As an ambitious Year 12 should I just start pre-learning the content at this stage

How many hours should you put into studying for each part, 1 and 2 of the TMUA ?

Good question. The optimal time to begin preparing is in the summer holiday between Y12 and Y13, and in general, the earlier the better! If a student is serious about their exams, 10 hours per week starting from the summer holidays offers the best start.
In terms of how you split that time per week varies on the student. Those from Computer Science backgrounds might find paper 2 easier than paper 1 whilst Economics/Mathematics students who don't study Computer Science might find paper 1 easier. It's best to work out by looking at the syllabuses what their strengths and weaknesses are across both papers and cater to them early to best know how to regulate their time early.
As for right now, they should be spending equal amounts of time on both exams, mainly focusing on doing past exam papers and covering exam strategies for both Papers 1 and 2. :-)
      Hope this helps

Hello! Yes they do, here is some information from Pearson:
"Durham University, the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the University of Warwick have joined Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge in incorporating the Test of Mathematics for University Admission (TMUA) into their selection process for 2025 entry.
These world-class, research-intensive institutions will use the TMUA for selection to a number of Mathematics and Statistics based courses, as well as some in Economics, Computer and Data Science. "
      Hope this helps!
