Having recently had a bad experience with a bike/brand, it's an amazing breath of fresh air to jump on to something that you can immediately feel more comfortable on. Glad you made the switch. Enjoy the ride!
Well... I go away for a few days and you've swapped ya bike 😂 Watching the video I can say I think you've done right, once the confidence has been lost it's hard to turn it back around. Great video mate and thanks for sharing. Let the adventures continue 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Jay, just subscribed to your channel after watching many of your videos ,really enjoying your content, really enjoyed your last video on the new bike, looks mint and very clean and tidy, I follow a guy on UA-cam called Sgt sodom who owned a 1290 superduke R and he like you had so many issues and ended up giving back to the finance company after a lot of arguing with the dealership, he was so relieved to get rid of it, don't think UA-cam are doing them any favours, anyway enjoy your new bike and stay safe.
Thanks buddy for the sub it is very much appreciated. Yes the KTM was deffo taking the enjoyment away as constantly thinking what next. I have heard so many stories too on the mighty KTM forums not for me I’m afraid. Thanks for comment 👍🏻👍🏻
I was hoping Jay that you would be going back to Japanese, but the GS looks fantastic glad you're happy with it and looking forward to the Spain trip..👍
Thanks buddy I did really consider my choices but the GS ticks all the boxes and hoping as they are the best selling adventure bike that hopefully won’t have to many issues. 👍🏻👍🏻
Beautiful bike, can't go wrong with the BMW! On the original 'Long Way Round' with Ewan and Charlie , the BMW was incredible for them, will be amazing on your Spain trip. Great vid once again 👌🏼
Says a lot talking about the 'Long way round' that originally it was KTM which they approached, but when they realised what they were planning to do with the bikes KTM backed out and BMW step up and the rest is history 😏
Enjoyable video and have a great trip. Had a GS1250 as a loan bike for 2 days (was the black and yellow anniversary model) whilst I had my SA1290S. Easiest bike in the world to ride and can totally see why they are so popular - thought it looked fantastic too. But not as exciting (or tiring) as the KTM. However, couldn’t afford one (and wanted something smaller) when the KTM had to go for reliability issues (had the decals issue “they all do that, Sir” ) and 2nd hand market was awash with 2021 bikes last summer. Left the bike with the Ducati dealer 4 months before the new bike arrived I was so fed up. Have STR Rally’s on the Desert X - good on the road so far (off roading unlikely TBH).
Reliability is the key nothing worse then doing a tour and thinking at the back of your mind I hope nothing bad happens. Enjoy the GS and the videos are great
Lovely bike mate enjoy 👍you need reliability when touring. I watch your videos all the time it doesn’t matter what you ride like you say it’s your contents. We have all got one thing in common riding bikes and the adventure we have on them mate. Enjoy your trip with Richy 👍
Great bike mate I've got the same. There's alot more people riding BMWs so you might get a few more subscribers. You've just got one now lol. Can't wait to see how you get on with the trip to Spain.
Finally catching up on vids across the board mate 😁.. you know, as much as the ktm was a great bike apart from issues. Those rusty bolts etc i have same on the pan and yet same bolts on sporty not one bit 🤔. I think as a whole build quality and parts is suffering... I think the new bike is a stunner. Enjoy and see you soon mate 👌
Nice one Jay, you can't underestimate confidence as a thing with bikes. It is bad that you've had to loose money on a bike that should have been right but the GS looks lovely so hopefully that will provide many miles reliable biking for you.
I've been riding for over a year now and my first bike is a 2021 KTM 390 Duke that had 36 miles on it when i bought it. All I have had is issues from the start. The main issue been that it runs very lean and causues stalls at the worst times possible when going slow (filtering mainly). So I bought a piggyback ecu (Rapid bike evo), had a nightmare installing it just for it to cause another issue. Not going near any KTM's again.
