Hey Levy, We love this road to GM series because we love you man. You introduced so many of us to this sport and watching you compete in tournaments feels just like if we were watching an older brother play in some big state championship. When you win, we win, when you lose we're here with you! You got this man. It's gonna be a crazy story. If you read this turn off your screen and get some sleep.
did you just tell him to "get outta here"? lol But yeah I agree with what Nate said except you'd be my younger brother, Levy. Big ups for doing what you do and go easier on yourself. Focus on positive thoughts! Much love.
You know, it is incredibly humbling and inspiring to see an honest man talk about his mistakes and misfortunes when it comes to him trying to achieve his dream. We all know that you can do this Levy! You're awesome!
he is not trying hard enough - think about content and misfortunes after accomplishing GM.. but if it really was his dream he would focus 100%.. he looks happy with his situation
Becoming a GM may in fact be necessarily a singular focus that can’t be achieved amidst the distractions of being the greatest chess content creator. We love ya for who you are, Goaty McGoatFace
True. Levy made the smart career moves. Sacrificing his chess ceiling in the process. I think that's definitely not something to be ashamed of. IM is still impressive. Levy does a ton for chess he should be proud of himself.
@@dg4293absolutely true. But also, as someone that dedicated his life to chess (Levi), and knows he has the talent to reach GM, I’d imagine it would be hard to let that desire go.
Levy, You and Anna have both not only inspired me to learn how to play chess in my 30's, but you've also ignited a new unknown love within. I'm not going to sit here and say that you shouldn't feel bad for losing, you're 100% right to feel however you wanna feel. I simply want to cheer you up by thanking you for helping me learn this beautiful yet ruthless game. I will forever have this newfound passion for chess thanks to you! *Triumphant as the GM title may be, between creating Chessly, dominating the youtube chess sphere, and inspiring an entire generation of future GM's, you are one of the greatest, regardless of title, period!*
This. Of everything Levy ever does, becoming GM will be the one least remembered because his influence among the chess masses has been so great. And I don’t say that to denigrate the GM title, just to point out *how* unique his influence is ❤
i want you to know that road to grandmaster is my favorite of your series and regardless of your success I enjoy having someone to root for. Hi Levy. My story is similar to many others, it was through your channel that I have been introduced to chess. I was born blind, so a lot of chess resources are inaccessible to me. But blindness does not stop me from enjoying your videos and also learning from them. Thanks to you, I've started both watching and learning to play chess which has become an important part of my life lately. I can't really tell you not to feel bad about any of your losses, that's impossible. All I can say is, if you see this, please try and remember your wins as well. You've had some pretty bad defeats, but you have also had some great victories against some of the world's best players. The road to GM is a long one, but I truly believe you can get there eventually. Remember that through all the ups and downs, you have people who genuinely support you whatever happens, and won't abandon you even when you start to make mistakes. Finally, I wanted to thank you. Thank you for everything you do in your videos and your courses, and all your efforts to make chess less intimidating and more entertaining. Good luck with the rest of your tournament and all future games you play.
Longer time viewer here and since 2020 I've watched at least 90% of your videos. Mad respect to you for doing your thing and staying a decent human being in the process. I can't imagine how hard and frustrating it must be to show off your losses that way. Please don't lose your joy in chess or faith in yourself. You did a great job so far, handling the nerves comes with experience. I know you can do it, you're not missing anything on the theory front. You prove that to us in all those years already. Don't choke about some losses getting back into the real grind, while essentially covering jobs for three people at least with everything you do.
