a result of vindictiveness by political rivals. Pleased she remains proudly Dutch. How many Ayaans are mute and downtrodden in Islam right now.
+catprincess9 She is the founder of AHA foundation that works to help domestic violence victims, female genital mutilation. Go reserach about her work. That makes her a women's rights advocate. If you research about her work, then you'll be enlightened. Don't ask others to do the work for you
+Melissa Reddy I know about her work. The fact that despite her double standards, people still hail her as a woman's rights advocate is what I do not understand. And that is why I am asking "others" for an explanation. Are you saying that I can be a child's right advocate in public and then be a pedophile in my private life? Shouldn't you practice what you preach? Why are you worshiping her blindly?
+Melissa Reddy So you are attacking me personally rather than attacking my argument. That is a sign of your own moral bankruptcy. And also a sign that you have accepted defeat. My argument still stands strong!
catprincess9 Lol you made no argument. And nice, liking your own comment. I don't for a second believe you know about her work or thoroughly researched about her. Anyway, I don't do internet arguments. Have a great day! I hope you get enlightened someday since you want to be enlightened so much.
dave, i know it's natural to network with guests, but going from sam harris to majid nawaz to ayaan hirsi ali? they are interesting people with something to say, but mix it up.
i know this would be unlikely, but try to get the new archbishop of chicago, blase cupich (soup-pitch). he's progressive, hand picked by the pope against the advice of the US bishops because he thinks like francis. he represents where the pope want to move the US catholic church. all that bickering about the route of the chicago pride parade... we'll never hear that again with cupich in chicago. he doesn't want anything to do with the culture war. he's newsworthy because he was just at that 2-week conference in rome where they were debating abandoning the "intrinsic disorder" language in regard to gay people and ending the ban on divorced people receiving communion. he's a smart, calm, engaging guy.
THEUPSTAIRS100 I have done more for gay rights and for feminism than you have ever done. But thanks for taking a brake from "pwnin nuubs on xbox" to contribute with a comment which you have no idea about.
This woman is a gift to all of humanity.
Her book is an education to help understand the news of today, and see beneath all the hype. Highly recommended.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a *_true_* feminist.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is incredible; really an overlooked voice with a lot of important things to say
+celticp2000 I remember she said something like "Netanyahu should win the Nobel Peace Prize" on Huckabee. Yeesh.
Feminists, take note.
***** a real feminist. A feminist that fights for women where they are actually oppressed. Women in America are not oppressed at all.
+UA-cam Aneesh Bro, you're a straight white male, haven't you learned that your opinion doesn't matter..... wait unless you agree with the social justice warriors, then you're hero.
+UA-cam Aneesh They're too busy typing away on Tumblr about how "oppressed" they are inside their warm cozy suburban home while sipping their lattes.
+justin bartelen at best he'll be an "ally"
***** examples?
I'm a libertarian and even though I don't agree with you on many things I have massive respect for what you are doing. The Regressives have got ridiculous and you are leading the charge to restore common sense. Thank you.
+Cody Leonard I doubt Dave is particularly critical of the welfare state.
+Cody Leonard On economic issues.
+KingKenna The regressive is essentially the left's Tea Party.
JohnDoeSchmoe yeah i been to JW. its scary and backwards
Ayaan Hirsi Ali...Beautiful brave wonderful woman! Bless!
This lady is amazing. Brave, beautiful and intelligent. To come from where she came from and to go through what she did, amazing story. She kicks ass.
Dave Rubin is Big League quality now. Bravo Man! Love your work.
+thenoeggplantzone Wow, I usually never read comments but just went down yours and found an intelligent viewership, generous comments and no trolls. Let's hope it stays that way for you!
+thenoeggplantzone *Crosses fingers.*
+The Rubin Report Don't worry Rubin, with these kind of fox news tactics the sky is the limit!
things you omited (on purpose?)
