    This video has been a long time coming. I've been wanting to do a demo of my tele with the new toneriders in since I installed them and It's also been a dream of mine to record some guitar in a big reverberant room to get that big organic sound with no digital effects. so I decided to kill two birds with one stone.The natural reverb from the empty gymnasium was mixed in with the dry signal from the cab mic. This is similar to how they did it before digital reverb came out.
    All music written specifically for this video to show the dynamics of this pickup set. Massive improvement over the stock set.
    Also, apologies for the weird warping of the footage. Something went wrong with the video edit.

    I got AC2 in my V and I'm in love. My Tele is wonderful but it's been eyeing the Epiphone jealously and the Gibson isn't talking to anyone. Who would have thought cheap pickups will end up costing me so much.

    Hard to beat a Gibby Classic 57 in the neck of a tele cuz it nails that "Stones tele vibe" But the Tonerider alnico II HB is one of the best neck pups for a tele if you want sweet blues tones IMO! The bridge? In a tele ya just gotta have a jangle beast, like a filtertron, TV Jones, GFS 180, or GF'Tron or Retrotron pup to mix with it!

    Man, you are an old soul! Love it...excellent playing and tone! I liked that "cheap Les Paul" video you did but IMHO your best tone is with a Tele...just so nasty but sweet too.

    Wow that's some awesome playing, and the Toneriders sound great! I bought one of Wilkinsons Vintage brand V52BB. Supposed to be a "modern interpretation" of the original Tele. It is a very nice guitar, but the pups were crap. I live in Germany, and Tonerider is just across the channel from me, so thought I would give them a try. Duncans and Bare knuckles were just too over the top expensive. The original pups the neck was flat and muddy, and frankly pretty weak. The bridge was incredibly bright and brittle as heck!! I really hated it. Loved the way the guitar was built. Great platform for modding, but those pups had to freaking go!!! I like country blues rock and classic rock from mid 70's through mid 80's so i bought the TRT2 classic set. Wow!! What a freaking difference!! It is my favorite guitar to noodle around on , and crank up when the wife goes out. They really are the best thing going out there right now. I have Toneriders in everything except my Gibson Midtown and the Gibson SG. But everything else has tone riders in it. My Epiphone LP Special 2 just arrived. Plays very nice, but it's getting a set of P90's in it right now. I'm just listening to UA-cam on autoplay when your video popped up. I had never heard of you before, but dude you're awesome! New Sub to your channel. Keep up the great playing!!!

    I know it is normal this days to change pick ups and why not.
    So everybodys is making a special guitar which is great.
    But to me the kick is to play with what i have.I only change things if they really don't work.I think that all of the harley benton guitars sound great with de pus inside.I play for over 38 years by now and i had a lot of expensive guitars from F to G,but i must say that some of those Harley Benton and Squier guitars are better than those expensive ones very strange strange but true🤔
    I got a HB SC 450 and a custom sc 1000 that sound better then the standard Gibson that i had years ago.Anyway just my ears,everybody has a special sound in his ears.Great video and playin🎸🎵👌

    Just got this guitar. It’s got some great bones to it. A great piece of wood and some decent hardware and electronics, save for the tuners. The tuner on the low E string broke right off in 2 minutes. Easy fix though. I may have to get these pickups. Really nice sounding.

    This is good. I just got one of these HB TE-30's as a project guitar, and didn't take long to figure out the pickups needed to be upgraded. I was pleasantly surprised, though, at the level of quality in the guitar itself. Looking at the ToneRider Hot Classic set.

    • @mattrobinson
      @mattrobinson  6 років тому

      Kass and John Bolles hi, yeah they are a much better guitar than the price suggests. A decent set of pickups and they will stand up to the big name guitars at a tiny fraction of the cost. Congrats man

    • @bigfootingermany
      @bigfootingermany 6 років тому

      Change the tuners also. They are cheap asian 10:1 ratio tuners. Get a cheap set of 14:1 or 15:1 tuners from Amazon. They won't run over $20 and it makes all the difference in the world for tuning accuracy and stability. With that said, the HB platform is really a great deal. With a few mods and tweaks here and there, you have something that will outrun the heck out of Fender for 1/2 the price!

      Marco Andersson Hi Marco, thanks for the compliment. It was a very noticeable difference when I put the toneriders in, especially the neck pickup as the original was quite muddy. It just sounds more like a telecaster now. There is also more dynamics so it's more touch sensitive with overdrive. That's the deal breaker for me. It's gone from a good guitar to a brilliant guitar : )

      Billy The Kid ha ha yeah, it's the amps natural overdrive and the reverb was from the huge empty gymnasium. I put a microphone at the back of the room to pick up the natural reverb and blended it in with the amps microphone. It was kind of an experiment to get an old school tone