Levy, you’ve shown lots of talent and won plenty of impressive chess games. Your biggest opponent is you. I don’t think you’re gonna get the GM title without overcoming yourself, and like a tennis player or NHL goaltender, half the battle is staying mentally sharp no matter what. Your belief in you has to come back, as it should. You’re clearly a very talented chess player. So many top athletes, especially those who find themselves in tough situations (like being the last guy back, goaltending, or being in a 1v1 the entire time anyways, like chess or tennis) see sports therapists for that reason. And they’ve been famously successful afterwards. Whatever it takes, because you have the ability and talent, so focus on this title because once you have it, you’ll feel so relieved and accomplished. Over the years, every time you mention it, I can tell it weighs on you a bit. This is something you want, and most importantly, something you feel you can achieve. Don’t let yourself be your biggest opponent. And good luck.
Don't think about what others say Levy, look at how many people you inspire. You are an awesome guy and we all know and believe that you will become a GM at some point! Be happy and you'll turn the tables on them tommorow!
Literally just watched the game 2 recap I thought I was tripping when I saw this come up lol. Definitely been a rough stretch in the tournaments recently but no player goes without them. I'm no where near qualified enough to give chess advice but I do have a lot of life experience and one thing I've learned is that our general ability as humans to regroup and cover from almost anything is remarkable. Looking forward to seeing you get to the finish line.
Also during Hikaru’s stream this game I think he tried to be more considerate, well also while being annoyed at the chat who may or may not taking things out of context or something. He also seemed perplexed so I don’t think there was ever mal intent
This actually motivates me to keep learning chess and to take losses better, if it happens to my teacher it can happen to me too, we're all humans doing our best and that's the beauty of this game! Keep your head up Levy and good luck for the next games.
Yeah becoming a Grandmother is hard work. Keep up the training and persevere through these rough growing periods. We are all here to support Leviathan! Get those reps in!
Hey Levy, I just want you to know that you were my inspiration to improve at chess when I was like a 1000. Now I'm a 1600 after about 2 years of playing and if you then told me I would be a 1600 I'd be like: No way I'm gonna be this good. So I know what it's like to have a goal you think is extremely hard to achieve, especially when you're losing some games in a row, but there are going to be a lot of amazing games you are going to win and sooner or later you are going to achieve your goal. Just remember that at least thousands of people believe that you can become a GM. You just have to find some mental strenghth to believe in yourself and not to give up. And I wish you best of luck in future games and thank you for being my inspiration.
That’s the way it goes. Sometimes you suck. All good, don’t get too down. Also, don’t be scared to play the interesting move that’s hard to calculate. ESPECIALLY when you’re on a streak of sucking. When you’re overthinking, maybe the cool move that’s impossible to fully think through will give you the best shot. Keep it going Levy, the form will come back
The worst thing you can do is focus on when you're having a bad run. This applies to anything you do in life. When you focus too much on how you're not doing well, that's brainpower taken away from moving on and doing better. We all know you got this, Levy. This year, next year, or in 5 years. You have all the tools to be a GM.
The road to GM is not going to be easy and you will face setbacks. You know better than anyone that it’s those setbacks which you learn the most from. You are an elite chess player playing some of the best in the world. These players have been extremely tough but I still believe half your battle is the mental game and trusting your instincts. You’re also better at chess than 99.99% of your audience so please keep that in mind before caring what others have to say. You’ll always have my support and I believe in you.
Hey Levy, You’re an awesome chess player and there’s nothing wrong with having emotions about your experiences. Keep up the good work on and off the chess board.
Hey Levy. You are getting there man. You are putting in the work and with time you will get there! You have helped fuel my love for chess. I was 400 when i first started watching and am now 900 and upwards toward 1000 (800-1000 elo is kinda rough, lots and lots of mistakes that didn't look like mistakes in the moment) You can do this man! I have to say that I had been looking at that open h column for a while. It looked kind of obvious to go for that Qh7 attack, not saying that I'd have played it in a tournament, because nerves do kick in, but I thought it would come as obvious for a player the caliber of Levy. Still cheering for you next games, ma boy. You got this