"In Niger, for example, 55 percent of Christian women and girls have experienced FGM, compared with two percent of their Muslim counterparts"
source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female_genital_mutilation#Religion
It is a cultural phenominan in Africa, but you know that does not fit your narrative, the hate the enemies of Israel narrative, did you forget you are an American aswell?
What a smart and brave woman.
Thanks Dave for the amazing interview.
This lady is not only smart but she is Amazing!!! I have so much respect for her , after your show Mr. Rubin. I love your show.
As Christopher Hitchens said,' The three most beautiful three words in the world,
Ayaan Hirsi Ali '
This interview made me cry. Thank you, Dave Rubin and Ayaan Hirsi Ali. You two are marvelous people for trying to be as intellectually honest and open as possible.
Love Ayaan Hirsi Ali. One of the few REAL Feminists left.
Thank you Ayaan. Your perceptions are brilliant and enlightning
Most 'Christians' practice circumcision ?
Colin Patterson yes
Geoff Ozzy Say who ?
Beautiful woman with a beautiful heart.
***** You said that because you are a biased Islamist.
Yeah she has lied and only muslims know the truth always, there's nothing like Taqiyya or Tawriya in islam !
David Hynes u found her beautiful coz you have a beautiful heart that's how it is....
Ayaan is awesome. A person with honesty and integrity.
What the fuck? It got rushed over but Ayaan summed up the issue on the left with such perfection it hurts: "Here's the irony I think... it used to be the left that would take up the defense of the weak and now unfortunately we live in a time when it is the left that has decided to define weak units as groups, not individuals"
It has always been the left
United Nations was originally supposed to be what Ayaan is presenting now.
Somebody sold out.
i am from India, and do not have anything to do with America, but i love your political shows, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart etc, and all of them have helped me grow and understand the world to some extent, but i have to say Dave Rubin is the first person , who through his interviews has gotten me to question my own world views, i love your work..i love all the interviews you have done so far, keep up the good work man ...... your work makes me better more intelligent and more capable ........
I wish she stayed in the Netherlands and became prime minister :/
agirl hasnoname
Thank the Left for that
did she? Can you shed some light on the subject I honestly have no idea what you are talking about.
João Fardilha
She said she was 2 years older or younger I think. technically not allowed but I don't think it's a good reason to kick out somebody like Ayaan.
it might be helpful to understand the whole story... before entering into her government position, she made it known what had occured regarding the name issue.... and technically, she qualified as a refugee and was instructed by her interviewee in the Netherlands how to respond correctly, in essence, in order to ensure that she could gain entrance and protection into the country under that status.... she did eventually become a citizen and was forthcoming about the whole name thing.... she actually was fearful about her family finding her at first and I think that is why she wanted to use a different name.... of course, this is how she spelled it out in her book "Infidel" and has stuck to the story since then.... anyways, it was her expectation to have been forced to do something she did not want to do and would likely have been beaten... although, after some time, a group of Muslim men associated with her father eventually came to the Netherlands to question her about what she'd done and were quite tame... but, had she been in a Muslim country, she would have highly likely been without the protections the West offers to women who are forced and beaten into submission to the will of men... but, really, the important thing is that she was forthcoming about the name situation and was an exemplary addition to the nation of the Netherlands... but, of course none of that matters, that would just be logical... meanwhile, Morroccan immigrant men are traffiking women into the Netherlands and pimping them out.... but, whatever.
Netherlands did well to kick her out. Hail Netherlands.
I would rather be here than TYT anyday. Dave doesn't have to do apologizing for anything. The truth is king.
she is a breath of fresh air
Can't believe I missed this one. She's an amazing woman. Great talk!
"Whoah, but Christians have done bad things too!"
Yeah, and fuck both religions.
SO. FUCKING. WHAT.
+Chris Whinery - "The point those people forget is that while Christians did that stuff in the past, they didn't do it in the past week."
Exactly!
But it's a very peculiar kind of tolerance that says: "All religions are equally contemptible and harmful."
There's this clear desire to not single any group out, perhaps for fear of seeming racist or biased against certain cultures, but the end result is basically saying: all of you are equally terrible and deserving of condemnation.
