Reminder that this is like 200 years in the future and the world did kind of get to the edge of Mad Max levels of anarchy when people started shooting lasers from their eyes and sweating nitroglycerin. Probably a lot of old works disappeared in the chaos.

Fun fact: La Brava birthday is February 14 aka Valentine's days! And she is 21 years old! Believe or it this caused some debate for her characters design, certain fans thought she was younger even me who initially anime only watching for the show. But thankful manga fans cleared up her age and it's all good

The same way La Brava looks younger than she really is, Gentle also doesn't appear his actual age, considering he is 32.
her height makes her look really young, though it is sorta like how Mineta is significantly smaller than everyone else in his class despite being in the same year.
@@camil3545 Yeah, Mineta's height is really misleading when it comes to his age. But if you think that Mineta's small body is the most shocking, then what about Shoji? He is 6' 2'' tall (the tallest of his class) and yet he is the youngest out of his class.
@@rafaelmatos5851 yeah, i was originally going to compare Mineta to Shoji in my comment, but because he is a heteromorph, i wasn't sure if someone might try to say his height may have been a side-effect of his mutation, so just opted to say the class in general.
One thing to keep in mind about Nezu's decision to keep going forward on the festival: UA is a school. It's purpose is to educate and inspire and what sort of message does that send to the students if they cancel? They cannot be safe on their own home ground? That they're afraid of villains and that everyone (general, support, and business included) should bow down to them? Even when the threat isn't clear and present? The lesson that would teach the students...
Don't get me wrong, there are a LOT of questions we can ask about their methods and how well they're doing that at times. UA deserves it's fair share of criticism for some of their actions and policies, not to mention the track record so far this year. But given what's known at the time... I think I actually have to give this one to Nezu.
I know this arc isn't that popular, but i really like it. I also really enjoy Gentle
It doesn't matter how good or popular an arc in MHA is. Every arc is important... even this one.
Gentile and La Brava just make me giggle so much. They're so goofy, especially with their dub voices. And their quirky little ost adds to the vibe too

Emphasis on the part where she sought him out to *help* him and he reciprocated/appreciated all her feelings. (Because hacking someone's account to get their address and then pulling up to the front door is heinous)
The Eri situation definetly highlights the problem with Gentle. He really could destroy her recovery just because he wants those clicks

The one for all that All Might got was much weaker than the one Deku got.
Yeah... One For All gets stronger the more it is cultivated. All Might was its holder for 4 decades, so, when he passed it to Izuku, it was much more powerful than when Nana passed it to him. That's why All Might was almost immediately able to use it at full power, since OFA was much weaker when it received it and his body was stronger than Izuku's.

He subs I saw when it first came out said "I can't wait to see what you look like in 10 years" so either the translator was trolling or you're wrong, either way yours is a far better line

No they absoutely needed to keep the festival going because these are still kids at the end of the day and they ALL need a break from everything that's happened not just the hero trainee's. It's also really important for Eri's mental health as you will see in a few episodes. Just because Gentle thinks he's doing the right thing does'nt make him right he is still a villian and he's still willing to cause unnecessary stress for his own ego.