Hey Levy. Hope this message finds you in better condition my man. I saw the game and just want to say that tough games happen, and tough times arrive. This shall pass and we all love you and wish you best of luck for the next game. Thanks for making chess fun for all of us man.
Dearest levy, Don't lose your confidence, I still have hope in you. Just wait you will definitely get the GM title. Good things won't happen so fast! you have to wait. Even I've tried to reach 1000 Elo so many years and I still couldn't achieve it😅. Since I saw your channel, I got 850 Elo from 400 Elo! This always made me keep going. So don't turn back. And I want to thank you for all the support that made me reach 850 and I'm so close to 1000. WE love you levy, I am giving you full support👍

Levy you spend more time and energy playing against your own self-doubt than you do your opponent. You gotta get out of your own head. Rooting for you dude!
In every compentitive game you will have rough patches. And sometimes they take a while to pass... Don't get discouraged. An uptick will come eventually. The important thing is to not take breaks because things go bad. If you take breaks because you perform poorly, you'll only make it worse.
Regardless of what anyone says you are the Super GM of Chess Streaming and Super GM of Chess Teaching. Getting the GM title, which you will get, is just a small icing on the cake.
Keep fighting, it’s a mental challenge definitely. Also idk if its allowed, but take some ashwaganda before a tournament. To help you reduce anxiety and stress. And increase focus.
Food for thought - for context I am very new to competitive chess having played like 4 classical chess tournaments, and am currently a wannabe 2000 who is actually 1800 FIDE (I will keep convincing myself that I am still underrated but time will tell). I found that I perform much better against stronger opposition. So I am not sure if you have noticed the same thing but maybe you should focus more on tournament where you are a bit of an underdog? I realise that the higher rated you are the more difficult it is to be the underdog. Honestly just ignore me haha, I know that thousands of people just "want to help" and I guess I am one of them. Hope you smash the rest of this tourney.
Hey man! You might be beating yourself up but I say don't. You will get it together! I'm not sure if I've ever messaged on UA-cam or twitch before. I just wanna let you know life gets us all down from time to time but you got this man! Love your content and I can't wait until you become GM!! You got this
Hey man I can t really comprehend what it’s like at that level but I remember you saying that when you had a talk with Magnus before an interview he was following your games and basically said you should go with your gut, be fearless because you’ve nothing to loose really, who cares if people bash on you, most of them couldn’t lose your boots on chess skill and the others would probably trade their chess skill for your success. Win lose or draw in this tournament, it’s all learning for the next

Seems to me, you are in a "rebirth" process. I get the same shifts after learning new stuff (on some noname portal - Chessly - the best platform to learn chess) ... I think I have it, I train the lines, analyze possible variations on my chessboard, feel prepared and then I take it to the table. On average it takes me around 10-15 painful loses which generate thoughts like "ok, wrong hobby, let´s go knitting" ... when something clicks and my games start to make sense. I like the slight change in your game, the middle games are more complex, full of life and hidden complicated ideas.
A rut is just a rut. Don't be so hard on yourself. Personally, I'm confident you'll get there, but even if you don't nobody's going to be disappointed. You have a lot to be proud of.
You videos are why my six year old plays chess, why I started playing chess again, and why my wife plays chess. I don’t know how I send my meagre chess energy for your GM sprit bomb, but just know you’ve got three 200s in the UK pumped to see you succeed. You’re an excellent player ❤

Levy you gotta become a grandmother in 2025
Rooting for you in the next rounds. Go get those wins :)
I was playing so much marvel rivals that I thought he meant that but realized this is a chess channel.
No problem bro. You are still inspiring a lot of people. Good luck
👍
Hey man! You might be beating yourself up but I say don't. You will get it together! I'm not sure if I've ever messaged on UA-cam or twitch before. I just wanna let you know life gets us all down from time to time but you got this man! Love your content and I can't wait until you become GM!! You got this
Hello levy.we all like your road to gm episodes man. don't be said. We are all with you ❤❤

LEVY!! YOU CAN DO THIS. ONE BAD TOURNAMENT MEANS NOTHING. ITS ALL ABOUT BOUNCING BACK
Levy with the bombastic side eye (When I clicked on the GothamChess Europe tour)
Was not something i expected in my 2025 bucket list
Not worry you will become a grangmaster stay cool
Levy your are already a GGM for us don't get sad 😢❤
You gotta stay positive bro. Manifest that shi. You wish to only win one game, youll be lucky to get that one
Hang in there, Levy....
This Road to GM series has shown me just how much the players need to be in a good headspace to win games.
Your videos inspire and teach me lots in chess, don't lose hope!
A rut is just a rut. Don't be so hard on yourself. Personally, I'm confident you'll get there, but even if you don't nobody's going to be disappointed. You have a lot to be proud of.
Head up my man, your first tournament in a while. Remember to have some fun and take each game as it comes!
Don’t give up again Levy, you can do it if you set your mind to it. A minor setback is just the setup for a major comeback.
Don't be too hard on yourself Levy. Nobody is perfect. Even the people at the tippy top lose. We love you. Keep hustling, and you will get there.
You videos are why my six year old plays chess, why I started playing chess again, and why my wife plays chess. I don’t know how I send my meagre chess energy for your GM sprit bomb, but just know you’ve got three 200s in the UK pumped to see you succeed. You’re an excellent player ❤
