Mr Sensible. "I'm going to change the belts and fluids before trying to start it, seeing as it's been stood 14 years"
The excitable enthusiast. "throw a battery on and let's see what happens" 😁
    I've always liked these.👌🏻
Next video, engine out so you can iceblast the engine bay... 🤣

They definitely was one of mine I've always loved em and the spec that Ricky's got here is the one too have, I remember back in the day tho these got quite a bad rep for being unreliable and hard to work on, so ppl used to scrap em early 2000s I remember seeing quite a few in the breakers, but they are so over cool with the targa

I had a 300zx tt 2+2 UK spec with full leather back in 2004, I rebuilt it with wiseco pistons, pe 850cc injectors forged rods and a gt28rs turbos kit from z1 in the states lots of other bits too she used get squirmy at just over 600hp. I've still got all my pics, including when I was building it back up with a brand new wiring harness. I still have the original hard copy of the workshop manual, too.

Had one of these in manual back in 2000. Fantastic cars.
Get the cambelt complete kit from Courtesy Nissan in Texas, they use to supply to the UK club.
GTR R33 4 pot brake fit the front with no mods. The GTR throttle flaps fit as well and are larger.
Quite a lot of people for some reason did a HICAS lockout.
By the way majority of 300ZX were T tops, slick tops are the rarer, and the rarest are the SWB Turbo (2 seater).

Back in the day those were always sold at 60,000 miles or less cos the service schedule says part of the 64,000 service is to fit two new turbos!!!!

I bought one of these new in 1993 a manual in black I think all the UK cars were targa tops as I recall the option list for the car was almost non existing . I had the car until 2001 and only covered 31000 in it I did enjoy the car and only sold it as it did not get much use. The values were not that good when I sold it but have increased in the last few years. A very rewarding car to drive you will enjoy it.

In case you don’t know, that’s a U.K. market car and not an import. They’re getting rarer now so if you can keep her mint she’ll be worth a premium. Get yourself on the UK owners club and we’ll help you out as much as we can. Owned my Z since 2004 and will never sell it. Gimme a shout if you need any help with her, happy to offer any advice FOC. Good luck

Those pipes in the boot are brake lines.
The ABS unit is under the trim over the drivers rear arch.
The HICAS on a 1990 is hydrolic. There's a ram at the back and two lines run under the car on the passenger side to a unit in front of the power steering reservoir.
The rams like to seize up, so you can get a delete kit which is a solid bar that replaces the ram and you remove the lines at the front and loop them.
Fuel pump you can replace with a Walbro 255.
That's a UK car ( front headlight washers, sidelights at front, dummy units on the edges of front bumper) not a JDM import. On the UK and JDM car the downpipes don't have cats, just the midpipes. The US cars had cats in the downpipes so their downpipes are longer so don't fit UK/ JDM cars for info.
Also you don't need a ODB reader to read codes on these.
Under passenger footwell pull up carpet, unbolt the ply wood and you'll see ECU.
    Turn key onto position 2.
Then on side of ECU there's a LED and a screw.
Turn the screw fully, wait 3 secs then turn it back.
The LED on the ECU aswell as the EML on the dash will then flash codes in sequence in a loop using long flash for 10s and short flash for single units.
If you get 5long and 5 short I.e. 55 that means no faults.
Whilst in the ECU diagnostics if you start the car and run it at 2500rpm the EML will flash in time with O2 fuel trims I.e. on and off for rich and lean. This will be one O2. If you then turn the screw back and forth you'll swap to the other O2.
You can't map the stock ECU.
However you can get a socket fitted and a pre programmed tune chip.
Or you can get a Nistune board which can be mapped with Nistune software.
Or fit a stand alone ECU.
Fuel pump relay is in drivers footwell.
Fuelpump fuse under hood by firewall.
There is also a Fuel pump controller behind rear trim.
There is a relay for ignition in the fuse box on strut tower.
The CAS will also stop you getting spark aswell as the PTU located on timing cover, they are common issue.

They were ALL VG30 engined. That's a UK model with the UK size licence plate recess and rear fog lights in the bumper, and they all had the VG30DETT twin turbo engine. In Japan and America they also came as non turbo versions, which had VG30DE engines. The non turbo versions don't have the hicas 4 wheel steering either. Speaking of the hicas, those lines you thought were for hicas under the boot carpet are nothing to do with it. They're your brake lines where they enter the car from underneath, the ABS pump is behind that trim on the right hand side.