Ok. Practice for the show! Always lots to see there. Mina has to teach Deku who is not understanding that locks are not rigid. You know we need an example. Hey look Iida is doing it right! He’s in perfect position!…as a perfect model for a pedestrian sign. Emergency exit Iida strikes again to his natural roots. I’m going to assume Mina already gave up on Iida being “flexible.” Which is a word that doesn’t exist in Iida’s vocabulary. (Iida you should be ready to get your surgery my man, you’ve become a hero now go get your arms fixed.) Aaaaand Mirio is realizing how hard it is to pull his permeation stunts without permeation. But he always finds ways to only stick out one body part for the comfort of others discomfort.
Eri is at UA with Nezu’s permission easing her into society again. (I just found Nezu in the opening song getting used as a teddy bear by the kids from the provisional license training class, and I’ve also found Aizawa with a sweater I can only describe as something Nejire made or something Eri made for him. And I’m going to guess both.) I’m choosing to give Mineta the benefit of the doubt since in dub it ACTUALLY seems like he’s trying to compliment Eri and I’ve heard similar compliments to young’uns. (Sub it’s probably everything you want to assume it isn’t.) And I’m going to ASSUME that’s why the rest of the class doesn’t yeet him for not being very successful. We’ve also moved up from being All-Might’s secret love child accusation to actually HAVING a secret love child. Ojiro knows Deku has WAY too many people showing interest in him/harassing him. And apparently Mirio has the same situation in his class. Class 3-A is freaking out a bit more.
(The crimson chin needs a bigger angel statue as they walk through the fairgrounds getting prepped. Also less chest more chin. Despite it being almost if not actually double the size of the people carrying it)
Class B is back! Monoma can’t even allow the mundane be out of a competition with Class A. And he wants to insure that EVERYONE knows how superior Class B is with their original script of “Romeo, Juliet, and the Prisoner of Azkaban: The Return of the Kings.” Which is just a script I can only describe what happens if you stuff 3 scripts in a blender and then retranslate it 10 times and then say IT’S A MASTERPIECE. Or maybe this is a if you have enough monkeys at a typewriter, sooner or later they will be able to perfectly type the complete work of William Shakespeare on accident kind of situation. And this just so happens to be one of the accidental rough drafts. And weird coincidence on a separate project I was working on, I came across a pair of characters that are Denzel Crocker as a literature buff and a man accused of eating soap to poison himself in the 1800s that decided to, and I quote, “Got in a spirited debate on who among Romeo or Juliet was stronger” complete with costumes acting it out with a spy trying to look through the window, and Juliet being the “champion” because OF COURSE Juliet knows the art of jiu-jitsu. Ending off with a full tackle. Which…is weird I’ve come across the story of Romeo and Juliet getting thrown into such ridiculous circumstances twice in such close proximity. Now you’re going to tell me there’s a lion love story based around both Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet complete with a Meerkat and a Warthog doing a Hawaiian dance to convince Hyenas to chase them and a Baboon being a full master of fighting with a bakora staff. What kind of billionaire company would make THAT happen? (I suddenly feel bad for Shakespeare.) Well at least Monoma is aware enough to always be prepared to leave a dying message in blood for being an absolute pain to both classes. Because the rest of Class B seems over their beef with Class A after the camp attack. (Probably because they got to see 1st hand Class A getting targeted when they acted as serious as the heroes did at the camp attack. They now know they’re just like the rest of them and aren’t full of themselves either.)
Mirio straight up pretends Deku would want to enroll in the beauty pageant. But Deku is such a gentleman for how he gave Nejire his support for the beauty pageant. And the fact Amajiki is helping out Nejire pretty actively is so sweet while he gets a panic attack just thinking about being on stage. (As he works to be a valedictorian for a job that is actively a stage show in many capacities) There’s a thought that her friend who entered her in has a crush on her or they might even be a couple. Probably one of the most background ships in this show that if accurate gets…20 seconds of screen time in a likely 8 season show? Kendo and Tetsu get more time and I REALLY have to be looking for Class B developments.
Shinso is breaking support beams in half with his bare hands for a handmade stage and he’s got a fan watching him. I think that’s even the same girl that was cheering for him as the Star of the Class 1-C general studies after Deku broke out of his brainwashing. (Still no sign of explanation on that moment and All-Might is STILL HIDING FACTS ABOUT IT. He completely avoided that conversation BOTH times it was relevant in season 2 after the Shinso fight AND when All-Might explained AFO with his unknown history knowledge that’s been ERASED for a century.) Shinso has quietly been training A LOT now. He might still be shuffled in the mix of the 40 hero kids.
Mei Hatsume has created her new mech! I’m going to assume this is the upgrade to the one she stuffed Deku in when we last saw her. (It almost broke his spine combined with his leftover All-Might buttprint damage.) It’s moved up to just overheating problems and short-circuits! And I think it’s actually recent enough for this squirrel brain to recognize Deku at this point. (Good thing Uraraka wasn’t here. She probably would’ve stopped the 3 of them from seeing her. Hatsume was NOT kind to her and she almost had to go full defense for Deku and Iida last time. Deku even turns away EVERYTIME she moves suddenly because LAST time that happened he got an experience I’m sure he would’ve preferred not to have) And he even gets to request new gear from her! An air blaster! And All-Might even reveals he too used that as golden armor he kept breaking at HIS 20-30% power. And my question was WHICH SPECTRUM?! PRIME?! That’s capable of handling THOUSANDS of times or more for the strength?! (Deku is at Mach 1.2 to Prime All-Might’s Mach 1800) That HAS to be Dave Shield’s work and why he has such good analytical readings on All-Might’s energy levels in the 1st movie. He DID know about the power drop.
Staring at Nezu in literal villain shrouded lighting when he’s eating near Eri. Having improved security with Hound Dog “off his leash.” And the new improved security measures for the barrier as well. But wait a minute! How are people going to see their guidance counselor with Hound Dog out and about?! He needs to reduce these kids stress with words of wisdom how to progress! (This is probably the MOST relaxed they’ve been for those unlucky enough to have him.)
Deku got fired from the dance team BEFORE IIDA. I don’t know why they chose Deku precisely for special effects, but my guess is he’s the strongest while being quirkless. Kirishima can be too sharp while hardened to hold ropes with an armor suited guy suspended and Koda…I guess despite being among the tallest members of the class, isn’t all that physically strong. At least in comparison to Deku. Deku must’ve been the 1st one to come to mind since he did nearly everything in the Sports Fest WITHOUT A QUIRK. Also good to see Kirishima despite being best buds with Bakugo doesn’t let that damper down on his relationship with Deku.
Deku learning about All-Might’s armor and then frantically searching for it with Uraraka finding him staring down his phone in ANY OTHER CONTEXT looks like something VERY different.
And we end off on Gentle Criminal’s impenetrable CRIMINAL FOLDER. They literally make a day spent trying to break into UA being how would you spend a whole day with grandpa. Including strolls in the park, tea times, and…actually predicting the correct hero to concern over. And with La Brava, it MIGHT be possible to deactivate UA barrier. (And mind you, this is the UPGRADE.) And with the true stakes of his mustache on the line? Only the TRULY motivated could stop him. What will we do against Gentle Criminal. We can only speculate if everyone will be safe.