Mate yes feel your pain all you want to do is ride the thing but you just spend your time wondering if it’s going to get you a to b. Hope you get something sorted. Thanks for comment buddy 👍🏻👍🏻
Congratulations on the GS. It should look after you in Spain. I went through a similar experience to you with a Multistrada 1200 about a decade ago. When you lose confidence in a bike, you lose the enjoyment. Cheers, take care, and have a brilliant time in Spain 🇪🇸
Thanks Richard I’ve also been there with a 1200 multi so this was like a reoccurring nightmare. I’m so ready for Spain need the break. Thanks for comments buddy take care 👍🏻👍🏻
Careful, My 1250 wasn’t perfect, had to change the key fob battery once in three years 😂. Great bike and i very nearly changed it for a super adventure, It was the depreciation that put me off initially but reliability ( lack of ) finished it
Looks mint mate , if you were not happy with the KTM you`ve deffo done the right thing , enjoy Jay lets hope you stay issue free , have a good one in Picos de Europa
I don’t blame you for changing the Ktm as you know I had one exactly the same as your one but the more black one I only done 1700 miles on it I never had any problems with it what so ever but it’s there’s always a thought in my head about reliability and got fed up of rattling and creaking noises on it like screen and plastics so I thought I’m gonna change so bought a triumph rocket 3gt new one 23plate chrome one but what you’ve done is exactly what I still might get next year is a new 1250 gs adv there’ll be some great deals out there end of this year but I’ll never sell the rocket it’s a bldy amazing bike the acceleration is mind boggling anyway hope you enjoy your bm and have lots of trouble free miles and enjoy your trip ride safe take care
Wow a rocket nice. Thanks buddy and yes once confidence goes and it’s backed up by many comments regarding bad experience’s it’s time to move it on. Thanks for comment much appreciated 👍🏻👍🏻
You habe made the right decision there mate. I have been tempted by the Orange machines so many times but fortunately my head over powered my heart on those occasions. Enjoy the BMW, just give it a good dose of ACF. Look forward to your Spain videos. 👍🏻
Personally I've nothing against BMW but I still feel they are over hyped and way over priced, at least new, but best of luck with that trip, and I understand losing faith in a bike, you need to know it will just do what it should 👍🏻
Great bike. People should be following you for your content not the bike really ,but having said that I’m a GSA owner so makes it a little more exciting 😂. Enjoy the trouble free biking 🤞😊
Would do the exactly same thing, I would hate to have a bike what you can't 100% rely on, as a bike is more of a luxury item for me I don't want any issues. Great video
It’s the luck of the draw as everything in life. I’m pleased that the swap has made you less stressed. I’ve owned a KTM Adventure since 2011, no KTM related issues whatsoever. Toured all over Europe and, with fastidious cleaning regime, it looks as good today as when I bought it (full transparency - the spokes have largely shed their chrome despite said regime). I have also owned a BMW GS that decayed before my very eyes despite the way I look after my bikes (OK, it was 2010 model so things may have changed). All that said, I would never buy a new KTM model, always wait a good while for gremlins to be ironed out. Hope you have all the luck in the world with your 1250, great colour scheme and also your upcoming tour. Stay safe.
Yes absolutely buddy some good some bad and yes maybe should have gone down the route of an older one as they are fantastic bikes. Thanks for comment and sharing your experiences very much appreciated 👍🏻👍🏻
It’s a great shame that a bike you want and love falls well below expectations. I’m one of the guys that have not had any major issues with either of my KTM bikes. At the end of the day I’d have done exactly what you did. I’ll stick around to watch your channel even though you’ve now gone to the dark side 😂. Enjoy your Spain trip.

Check it out innovate hex-gs911.
Done all the upgrades on my F750GS TE and so much better for it. I bet you are happy on this and no longer worried about the KTM causing you issues down the road.
Thanks buddy peaky biker bought one and said he will update my screen but may have to invest 👍🏻👍🏻
