      You apparently have no clue how the retirement age in America works. It's not a forced retirement at 65. That's just the age at which you can start withdrawing social security. You can keep working as long as you want. And as much of a strain as social security is under, it would actually be terrible if everyone was forced to retire at 65. There's no way we could afford that. So the retiring age does apply to them, you just don't know how it works.

    Term. Limits. For. Senators. That and either removing the senate or making it population based since it is, and has always been, ridiculous that your vote inherently matters less than someone in a state with a lower population. Anti-democracy when it was written, still anti-democracy now.

      Term limits for both the house and senate. No more than 2 full senate terms, and no more than 5 full house terms. Or age limited to 68 for all political offices (75 for the Supreme Court, with 19 year terms). I'd pay more salary for house and senate on the following four conditions: term limits in place, no lifetime pensions (only retirement contributions for the years you serve), HUGE restrictions on lobbying cash/benefits, and limits on campaigning and fundraising time (no more than 8 hours per month fundraising), and 60 days incumbent/90 days challenger for the house, and 120 days incumbent/180 days for the challenger for a senate seat. Likewise, presidential elections should start no sooner than 1 year prior to election day. The incumbent gets 180 days (240 if primaried), and the challengers get 360 which includes ALL primaries and nominations.

    I do agree with age limits. I worked in elderly for five years, and I have seen residents decline from a seemingly sharp mind to debilitating dementia in just a handful of short months. Its not only a matter of generational representation, but a matter of national security. What if a lapse in memory happens in a volatile moment, such as a conflict? A friend of mine argued this may have been an illusively big factor in Vlady Poos invasion of Ukraine, leading to hundreds of thousands dead, vast destruction, and shambled geopolitical relations. Politics being a stress inducing job doesnt help either. Would i want to do thst when i am in my late 70s early 80s? Feck no!

      Sadly we live in an ageist society which is obvious from many of the comments written under this video. Being a good leader takes maturity, experience, a good understanding of history and wisdom. A younger President would be great if that person is an old soul with great ideas for dealing with the people who want to undermine our Democracy. It takes time to learn how to negotiate with the other party and how to form beneficial international alliances. When we vote for inexperienced people because they have looks and charisma, we often end up in hot water. A mix of different ages would be good.

Yes there’s a lot of older people here but they have seen a lot they have learned a lot they have experienced a lot I’ve not heard what have you guys talk about the past what did you learn in school probably nothing because everybody seems to be tearing down statues taking things out of Books because all they were bad things happening years ago so but you’re all the first want to run back to the constitution The constitution is 276 years old I do not believe all those old people that you keep pounding on with the constitution would even begin to agree with anything you are talking about specially when it comes to your rights women didn’t have rights then men carry rifles

    The problem is the government is a representative democracy we vote on someone in the hopes that they will vote on someone that they hope will vote for ideas that they believe in we as United States citizens do not have a direct impact on voting for congress and presidential candidates. If the United States had a true democracy there would be no electoral college and no blue/red states. The fact that there is and for over 100 years has been an exclusively bi-partpresidential candidate elected. I was asked to fill out a form for my city and I was forced to select one of about 5 political parties with no option to chose no affiliation and was forced to either lie or not participate in something that directly would affect my day to day life so I had to chose one at random then pick weakly affiliated. Teachers are forced to retire even though they are still doing a job. Surgeons and doctors are forced to retire when they start making mistakes. When you are past retirement age, you are subject to a cognitive decline, and physical. Just because they are living longer doesn't mean they should be in a place that they can do damage to many people. Also ones that are over retirement age are there for the money. They get paid more than a regular public servant. For instance they make way more than teachers, also anyone health and human services. And they come from money they don't know about the working poor. There are many more people that are working 2 to 3 jobs just to pay rent and get food on the table. These are a lot of people that are one check away from being homeless.

    I believe age sometimes is good in politics, but I agree that age can be good & bad. When the young 28yr old congresswoman was talking about womens period I’d believe that anyone over 60 wanted to get up & leave the floor. We all know the older ones SOMETIMES think it’s my way because I’ve been here 25yrs. But the pyramid needs to be build on age & listening to the younger ones if they’re there for the right reasons. The age for President is 35yrs old but I think there should also a age cutoff like maybe 70 because if this were the age cutoff that person could be 78 when they left office. I agree with the 2 term issue because we don’t want them to think O if I stay for another I could end being here for 4th/5th term. As we can see right now anyone that is willing to want to take over the elections by force is working on being a dictator. The United States doesn’t need a Putin. A lot of ifs & or butts but the age limits should be looked into for the betterment of the United States government.

    First it takes a long time to make someone skilled enough to be in federal elected positions or state executive positions. There is no degree in politics. There is no course for learning to write a law. Just to get a fairly competent person to be in federal office takes about 10 years. They start on a school board or local level administrative/political position; where they learn to deal with and implement government regulations. They then move up to town or city council or mayor. In this position they will learn how to deliver services and work with constituents. Then they are ready for state legislative level. This is where they learn to write laws. The difference between may and shall is huge. And finally, they might be ready for the Senate, House, or state executive level. All these rich people who jump over these important training levels do a disservice. They go to political action committees to get short cuts on writing laws only to have so many challenges that they are ridiculous. Or they write something so bad that there are a million hacks around it. And why do they stay so long, well, their constituents keep voting them back. If you need to blame anyone look at yourself. Everyone loves it when a Senator gets funding for their back yard. And the longer a person is on the Hill, the more likelihood is that they can get that money.

    I don't expect a bill that issues term limits to be passed any timne soon nor do I think there should. There alot lot of senators and representatives that I don't like but I don't think we should give all politicians term limits just because we have several bad ones. There are other ways to get rid of corrupt politicians with out forcing decent members of Congress face mandatory term limits.

    • @rainstriderstreamflower5645
      @rainstriderstreamflower5645 Рік тому

      If your dissatisfied with your senator or representative, you can vote them out in the next election. Or if you don't feel like waiting that long you can issue a recall election! Besides that's much easier than trying to convince congress to issue term limits. I don't actually care of a senator or a representative denies a term limit as long as they aren't corrupt. I actually like both my senator and my representative so I don't think they're being selfish if they want to avoid facing a term limit. I think the systems we have do rid our serves of our senators and representatives are fair enough.
