      Hi there! We currently do not catalog anything for this vehicle. We may be able to make some shocks work depending on your specs. Please measure your shocks at your desired ride height from center of eyelet to center of eyelet and call our tech team with this information. Based on that, we will be able to recommend something if we offer it! We also have a tech article and video on how to properly measure your shocks if you have further questions. Do you recommend against support plates between the LCA and the t-bar at the bottom of the shock? I got some to go with my coilovers since I don't know if the stamped sheet metal will be strong enough. This is for a 2nd gen S10 2wd with stock lower control arms.

    • @cuzz63
      @cuzz63 2 роки тому

      I am curious about the same thing. I thought about making some plates and welding them in to strengthen the control arms. I have looked at a number of videos of coilovers on stock control arms and none of them address this so maybe its not a big deal.

    • @TheViolatorinator
      @TheViolatorinator 2 роки тому

      @@cuzz63 I got some UMI performance lower and upper control arms and mounted with the t-bar on top of the control arm, no issues so far. I think the problem might be when people mount under the control arm for a little extra drop. If the t-bar is on top the bolts just have to keep the bottom of the shock from moving around. When mounted under the bolts are under tension with the full weight of the front and also keeping the bottom of the shock in place.

    • @cuzz63
      @cuzz63 2 роки тому

      @@TheViolatorinator the T-bar is still putting all the weight onto a small area around the bolts of the lower control arm, which seems like a potential problem. I found a part sold be Alden that will help this. Aldan Support Plates for GM Front Lower Control Arms

      @@cuzz63 Just be aware that it will give about 1/2" of lift at the wheel with a 1/4" reinforcing plate.
      Also, I found that with 650 lb springs that are 10" (length that comes with the coilovers) you won't get any drop at all over the really stiff moog stock type replacement springs. I ended up going to 600 lb 8" springs (also by QA1, 8HTBF600) for some actual drop (can go damn near on the bump stops but I went to about a 3-1/2" drop) with it still plenty stiff, and I had adjustability to spare. Also finally got the chevy lean leveled out that I'd had with the old stock springs, stock type replacements, and the 10" coilover springs.

    • @TheViolatorinator
      @TheViolatorinator 2 роки тому +1

      Also, since I made my first comment 7 months ago when I was just thinking about getting coilovers to level out the front this spiraled hard into making my shitbox 4 banger with a 5 speed into something to compete at autocross. I got 17x9 wheels with some sticky 255-45r17s to replace the stock 15x7s and all seasons, sway bars front and rear, lowering springs for the back, and replaced the front brakes with some new better parts.

    No washers for the underside of the A Arm where the coil over got bolted to? Those two flimsy little nuts were the only thing keeping that from ripping thru the stamped sheet metal A Arm.
    That looked either not done right, or not engineered as solid as it could have been. Like a solid plate that comes up thru that big hole with a couple of upset down U bolts or some machined piece to mate with the unit on the underside of the a-Arm. ANYTHING but 2 small nuts with not even washers between them and the A Arm. Right? Am I being too anal retentive?

    • @QA1TECH
      @QA1TECH  7 років тому +2

      Hi thanks for your comment. There is also a t-bar mount on the bottom of the shock that we mount in the factory location on top of the control arm so the weight of the car is still being focused in the same place as when you are using the factory spring/shock setup. Mounting it from the bottom would put the weight on the two nuts and would likely cause them to fail in some way. Hopefully, that clears things up! Thanks.

      Thanks for your feedback. Including or not including spanner wrenches is an interesting topic. We’ve asked countless customers what they prefer and the vast majority voted to order them separately as they need. Including them automatically actually increases the price of each and every kit due to the extra material cost of producing each component. Many of our customers have multiple sets of coil-overs from one or more vehicles. You wouldn’t need multiple sets of spanner wrenches, so we offer it as an accessory item for when you need it. This ultimately saves you money because you’re not buying parts you don’t need. Thanks again!