I am so glad you share the same view on Mineta's statement in this episode. In the manga and sub? HECK NO. Too far, Horikoshi.
But in the dub, the casual and nonchalant way he says what he says makes me think that, in his obviously socially-stunted mind, that was a compliment. He didn't say it suggestively or anything, so while I get the hate Mineta gets in this episode, I think that it's not as bad when you really stop to think about it.

@@HaydrogenBomb I had more thorough analyzing for that but chose to leave it out because I didn’t want to run out of space analyzing the ins and outs of that scene. I looked at his patterns and everyone else’s and compared when they act and when they don’t and how they communicate, and I also had to…sighhhh sit through every pervy moment of Mineta to find a pattern to compare to. No drooling, no eyeing her up, none of that. Yes the bar is on the FLOOR, but to just say it simply, the reason this scene is REALLY hated more than anything else is the concept. NO ONE asked for a scene where the most hormonal awkward and creepy kid interacted with the 6-year old that people would die to protect with what she’s already been through. And I’ve gotten genuine threats for TRYING to give Mineta ANY benefit of the doubt in the past.
I am with everyone else in no I did NOT ask for such a scene, but I WILL say what was being ATTEMPTED through the hate anyways.
@Kaempfdog I think you're right. Having one the the most hateable characters in the same proximity as one ofbthe most beloved, especially if you include the context, is bound to tick people off.
If I were writing this scene and HAD to include this interaction, I would just have Mineta say something like, "Nice to have a visitor my own height", or something like that.
- From what I've heard, Eri's cat sweater in the opening is actually something Aizawa got for her.
- I got a kicker out of that Lion King 2 reference. 😅
- I'm of the same mind about Nejire and her red-headed classmate (I think her name was Yuyu?). They might not be together, but Yuyu was DEFINITELY blushing when Nejire came to her side. 🤨
- I think you're right about David Shield being the designer behind All Might's support item. That's probably where Melissa got the specs or inspiration for Full Gauntlet.
- I still don't see why it HAD to be Deku that got "fired" so Aoyama could be held up along the ceiling. Like, what about Sato? Sure, his Quirk has a cool down, but given how he's naturally well-built, I don't see why he wouldn't be able to hold up a string bean like Aoyama throughout the performance.
Isn't the idea for Midoriya to use his quirk to lift Aoyama?

Hey, Offnote Question: How come so many UA-camrs have some Kind of Anxiety? Is this the same Thing like when Anxiety Kids go to Theater?
A school play that borrows story elements from several different works, written by a guy who can copy several different quirks; yeah that makes sense.
Still don’t understand why they picked Deku instead of just having Uraka float him sense she can turn off his gravity before the show and be perfectly fine.

I love Gentle's quirk and personality, but I hate how his selfish self-centered motivation is portrayed as sympathetic or even slightly noble. He's just a narcissist making excuses for his bad actions. If they aknowledged that, I'd be fine with it. But they play him as heroic in his own way. Also, Labrava's design makes her look way too young for him, and makes me really uncomfortable.

Mineta's comment to Eri ensured I will never tolerate him in any capacity. I really disliked him before and would have only started to tolerate him if he had apologized to all the girls and never did anything creepy again, but being a weirdo to Eri just put the final nail in the coffin for me. I know that the line is slightly different in the manga but I still can't see Mineta saying "I hope you'll look up to me in ten years" as anything but creepy. That coming from literally *anyone else* would be fine, but it coming from him is just screaming red alert.
