    buddy i have my grandmothers 66 two door post with the original 327, power glide and 12 bolt rear-end. yes i know the post came with a straight 6 and 10 bolt rear-end. but my grandmother ordered her 66 post from the factory with the 327 and 12 bolt. cos my dad talked her into getting the V8 and better rear-end. im sososoo glad he did.. lol

    Very nice suspension upgrades that should help significantly with handling. My only concern is connecting it all to a non boxed frame that will twist like a hula dancer. Great kits are made to stiffen both Chev and Ford perimeter frames.

    Its fun to watch the rich blow money on toys. see how the shop shows no signs of anyone actually working there, its a very expensive TV show, Im thankful they can show it for free. some shops might tell you there insurance will not allow you to watch them do the work, you must wait outside. these guys are a blessing.

    This is awesome, we have a 64 Malibu that could use the basic kit. I plan to start restoration on it soon and already planned new suspension and disc brakes so it's safer to drive and occasionally beat on. It was done up twenty years ago and driven occasionally then we've been storing it for awhile now as other expenses arose. My house is within a year of being paid in full and then I'm gonna start on it. Every classic muscle car deserves restoration!! Too many older vehicles dissappeared. My dad inlaw has a beautifully built 31 A model setting next to the Malibu in heated garage I can't wait for them to be similarly bada$$. He has a blower on his small block tho. I may go LS or matching edelbrock aluminum heads on our 350. It's got that matching performer rpm intake and carb so far but could use a freshen up and more power parts. Powerglide needs freshen up too. Great video guys! I didn't know these kits existed yet.

    • @nbowling10trio

      I looked up the qa1 basic kit for our 64 malibu. $1400 with shocks plus the disc brake kit. Not too bad for a more performance suspension. I plan to replace it soon. May go stock refurbish? Then spend on the brake kit or find a cheaper alternative. I'd like it close to stock but man the drum brakes are horrid and like to be stuck almost everytime we get it out of storage for a weekend drive. Current leaf spring set up and stock front can be a wallowing handful when I open her up a little and stretch her legs. IMO, she deserves all the money I can afford to throw at her. Being a 55 year old survivor.

    Nice upgrades but very costly. Unless it's a track car you don't really need the double adjustable shocks, I run the single coil overs on my '94 Camaro and they are perfect for on the street. I will be converting my Chevelle to C6 corvette brakes using a newly developed spindle which allows using all GM parts, including the sealed type wheel bearing assembly. The control arms don't really need to be changed unless the ball joints are worn or you want to install polygraphite bushings. My car came with the factory 12 bolt, easily strong enough, no need for a Ford 9-inch.

    Needs some bracing to be a monster.

      Yeah, I was surprised they didn't add at least bolt-on bracing. The trans crossmember won't keep that from flexing.

    So we keep the roof, firewall and bare frame from our barn find.
    From the car lovers who say restore em don't shred them.
    I don't really see much difference.

    Converting a Chevelle Chassis into a Modernized Monster
    Step One: Take a 5 gallon bucket to the bank
    Step Two: Fill 5 gallon bucket to the top with $100 bills
    Step Three: Open trunk of car
    Step four: Pour bucket of money into trunk....

    Small point, & I'm just nit picking...let's torque our suspension bolts at ride height. It doesn't take much to put a jack underneath, raise the component & torque.I gaurnttee bushings will last longer & feel better...IMHO!

    "and here we put anti-sieze on a bearing surface" cause you know bearings like anti sieze lolol

    • @xc8487
      @xc8487 5 років тому

      Anti seize won't gum up as bad as grease or wash out like oil. Of course these are parts that are intended to be maintained not set and forget.

      @@xc8487 anti seize has mettalic flakes in it.. putting a greasy metal flake product on or in a bearing is a terrible idea. Might as well throw the bearing behind the bench grinder and then pack it full of grease if you want the same effect. Thats like saying packing your wheels bearing with anti seize is okay it won't destroy the rollers at all lol. And I hope you realize I'm talking about the spring perch thrust washers too....

      Anti seize is not a lube, REGARDLESS what some "engineer" at the OEM says. It's full of metal grit. It will kill a bearing.

    • @joshwolff2386
      @joshwolff2386 5 років тому +4

      @@chucksteele4787 exactly, why would you introduce metal particles into a bearing/bearing surface. I can see putting it on the adjustment collar threads but not the bearing. No matter what. I've seen a Ford focus with anti seize on the rear stub axle under the bearing. Some previous tech had put on before the bearing, the heat made it fling into the bearing and within one oil change the bearing was shot. Makes absolutely no sense to do such a thing.