I think the best moment in that debate was when cenk started to criticize sam for being ignorant to the middle east.
he simply said "you do know first book ever written was about Christianity? right ?"
pretty much a nutshell as to what you were saying here. lol. people tend to forget exactly what his first book was about.
this deserves more views- she is an awesome woman
What a courageous lady. Keep up the fight! We are with you!
Honestly I,as an american,I would love to have Ayaan Hirsi Ali as president of America.
I love this woman with all my heart. Very inspirational. Ayaan you are a blessing on this earth, incredible.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a courageous Freedom Fighter who deserves our support and respect. Shame on those who try to silence her because she speaks against extremist Islam.
She is a hero. True hero! And she is beautiful also. :)
To me, Ayaan is a Goddess...200% support to you from India.
Nicely done Dave. I was waiting patiently for this one. Thanks man.
Dave Rubin is terrific. The more I watch his show, the more I like him. I think he's doing a wonderful job.
Needless to say, I love Ayaan too.
She looks really good for 46.
She is also very smart.
I am grateful to live at a time in history where her story can finaly be heard. Her courage is inspirational. The embodiment of peace, love, and hope. This is a true human being.
Ali 2020, I would vote for once.
My god. How can a human being go through such horror and still be rational? Still be reasonable?
It's too much to take in, to absorb and think about.
She is incredible.
Dave this interview only shows how much you have progressed thus far, and it is bloody beautiful what you have done.
Ayaan Hirsi. The most most beautiful and brave woman on the planet. A true ‘feminist’ who is risking her life in an attempt to ensure no woman endures the horrific mistreatment that she has lived through. I am a middle aged white male from Australia and if my two daughters grow up to have half the strength of Ayaan, then I will die a happy man.
i LOVE this woman, very brave, very intelligent, and i have her book.
This woman is my hero. Strong, standing up for truth, SMART, etc.
Ayaan = Hero.
One of the few true heroes in today's political landscape. Thank You Ayaan.
Two of my favorite people.
Ayaan, you are a true hero and Australia and most Australian's missed you and your voice of reason when you didn't come out here recently. We are lucky to have individuals of courage like you.
Holy shit man ! I don't know whats happened to TYT, they went super down hill but at least you have some integrity !!!!
Great interview Mr Rubin. Ayaan, what a Great lady. Keep fighting, we need people like you, democracy and people that love democracy need you. You're simply amazing.
Ayaan, ,,,,,,,,,,,,, you are a role model for many more to come . i really hope you success in your mission,
I haven't had much of a chance to hear her speak before.
Great interview with a fantastic human rights warrior.
Mr. Dave, keep these interviews coming. I'm loving them. My ultimate gratitude goes to you.
You're killin' it with your guest choices. Keep it up!
She is a cool lady sharing her thoughts and experiences, thanks for being so bold and bringing your thoughts into the public domain, most people don't have that kind of courage. Respect.
What a beautiful human being, you can see it in her face.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali, is such a brave soul...
Ayaan is a real inspiration. A hero's hero.
+WayToTheGrave "The problem is that the process of reform always comes back to the real possibility that it might not be possible without violence committed by an arbitrary party"
Violence is not a possibility, it's a necessity. Power, by it's nature, doesn't just hand over the keys and walk away.
Ayaan Hirsi is one of the bravest muslim woman in the world.Keep fighting the good fight because you are an inspiration to us all, both men and women.
GREAT TO SEE AYAAN'S SMILING FACE!
+Daniel Adam You are a disgusting troll. I will personally make it my mission to deride you on all further posts.
A beautiful lady. She’s an inspiration for me, but mostly for women all over the world.
Ayaan is brilliant
David Rubin. You were amazing. Clear thoughts, great choice of guests, simple natural flow. Great service to humanity. Wish we have more courageous people like you and Ayaan
Dave, sadly she's living proof of something else, and that is for those brave women (and men) who challenge Islam's all encompassing authority...and breaks free, their freedom comes with fear of retribution (honor killings, stonings, beheadings), need for protection around the clock (body guards, panic rooms, etc). And you know what, Yes freedom, even freedom in those confines is worth it.
