This song is a pre debut song and the first one they released together. This wasn’t about their haters - they didn’t have haters. They were talking about their friends, family, the company. While it is not a complex song format wise, it is lyrically impactful. I would go for Grr as another pre-debut song, then District 9 as the debut and My Pace is their first comeback. And just as a note, I am a woman who wanted and trained to be a classical singer. I was constantly, persistently and systematically beat down by my family telling me I’d never make it, there was no hugs, rainbows or support, and I fell into depression and dropped out of training. I relate to this song so much, except I couldn’t get out and I’m so glad someone could. I don’t think girls get ‘all the support in the world.’ Especially not in kpop. Or that guys don’t. Various members have written songs about mental health, anxietydepression, self-deleting, and the support from fans is a lot. Grow up, Side Effects, Alien, Streetlight, Youtiful, Lonely Street, etc etc have a lot of themes of mental health. Edited to add: Voices and Insomnia also came to mind.
I'll always love Hellevator just because it's the first one they did together, and for how young they were then and all they went through, as a fan it's significant I would say, but they have definitley improved a lot now! I'd recomend listening to some of their title tracks to see a bit more their journey, the first one would be District 9 (their debut song), My pace, Miroh, Side effects, Levanter, Back door, The sound, and there are a lot of good songs that are b-sides like Easy, Venom, Double knot, Victory song, etc
this is thier pre debut song, its about the struggles they went through in training and eventually reaching their goal of debut. it can also be interperated as some who is struggling in life and hopes for a better future and to finally have their dreams come true.
Stray Kids was so young age range from 16-21 when they released this video. This was a pre - debut video from their reality elimination show to prove they were ready to debut. Can you just image telling your parents at age 17 you are moving to another country to pursue a career in music and dance. That is just Felix story, who was born in Australia, and despite his Korean parents Felix only knew the basics of the Korean language. The other members each have their own similar stories of the negative feedback they received, before debut and the struggles during debut. It amazes me we still have people in this world who are passionate about their dreams, and who know at a young age what they want to be or do. And give 120% of their soul to work towards their goal. Most k-pop idols train at a very early age I have seen tik toks with 3 & 4 year old's in dance school and dance better than any adult. The perseverance and strength all idols show still amazes me.
@@TripTipsPodcast I will say. If you are going to watch District 9, please watch the I Am Not trailer first. Watch the trailer, then watch District 9. So many people miss the trailers, and they help so much with understanding each album. District 9 kicked off the I Am trilogy with a bang. Stray Kids usually have a theme running through each album they make. And some are sets. Their first 3 official albums (Mixtape was all the stuff they made for the Survival show & was written & performed before they debut as an official group) made up the I Am trilogy. I Am Not has a lot of songs about the struggle of not really understanding who you are as you grow up. I Am Who deals with the struggles of finding out who you are as a person, no matter what society is trying to tell you who you should be. I Am You deals with the facts of finding out that you have so many things in common with others. You don't really have all the answers, but you are finding common ground.
I'm a bit late to watch this one but wanted to geek out in the comments. This Hellevator MV is basically where the alternate universe or Skz universe theories come in. I remember reading a theory which said they are basically implying the Hell on Earth idea. Hellevator is a contradictory word in itself cause elevator is usually meant for something going up, but hell goes down. So when they arrive in the field of flowers, it's like they travelled to Paradise instead. Plus there are only two of the members wearing white in the first minute of the song (Chan and Seungmin) which symbolize the angelic figures watching over even in Hell. There's a lot more to this storyline but that's what I remember anyway. Regarding the genre of music as EDM, I think it suits this song well cause it ties in well with idea of Hell. EDM is often regarded as "noisy" by many and since they are talking about Hell on Earth, it's like they are imitating the noises of Hell and combining it with the noise of thoughts which are the lyrics. They also cry out in pain with the chorus lyric "I'm on a Hellevator" as if to scream and let out their pain. Okay I'll stop there but man are there so many levels to their music.
Hi, I'm Stay, I'm 59 years old and I owe much of my recovery from a deep depression to the lyrics, music and videos of the boys' daily lives. I see that you find the sounds of the beginning of their career strange, but they were just expressing what they felt for all the pressure they had to go through. I suggest you check out more recent sounds like Venon, Back Door, Cheese, Case 143, Easy, Item, Hall of Fame, Super Bowl (the real God's Menu) and my favorite Domino (video with Dance Practice only). SKZ is made up of very talented young people in different skills and it is necessary to analyze the lyrics and between the lines. As they compose, produce and direct their work, they like to always experiment. Thank you for your reactions! "You make Stray Kids STAY" (I don't speak english, sorry. Written with translator.)
Hi Stay, thanks for watching our video and for your support 😊 we really like Stray Kids. Check out our UA-cam channel Stray Kids playlist. We have more Stray Kids for you to check out.
Not sure if you'll see this comment 2wks after your post but I and others commented on your previous StrayKids short guide, recommending a better up to date guide, and you replied saying you'd check out the long, more accurate 2023 TeaNoSuga guide in the near future. I was just curious if that was still in the works because I'd love to see you're reactions to it 😊.

I hadn't heard this stray kids song before. But it was pretty good--not as hard as god's menu as you already know. I dont think you have done venom or the sound from them. I personally love Taste too by them but not sure if you will. ❤ great reaction. Also, i just listened to District 9 and Beware as people recommended... good songs.
