I half agree with Gavin and half agree with everyone else. Essentially they should have told him "be more specific" when he picked coffee knowing what else was about to be picked.

Definitely agree. You can't have the overarching category of coffee but also be able to pick different sodas. It's definitely the problem they had with the alpha bet.
The easy thing to do would've be to let him change his first pick to cappuccino. But Geoff always has to give the funny response and shut that down. (Though that's usually why I like him, it's no wonder he keeps getting divorced since he can't turn it off)
This rarely happens but I gotta agree with Gavin on the coffee picks.
If Gavin is right then why wouldn’t the next person just claim soda as their pick?
Especially when he says a PSL and coffee are the same thing. Not even close a PSL is primarily sugar and milk with caffeine added. Using caffeine as an additive does not make two drinks the same

I agree with Gavin, he explained what he meant by coffee. Also everyone saying coffee is a category isn't necessarily wrong, but comparing it to "soda" doesn't make sense (you don't put "soda" into a coke or pepsi). Coffee can be put into all other "coffee" drinks, even espresso is concentrated "coffee" so essentially it is included in every other coffee drink. Like the other comment said, an americano or latte is basically vanilla coke based off coke.
you mix syrup into soda water to make any type of soda. that's why its called soda.

I also agree with Gavin but to be fair if you asked someone “are you drinking soda?” Whether it was coke, Pepsi, mountain dew or whatever the answer is still yes. You don’t have to put something into something else to make it a category.

For anyone who doesn't know, "route 44" is simply what Sonic calls their largest drink size
When they originally told that story way back on f**kface, he was telling it as "Gavin and I got Route 44's." So, yes, he absolutely does.

I can do half a glass of eggnog if it's just the carton of nog...if its mixed with bourbon or is the traditional 3 liquor aged eggnog then we've got a party going but this was the no booze drink draft so...
@@jasonhunter2819 If I didn't care about my weight, I would drink eggnog all day every day from the beginning to end of December. Much prefer the non-alcoholic kind. If I want that kind of booze, I just make myself some Irish Cream

Gavin is 100% right. Picking Americano after Coffee was picked is like picking Vanilla Coke after Coke was picked.
Wasn't gonna argue but they are different drinks and they are part of the pool, unoriginal maybe but an americano isn't coffee, both are prepared in different ways, like saying a taco and a burrito are the same because they use a tortilla
But him picking coffee is like if someone picked soda/soft drink (depending on your location), or juice. It’s a category, not a specific drink.

Fun fact: IBC was Independent Breweries Company, a coalition of small St. Louis breweries. Hence the "since 1919" on the root beer label -- they had to stop making actual beer in 1919 because Prohibition.
By definition things entered into this draft only refer to a specific beverage. Meaning, choosing water does not mean that no one else can choose soda because it is made mainly with water. Even if there is a lack of clarity on what exact beverage Gavin is referring to when he enters in “Coffee” it does not matter, as he is not claiming everything made with that material, he is only claiming the specific beverage itself. He does not claim everything made with that ingredient. This is a beverage draft, not an ingredient draft. For clarities sake though the specific beverage Gavin is referring to with his “Coffee” entry is a separate matter it would help the proceedings if he specified at the moment of entry what exactly he is referring to, for example drip coffee, espresso, latte, cold brew. This is not to say that his reasoning for his pick can’t be that he believes the beverage has merit because it is an ingredient in many other things, that is up to him to decide why he chose it, but this is to say that he cannot claim everything made with his beverage as an ingredient is under the jurisdiction of his choice, that is not only against the spirit of the draft but against the letter as well.

Hear me out, they should try seeing what drinks are enhanced by adding coffee to it. I don't imagine something like lemonade + coffee would be good, but we'll never know until they try 😂

I think I am just now learning that Americans refer to coffee different from me (A New Zealander), coffee is a category of drink, you can't just order a coffee, you have to order a type of coffee.

Shocked that water or some sort of juice was not chosen. Though I would go with Eric just me cause he has horchata, one of my favorite drinks.
Becoming a regulation commenter for this, because I care. I wonder if someone had picked milk and someone had picked semi-skimmed milk would that have stood. If someone said water and another person said spring water would that have been okay. I feel the coffee situation is the same as that.

My 4 picks:
1. Water. It’s the single most important drink in existence
2. Sprite. The superior lemon slime flavored soft drink
3. Vernor’s Ginger Ale, which functions as both a delicious and strong soft drink, and a great remedy for stomach aches. Other ginger ales are water by comparison
4. Apple cider. The superior fall drink, pumpkin spice thing is played out

My draft list would have been Arnold Palmer, Cherry Coke, Mountain Dew Voltage, and Cranberry Juice
Just as a fun little fact, Lilt was discontinued by coca cola, but the flavour was remade by Fanta, which is the pineapple and grapefruit flavour
More that it was rebranded and moved under the fanta family by coca cola who own it.

Starry/Sierra Mist is the worst of the lemon-lime sodas. 7Up is of course the best, Sprite is a distant second, and Pepsi's knockoff of Sprite is just vile, I've only had it twice: once on an airline that had a Pepsi contract for catering, and once when the name change tricked me into thinking it was new and maybe good.

AriZona Green Tea, Jones Cream Soda, Barqs Cream Soda, Georgia Peach Coca Cola. Like it or don't, this is the truly optimal list. Runners up include Fiji Water, Mountain Dew Whiteout, Sprite Cranberry, and Original Fresca.
Based on my personal tastes, Andrew has the best list. Gavin: 4.5, 2, 6, 10. Andrew: 10, 9, 7, 8.5. Nick: 4.5, 3, 7, 8. Eric: 2, 4, 6, 9. Goeff: 6, idk, 6, 8. Even if Vimto is a 10, Goeff can only be 2nd best.

I honestly hadn't heard of half the things on this list. I think coffee is a very strong opening choice and my personal favorite drink. With the variety of having bovril for those cold winter days AND some refreshing pop selections on his list, I gotta give it to Gavin. But I gotta say that Andrew is a VERY close second. His list is solid as heck. Four good drinks that I'd crack open any day.

I will argue for "Mexican Coke" because that is literally the coke in the majority of the world, ie : they glass bottle and use cane sugar instead of corn syrup for non-us consumption

Also, Lilt was just rebranded as a Fanta flavour here in the UK. The Lilt brand still died though

I think regulation coffee is drip coffee since that's what most "coffee makers" make. You could maybe argue Americano is regulation in a coffee shop setting but overall I think drip is more regulation.
I would have gone Mtn Dew Baha Blast, Caramel Macchiato, Mucho Mango Arizona, Lemon Arizona, Brisk Dragon Paradise (The sparkling tea exclusive to Taco Bell)