Ayan Hirsi Ali we are proud of you ❤ ... I am an Ex-Muslim from Pakistan and now an atheist... Love You Ayan for you bravery
An amazing woman - wonderful on every level.
This woman is the real deal, a real representative of the real counter culture.
Thank you for this interview!
Thank you for this interview. Ayaan is a real inspiration!!
Bloody good on ya mate she's a good egg
Quality interviewer, quality guest - brilliant result. What a pity it's "only" a YT channel and not mainstream television. - view figures today only 38k - deserves so much more exposure.
She's one of the few reason why I haven't checkout and give up on humanity as a whole.
dffykvn direct quotation from her interview with Sam Harris "it goes without saying that I was horrified by his actions. He is one of the worst mass murderers in history, and there’s no question about that."
+dffykvn sure and I am guessing that you are one of those people who can read minds.
sorry I only deal with verifiable information.
dffykvn well yes anything else that can't be proven by science or verified from a trusted source should not be taken in face value.
Just like your "information" has little to no value to me.
dffykvn I am taking it face value because its coming from a verifiable source (the person herself)
And I have yet to receive the evidence of this "defence" from you, hence why I am not taking you seriously.
Truly an amazing woman/human being. When you dig long enough you will discover a diamond in the dirt. Don't stop the fight Ayaan👌
Ayaan Hirsi Ali is the Joan of Arc of the 21st century, and watching her come together with Majid Nawaaz is like DC and Marvel uniting to put the smack down on the ideals of Islam, SJWs and the Regressive Left! Ayaan and Majid FTW
Ayann Hirsi she is doing a great job revealing about Islam.
Best politician we've had here in the Netherlands!
Your guests have been awesome so far Dave, you haven't had a stupid or uninteresting person on yet. If you can keep this caliber of guests up this show could end up being huge.
OMG thank you so much for having her on the show - this woman is my hero :D
Amazing.
Dave, when are you running for president? Love the conversations you're having. The timing couldn't be better for the ideas you are bringing to light.
Aayan Hirsi is a living superwoman!
A TRUE LIBERAL
Dave is a TRUE classical liberal
She is a home wrecker. . How does that make her a women's rights advocate? I am confused. Somebody please enlighten me!
Why are you worshiping her blindly?
catprincess9 I don't believe you know about her work. So, stop lying!
Brave woman and someone to be admired!
aayan hirsi ali is great, dave rubin just get out of the way
Ayaan Hirsi Hli, is an inspirational woman, shame on the Liberals for not supporting her.
You are what tyt should have been
Such a brave inspirational woman.
dave, i know it's natural to network with guests, but going from sam harris to majid nawaz to ayaan hirsi ali? they are interesting people with something to say, but mix it up.
I had two Republicans, Michael Steele and Milo on between them!
i know this would be unlikely, but try to get the new archbishop of chicago, blase cupich (soup-pitch). he's progressive, hand picked by the pope against the advice of the US bishops because he thinks like francis. he represents where the pope want to move the US catholic church. all that bickering about the route of the chicago pride parade... we'll never hear that again with cupich in chicago. he doesn't want anything to do with the culture war. he's newsworthy because he was just at that 2-week conference in rome where they were debating abandoning the "intrinsic disorder" language in regard to gay people and ending the ban on divorced people receiving communion. he's a smart, calm, engaging guy.
+Matt N spot the common denominator....
I laugh a Rubins thinly veiled attempt at bringing us actual journalism and not personal bias.
fuck this shit
+UA-camr The religion of peaces is well represented by you. What do you hate more, the assertive woman or the gay guy interviewing her?
THEUPSTAIRS100 I have done more for gay rights and for feminism than you have ever done. But thanks for taking a brake from "pwnin nuubs on xbox" to contribute with a comment which you have no idea about.
Bravo Ayaan! What a gutsy woman you are. Salute to you.
